  2. Hello! I bought an A8 D2 a year ago, from first owner, with only 80k miles . I made around 20k miles with it, and it runs without any problems. Since the car has an automatic transmission, I'd love to hear your opinion. I don't think it's ever been serviced, I'm wondering if it should be serviced, or is it better if I don't touch anything. I wouldn't like my car to stop, so I'm interested in your advice and experiences. Otherwise, I'm very satisfied, it drives great, it's a special feeling when I sit in that car, I'm in touch with new cars, much more expensive and more luxurious than this old A8, but I get bored of each one after a few miles, which is not the case with the D2. The previous owner took good care of it, and I had no problems with it. by the way, I think this is one of the last D2 models, bought and first registered in 12/2003. Even though it is old, it is a very special and valuable car for me, and that is why I would like to keep it preserved and correct as the owner before me did. I am also interested in other diseases of this model. I hope I will find out what I am interested in here. thank you! Later i will post some photos.

  4. Hello. I am new member from Croatia. I drive A7 50TDI Quattro and A8 D2 3.7 Quattro. I need few advices for my D2, i hope so i find it here. greetings from Croatia!
  5. It's a car supermarket jobby. 2 years old and I thought the skirt just looked lighter in the pic but when I saw the car it is definitely silver and not Daytona Grey. It isn't a major issue, I was just curious if someone had sprayed it or something. Two cars below, the silver trim is first and 'normal' trim beneath that (same car supermarket)
  6. 2012 a6 diesel avant. “Stop engine check oil level light” keeps coming on. Oil level is ok and new oil pressure switch fitted. Any ideas?
  7. If you read through the above thread, (see my long my post on 24th March) it covers that, same fix as all the other holes in the wind deflectors seal trough. it worked, I also left the roof covered to stop any rain getting in (small tarpaulin tied to roof rails and under wiper arms) for 24hrs to allow the mastic to dry thoroughly too. there are numerous threads both here & on U-tube covering the subject. good luck
  8. Hi , 2017 a6 with the same leak on both sides of the car , running down A frame and into foot well . The water as I'm sure is the same for most gets in where the water flow / level becomes to much for the drain and builds up ( doesn't take much ) it overflows to the inside of the wind defector and the leak gets in where there is a steel spring finger . Water gets in where it locates towards the front .... BUT regardless of that , iv found at the rear of the spring finger , under hole is a 10mm × 10mm square hole in the frame on both sides which flows directly in onto the headliner. Joke of a design. I'm working on a fix at the minute 🤞
  9. Hiya. I cant say that I have got to the bottom of the problem. Jasons post regarding this helps but its not the ultimate cure. I have had my gearbox ECU reset at dealers and that didnt help either. I suspect the only cure is a new mechatronic but hate to think of the cost. Sorry I cant be more help.
  10. Hi everyone, First time post on here. Had been biding my time to pick up an A6 All Road BiTDI (C7) for some time. Wanted a 2015MY Refresh with low miles and standard wheels. Plus, the sport differential and a new enough MMI to get Apple Car Play retro. Picked it up today. No pan roof, folding mirrors, reversing camera or privacy glass though - which would have been nice (first world problems I know). Picked up a 2016 with only 44k miles, one owner and low mileage over last couple years, 2018 (14k), 2019 (17k), 2020 (23k), 2021 (31k), 2022 (33k), 2023 (40k), 2024 (44k). No advisories for any MOT on record. FASH until 2018 then a couple of independents and not much else (obviously not great given the various recommendations on here and elsewhere). The car is great and will be a keeper, so I am going to look after it. In that vein, my plan is to get a great independent specialist near by to give it a full service and additional maintenance items including (all with genuine Audi parts - prices just FYI) and then drop back onto normal service/maintenance (with some additional oil/gearbox filter/oil changes/services): Brake fluid £60 Wheel alignment £90 Glow plugs £271 Sports diff oil change/service (including 4*4) £196 Gearbox oil change/service £650 Major service (including all filters etc etc) £350 On top of this: (1) Reversing camera (through Autologics) (2) SD card Apple Car Play retro install (3) Privacy Glass (subtle obs) (4) Valet and ceramic coating I was just wondering if there is anything I should also think about getting done from a service/maintenance point of view when getting all the above done, to prevent future potential problems. Will obviously consider anything that comes up in the health check as well. Any non-essential luxuries I could also consider? I did chat with Audi who said the gearbox was sealed for life 100k/10 years. But it’s basically BS and will eventually go. Hence getting the gearbox oil/change service. Really appreciate any advice from your collective experience. Cheers.
  11. Hi Gareth, Thanks for the response. The front tyres are wearing evenly but I would say the front left wears slightly faster than the right. I had a full wheel alignment carried out and when it had its most recent service Jan 2024 at an Audi garage. I asked them to investigate into the issue as I noticed this previously when they flagged up the tyre were wearing low on the fronts. The technician investigated the issue saying he completely checked the suspension wheel arms etc and they could not find a single fault at the time. Regards, Lewis
  12. Hello Lewis, This is indeed rather daft, particularly since motorway driving usually gives you less tyre wear that driving on A and B roads. Not that this will explain your situation, but I’ve haven’t been impressed with the longevity of Continental or Hankook used on A and B road motoring, but…. Are these front tyres wearing evenly across the tread width, and are you getting the same rapid wear rate on the rear tyres. When you say you’ve had the car checked, have you has a 4 wheel alignment carried out? Have you had the shock absorbers checked? Kind regards, Gareth.
