Alternator failure related to mild hybrid system?
Danygeorge replied to PocketsAintEmptyCuh's topic in Audi A7 Club
Thanks for that Mark2. I hope I won’t need it but you never know with Audi.im actually living in Bristol but I know they are not to friendly when is coming to recalls and I prefer to pay for recovery to take my car to Bath. Thanks Mark2 -
You're most welcome, should give you many years of motoring enjoyment to come. Gives me inspiration to get my A6 sorted. Glad you got sorted with insurance. I see you're in Leicester like me 🙂 if you don't mind Me asking who did your engine rebuild? And interior work?

Very impressive engine work Parmy, and overall a very nice example. Who is the actual insurance company who insure it for Adrian Flux? Regards, Gareth.

If it's a constant multiple clicking noise on turning and pulling away it will be a cv joint If you slowly accelerate from 50 to 60mph does your steering have slight wobble??

Thank you Steve! I've insured with Adrian Flux again for this year. Admiral were definitely cheaper by a large margin but they told me there book value for a vehicle like this was 8.2k I had to laugh that off, maybe for a base model that's been neglected but not this particular S4. It has 11 stamps in the book direct from Audi and only missed recently because its been off the road for 14 months during the extensive works, alot of shop hrs have gone into this including cleaning of every mechanical part. -

If it's a single knock when turning slowly it will be a bush in the wishbone if it is a few knocks together on rougher roads or of there is a dip etc in rd surface it will be drop links (drop links are common faliure and usually when knackered you can't get em off they have to be cut off

Alternator failure related to mild hybrid system?
Danygeorge replied to PocketsAintEmptyCuh's topic in Audi A7 Club
That’s I was asking because I know some of Audi dealers like(Bristol probably) will try to find any reason not to replace that alternator, even there’s no connection between the alternator and the adblue.. Thanks for the reply, I’ll let you know what they say about it. -

I would just play the innocent if and when challenged. My A8 Ad Blue tank lasted 18 months before filling and you only get a warning when low - i would plead ignorance if asked. Audi do void claims for 'unrelated' but warranty-excluding issues. -

Bath Audi are familiar with this problem so you should be ok. Cannot see any connection between Adblue and alternator. -

Hi. I’ve got the same issues with my a6 c8 alternator 2 days ago, car stopped on the motorway with all the lights coming up on dash board. I’ve booked my a6 to Audi bath for next week , now my question is if someone had the adblue off when they went to Audi for an alternator replacement and they still replaced under recall. Thanks -

That’s pretty niche. ABT’s website is clunky and basically a dealer portal. Your best bet is probably searching via UK dealer/importer, as the part you need will be bundled in a full kit and will have a unique ABT part number. Try https://www.specialistvehicles.co.uk/abt/ They have contact number and email and seem to feature Audi as main brand. They are based in Plymouth.

Hi Magnet, I've recently had a complete engine rebuild at considerable cost. All the big ticket items have been replaced etc. Unfortunately the engine seized last year which required a complete rebuild starting with crankshaft, pistons, rods, block resleeving, etc all major components have been replaced and all plastic pipes etc, water pump, aux pump, thermostat, super charger bricks, complete set of new injectors, front seats reconditioned last year, its had in excess of 15k worth of work, so guess its because of my investment im seeking a higher agreed value. It's also a very well spec'd car with just under 10k worth of manufacturer optional extras including the desirable rear sports diff, MRC Stage 2+ and custom exhaust system. The car usually only covers around 2-3k miles per annum under my ownership. This will be my forever car...it maybe getting on a little now but imo its got that build quality that Audis were known for before we ended up with big chunks of plastic everywhere. -

Hi Dan, I have an agreed value policy in place now. Will update photos etc once i pick my car back from the garage. -
That's a catch 22, I'd say a keeper but I sead that about the s5 hahaha, think once iv done all I need to her I will keep her and possibly ger a stag engine and box and rebuild that and put that in I'm not sure at the moment, also thinking of another audi but q7 4.2 but it's time to work on them as work nights so sat basically rest day and Sunday is catch up day

Could it be an issue with a seizing brake caliper or issue with a driveshaft?
