  2. That sounds like what I need. Will Audi customer services in the UK know what the build record is, and can they access?

  4. I'd recommend seeing if it needs a software update and speak to Audi.
  5. Speaking from someone owning a similar aged A6 it's electrical gremlins and issues with imobilisers. My engine has gone bang, and trying to get the car back on the road is proving a nightmare. Engines and engine parts are getting in short supply etc.
  6. I'd recommend you get a second opinion.
  7. Nope they won't be compatible due to widths of the car.
  8. Thanks Steve. It's just so confusing when those on A6 C5 Facebook groups give mixed information. I did find this engine which I'm debating to take a pint on. It turns freely but has no history. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/386915243941?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=iasddtvhsyq&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=IE07kO4STZy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=WHATS_APP If this is a genuine option then I wonder where a later bau or Ake engine (both 180bhp) would be a better option as they'll be detuned due to my ECU.
  9. What’s the LED on the drivers door card for, thought it was the alarm but mind don’t flash or am I barking up the wrong tree.
  10. Hi I would get it scanned for fault codes, it may be an immobiliser problem. Steve.
  11. Hi sorry to hear of your woes, I would definitely look at OBD eleven it will give you better scope to at least identify your problems and as code readers go its cheap. Steve.
  12. LOL BEEN BAIN MY LIFE LAST FEW WEEKS WAS RUNNING FINE THEN MY NICE SAID WILL I DO OIL FILLTER CHANGE SO SAID OK 45 MINS AFTER DONE IT SOUND TERBLE AM EFFFFING PISSSSSSED OFFF AS HAD SOLD IT TO HER 2K ON THE CHUKKKE SO SAID AL HAVE IT BACK AS CARNT SELL THAT TO HER BUT MORE YOUTUBE VIDEOS AND THE BMW N43 ENGINE IS CODSWALLOP ROD KNOCK
  13. Autodoc website can give you all alternative exact match batteries based on the OEM code of your current one. Apparently OEM code guarantees exactly same specification. Here is an example for OEM MOLL battery 6RO 915 105 B in my A3 where I have exactly the same problem of just needing the 'coding' to be done if I self-fit. I've been quoted £409 by local Audi for supply, fit & code where I can get the battery for £140 or less!! https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/6r0915105b
  14. Please do let me know how you get on.
  15. I aint seen the sensor on an A3 yet as I only got mine at the weekend. it should be somewhere between your intake and the air filter box - on my fiesta I took the part out and cleaned it. plenty videos on youtube tho on how to check your MAF sensor to rule it out.
  16. I have a b7 2.0 tdi s line and I'm wanting to do some preventative maintenance. I've seen a lot about the cam followers giving out on 2.0 turbos but I can't find if this is just the tfsi or the tdi also. I ahd the same thing with the diverter valve, ordering a new one just to find that was only the petrol version 😅
  17. Hi Steve Still haven't forgotten about keeping you informed but my friend still hasn't gotten back to me yet but we have both decided that a new throttle body is the step forward As before i will keep you informed Dale
  18. That's a good question and one I didn't get a clear answer to. I assumed it might have been a lease, but nothing was confirmed. I do like a grey car yes (matches my personality!) But a grey Audi isn't the rarest car in the land, so I can skip this one and wait for another, they crop up regularly!
  19. Hi 2016 A6 allroad 3ltr just swapped engine after bottom end failure and now car won't start refitted my original injectors but used high pressure pump that came with 2nd hand engine does this need coding thanks

  21. If you read through the above thread, (see my long my post on 24th March) it covers that, same fix as all the other holes in the wind deflectors seal trough. it worked, I also left the roof covered to stop any rain getting in (small tarpaulin tied to roof rails and under wiper arms) for 24hrs to allow the mastic to dry thoroughly too. there are numerous threads both here & on U-tube covering the subject. good luck
  22. Hi everyone, First time post on here. Had been biding my time to pick up an A6 All Road BiTDI (C7) for some time. Wanted a 2015MY Refresh with low miles and standard wheels. Plus, the sport differential and a new enough MMI to get Apple Car Play retro. Picked it up today. No pan roof, folding mirrors, reversing camera or privacy glass though - which would have been nice (first world problems I know). Picked up a 2016 with only 44k miles, one owner and low mileage over last couple years, 2018 (14k), 2019 (17k), 2020 (23k), 2021 (31k), 2022 (33k), 2023 (40k), 2024 (44k). No advisories for any MOT on record. FASH until 2018 then a couple of independents and not much else (obviously not great given the various recommendations on here and elsewhere). The car is great and will be a keeper, so I am going to look after it. In that vein, my plan is to get a great independent specialist near by to give it a full service and additional maintenance items including (all with genuine Audi parts - prices just FYI) and then drop back onto normal service/maintenance (with some additional oil/gearbox filter/oil changes/services): Brake fluid £60 Wheel alignment £90 Glow plugs £271 Sports diff oil change/service (including 4*4) £196 Gearbox oil change/service £650 Major service (including all filters etc etc) £350 On top of this: (1) Reversing camera (through Autologics) (2) SD card Apple Car Play retro install (3) Privacy Glass (subtle obs) (4) Valet and ceramic coating I was just wondering if there is anything I should also think about getting done from a service/maintenance point of view when getting all the above done, to prevent future potential problems. Will obviously consider anything that comes up in the health check as well. Any non-essential luxuries I could also consider? I did chat with Audi who said the gearbox was sealed for life 100k/10 years. But it’s basically BS and will eventually go. Hence getting the gearbox oil/change service. Really appreciate any advice from your collective experience. Cheers.
  23. Hi Gareth, Thanks for the response. The front tyres are wearing evenly but I would say the front left wears slightly faster than the right. I had a full wheel alignment carried out and when it had its most recent service Jan 2024 at an Audi garage. I asked them to investigate into the issue as I noticed this previously when they flagged up the tyre were wearing low on the fronts. The technician investigated the issue saying he completely checked the suspension wheel arms etc and they could not find a single fault at the time. Regards, Lewis
  24. I have been getting to know the underside of my engine bay lately of my B4 ACE Avant . I have been jacking, as I always have done with my mk2 golf, at the rear subframe bush. I cannot do this to remove the sump because I have to drop the subframe a bit to clear a space for the last 3 bolts to come out of the lower engine and gearbox support. Am I right in thinking that if I lower the subframe the gearbox drops down with it, so that will have to be supported from above by a cross bar and a chain. I can see one chain support on the front of the engine, but not the rear, my mk2 golf has 2! I have surveyed the underside and I think if I put the axil stand behind the rear subframe bolt onto a section that looks like it is 2 inches square, is this where I can be safe? One side has a heat shield cover, so accuracy must be high on that side. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks Francis
  25. Where can I obtain the correct part no’s for pads / discs ?
