  1. Hi Gareth. Again, many thanks for the info and advice. I've got the cars service history (full) printout as it's all held on file these days. I've contacted Audi UK to get them to confirm which service I'm due after the oil change (which is highlighted on the cars display, I've had a time and mileage countdown) Baring the brake fluid change, I'm quite happy to do the rest, which I will. Wether or not I can reset the counters is yet to be seen although I do have that option available by the looks on the cars info screen. I'll certainly look at getting the best oil I can and again may see what Audi recommend. Cheers Jon
  2. Hm, over £300 for a full service is a little steep. Anything in there that a home mechanic couldn't tackle? I've no warranty to void anyway.
  3. Cheers Steve. I've contacted my local independent for prices. They advised the same, get them done together at the same time. I'll have a ring around too. Cheers Jon
  4. Morning all, So my A4 Avant (2.0Tdi B8 89K miles) tells me I need an oil change but I notice on the service screen that its also due a service in 2500 miles. That'll take me about 2 months to do. I'm reluctant to pay for the car going in twice in relatively quick succession and I was wondering why the two visits to the garage don't coincide? Can they be brought into line at all? What do people pay for these services generally and baring the oil change, what does the other "service" cover? I have a good independant here in Rugby (VASSTEC) Cheers for any info Jon
  5. Sussed it. With the ignition off I noticed the radio worked perfectly. Traced it down to the twin USB charger I had plugged into the 12v Aux socket under the arm rest. Result!
  6. Still getting really poor reception some days. I read on another forum that the B8 Avant with factory tints on the rear are poor for radio reception . It would be nice if there is an option to stuff a standard DAB aerial away somewhere.
  7. The antennas themselves are in the side glass off the estate part. I'm after the location of the booster as I think this may be an issue.
  8. One month in on my 2014 Avant and I've noticed the radio reception is pretty poor. My friends Passat of a similar age is spot on. Am I right that the aerial is located in the rear of the car somewhere? Is there a common failing at all?
  9. As it goes, my local VAG guys had a look and it's fine. The car warms quite quickly. I think I was being over sensitive.
  10. Thanks Trevor. I'll have a look and check the connections. To be fair, it's in very good order under the bonnet.
  11. Also is this purely a sensor for the gauge or does the engine utilise this reading too for engine management?
  12. Where abouts can I find this sensor Trevor? Thanks
  13. Morning all, So I'm a new (used) A4 Avant owner (B8). Loving the new levels of comfort and build quality compared to my old 8th gen Civic. Ok the MPG isn't as advertised but hey, I was kind of expecting that. So just one query really, just how thermally efficient are these 2.0L tdi units (143bhp)? Mine warms up pretty well on my 30 minute commute (1.5 degrees this morning!) but didn't quite make it to 90 on the gauge. It drops when stationary and on a couple of descents on the dual carriageway, but climbs when cruising at 60mph as expected. Could I have a flakey thermostat? Cheers all, Jon
  14. So, having had the car for nearly 2 weeks I have to say its lovely. My only concern is I think I have a flakey thermostat. My drive to work see's me drive A roads to a dual carriageway then probably about 15 mins on there with a couple of queues for round-abouts. Speed is around 60 on the DC's. The water temp gauge moves pretty quick from the off but drops from 90 now and again when downhill or in traffic. Considering today's temp on the car showed 8.5 degree's I'm not sure I should be seeing these fluctuations? I don't drive the car hard at all and use the cruise control where possible. The car has 3 month warranty, maybe a case for taking it back for a new stat? Cheers Jon
  15. Sounds good. I can make sure I sit in 4th for the dual carriageway sections obce a week.
