  1. The throttle body flap was stuck closed, brilliant.
  2. Problem resolved! New sump, done and paid for! HOWEVER The garage invited me in, when I tried to start my car it wouldn't. It now sounds like and does this: - NOT MY VIDEO I checked for fault codes and got back: P2108 I changed the throttle body unit 12 months ago ffs! Is this what the fault is? Hopefully my luck changes or I'll buy a new A5...
  3. Check the gearbox (if 7 speed) for any whines when you let off the throttle. Namely 5th gear. Go to 60 - 70 MPH in 5th and let off the throttle and listen for a high pitch whine. 3 of my friends have had an issue with them. Check front suspension wishbones etc when full lock turns at different speeds, obviously listen for knocks and vibration. When you lift the engine cover on a BKD, the 4 mounts are pretty poor. One in particular sits next to an aluminium coolant pipe which, if not seated correctly will cause it to wear and burst. Check for repairs here. See Image. Notice, the red circles are the mounts and the yellow area you should check for damage. Check the previous MOT's of the vehicle by entering the reg on https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ and it will display all known MOT results pass and fail. 2.0TDI BKD Clutch and DMF will cost around £700 from an inexpensive garage Also, rear handbrake causes some issues as the caliper springs get dirty and don't pull the cables back after a while, check if both sides are adequate. This is an easy fix though.
  4. It seems my car was not taken care of in its last service. First the oil filter cap, now the sump plug. I only had it serviced 200miles ago (or there abouts) and noticed a small oil leak when I was bleeding brakes - this led me to check and realise the oil filter cap was over tightened and sheared, so I decided to re-service it myself. Having taken the sump plug out, I could tell it was also extremely tight, clearly put on by an inexperienced chap. The motor has been taken to a different mechanic and having heard this story, he's going to first check over the other serviced items and then attempt a re-thread, but its anyone's guess if it'll be successful or not. Looks like a new sump, but I'll keep you updated, may even with some pics so we can all laugh at the poor job lol Cheers for the advice everyone, I 100% do not want to bodge it and for the sake of £100 in parts, I'd rather keep my oil off of the motorway and engine in good order
  5. It seems last service the mechanic tightened the sump plug too much or cross threaded it because the sump thread is sheared.. BKD 2.0tdi 8PA 2005 I'm going to re-thread the sump using an oversized bolt, does anyone know which would best replace the M14 x1.5 x22 standard sump plug? 6. yeah "filter" not "filler". I got one from a breakers though, cheers
  7. Hi guys, I've damaged my oil filter cap by over tightening it.. Anyone know where to buy a new from? I can't find anywhere that does! Cheers
  8. https://smartworldcompany.com/audi-entertainment-system-head-unit-guide/ Which one do you have? I'd guess Concert ll+ ?
  9. Hi Rob, I don't quite understand it though, how is it possible to use a "10,11" tooth starter in place of an 11 tooth motor? Wouldn't that potentially damage my flywheel's teeth? Cheers :)
  10. This is what I used: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A2-A3-A4-A6-A8-TT-AUX-interface-adapter-car-stereo-iPod-Concert-Symphony-/221191911114 Get the headunit out, plug the socket in place of the CD changer input, attach required earthing and RCA cables. Then, when installed, hit the CD button on the head unit, changing the display to CD- CD+ and it'll begin streaming AUX input. Finally, thread the AUX cable down the back of the AC controller to the pocket in front of your gear stick. Alternatively, you could run this AUX output from the unit into a Bluetooth device allowing for wireless streams. (may require 12v power source).
  11. Hi guys, I'm trying to source a starter motor for my A3 Sportback BKD 2.0tdi 140bhp 2006. Having taken my current one off to count its teeth and check its model, I can confirm it has an 11 tooth count and is Valeo branded. Please see attached photos for evidence of current starter. Eurocarparts suggest that there are 4 different brands and two different fitment types for this vehicle. Unfortunately, none of these match what I currently have. The following starters are available on eurocarparts: Fitment 1 RTX: 10 teeth ,1,7 KW Hella: 10 teeth ,1,7 KW Bosch: 10 teeth ,1,7 KW Fitment 2 RTX: 12 teeth, 2 KW Lucas: 12 teeth, 2 KW All models offered have the same flange & lengths in mm. Could anyone shed any light on which to buy? I'm limited to buying a factory refurbished one rather than from a breakers. Cheers.