  13. Can you please share what you did to repair the problem. Clutch…… did u replace it?
  14. I am having the same problem with my a6 2013 cvt gear box it lags at gear changes like yours. When at a stand still or when it’s the first start of the day.
  15. I have had an Audi A4 Avant 2.0 2015 since February 2023 and I purchased the car from a main Audi dealer in York. However since I have had the car I have had to change the both front tyres on the car three times already and they are now requiring another set due to going bold. Each set has lasted now longer than around 6-7k miles per set and all the car does is sit on a motorway at 74mph on cruise for 120 miles a day. I have had the car checked by both an independent tyre fitting company and by Audi servicing itself and neither could find a single fault with the cars wheels/alignment/suspension etc. I have even tried switching different brand of tyres to see if that would make a difference including Avon, Hankook and Continentals but all of them have only lasted 6-7k miles. It maybe time to trade the car in for something different as I can't keep up with this unnecessary tyre wear its the worst I've had on any German car I've owned. Any help would be massively appreciated as I feel I am at a loose end.

  17. I have been getting to know the underside of my engine bay lately of my B4 ACE Avant . I have been jacking, as I always have done with my mk2 golf, at the rear subframe bush. I cannot do this to remove the sump because I have to drop the subframe a bit to clear a space for the last 3 bolts to come out of the lower engine and gearbox support. Am I right in thinking that if I lower the subframe the gearbox drops down with it, so that will have to be supported from above by a cross bar and a chain. I can see one chain support on the front of the engine, but not the rear, my mk2 golf has 2! I have surveyed the underside and I think if I put the axil stand behind the rear subframe bolt onto a section that looks like it is 2 inches square, is this where I can be safe? One side has a heat shield cover, so accuracy must be high on that side. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks Francis
  18. Where can I obtain the correct part no’s for pads / discs ?
  19. Update on my roof issues. I want to share a document with you all in tue hope it will help you as it helped me resolve my roof not closing yesterday. I have uploaded a PDF that gives you a full working knowledge of the roof, its operation and positioning of switches and what the stages of roof it goes through whilst operating. My issue was the front passenger lock mechanism at the front of the roof sticking and not aligning so that it was recognised as unlocked! lubricated and cleaned and straight away back working properly. Hope the uploaded document helps others, and thanks to thise who took the time to give advice and help. very much appreciated. Lee MC-10122448-9999.pdf
  20. Thanks Gareth, Have obtained a complete breakdown and drawing in Pdf format of the roof system for this car, What it possibly looks like is a malfunctioning switch in the locking mechanism in the front of the roof which locks into the windshield. This would give issues the same as what im having so will check these switches out later today. Many thanks for your advice tho! lee
  21. Knobhead time, fixed. I left it in reverse so doors would not lock duh!
  22. Well had the car for 4 days and opened car this morning and locked it at work just fine, left work came home and the doors will not lock via the fob. The fob opened the doors but not lock it and the mirrors will not retract, had to use the actual key in the fob to lock car. Any ideas before I blow a fuse with the dealer?
  23. Recently purchased an A5 2.0tdi 2010 with the 2G MMI system. When I check the oil level even after following the instructions of warm up engine, open/close the bonnet, wait 2 mins. It still says ‘Please drain off oil’ and has done for a couple weeks. It still wouldn’t be overfilled and my brother who’s a jag mechanic said it shows no signs of being overfilled and it’s probably just slightly over and needs burning off but I’ve put on 1000 miles in 2 and a half weeks with no change. Is the oil sensor done in and does anyone know the cost of these?
  24. Hi guys, I have a 1995 2.6e Cabriolet with a new Blaupunkt Madrid 200 BT head unit and a newly fitted Beru A350 electric aerial. The headunit works great and the aerial fits fine with the power extension and retraction working great. However, sadly the FM reception is still poor. Having owned many VW's and Audi's over the years I'm aware that you need to fit the aerial adaptor that usually boosts the OEM aerial signal, however as this is an older car with a generic aerial is that still required? Any pointers would be appreciated! Thanks, Matt
  25. Thank you Steve, it's seems a great place and loads of helpful stuff, Yes yellow is great she wanted orange or yellow and after 4 years (yes years) this one came up in auction and it's now finally on the drive just need DVLA to issue v5 so she can actually enjoy it
  26. Syed. All I hear in the first and second videos is the normal diesel clattering. I don't hear even that in the third video. Unless you have other symptoms of engine problems you have nothing to worry about.
  27. Hello Steve, I have found out that the throttle body is losing power so having to take it in to the Audi specialist to fixed this.
