  2. Hi I would definitely get some body in that line of work to look at it and tell you realtime what's been done, never been a fan of mapping as half the clowns out there have no idea what they are doing or what the long term implications of their work is, are you still getting codes? Steve.

  4. A(nonymous). Given that this thread is over seven years old it is unlikely you will get a response from the originator. Nevertheless there are some useful suggestions in it. Have you tried any of them?
  5. Any documented proof of cambelt and water pump change and gearbox services. Check YouTube for buyers guides.
  6. Need to know spec and gearbox option etc. I'd recommend finding 3 similar cars from the same year and send them to your insurance company as evidence of what it'll cost you to replace the car with a similar or like for like.
  7. Hi guys. I'm having very similar issues to you all. Only my fault codes do not go away, they cant be reset. I'm currently trickle charging the battery to full, but it sounds like mine too could be a wiring fault. Has anyone got a better description and maybe photos of where their damaged wires were? Cheers Jamie
  8. Hi Guys, Just had my car hit from behind with luckily what looks like just cosmetic damage, but I think I'm going have a hard time proving to my insurer the value of this car. I am very worried that if the bodywork repair comes to more than the value of the car I will lose it. Mechanically it is sound. Most estimation sites only put the car at around £500. Would anybody be able to give me a rough idea of the value of the car? (Excuse the dirt, its been wet and muddy where I live for most of the spring!). The car has been well maintained, passed MOT in February, and has been looked after in the family for 18 years. It has service history going back all this time and prior to this has not been involved in any accidents. Downsides are it has 185,640 miles on the clock, and has general wear and tear on the bodywork expected for a car that is 23 years old, including some bubbling on the spoiler and rear offside upper panel. I appreciate any help, cheers.
  9. Hi Scott, did you manage to get to the bottom of this?
  10. Hi, Did you get to the bottom of this? I'm having the same issue. The rear door card and lock has been replaced but still no luck.
  11. On all of the other related threads I have seen, including some of the independent technical analysis of the fault there has been no indication that the component when replaced is materially different, I think the part number changed slightly but analysis of that implied it was fundamentally the same system part(s). I am inclined to agree with Mark2, whether its something about the design and implementation around the system and the load upon it that causes it to eventually fail and or a design flaw within the component that with constant loading results at some point in a failure of its ability to charge the 12v battery, it simply doesn't look like Audi intend to proactively identify the true root cause(s) and implement a fix upon which a recall is initiated. It seems they have taken the path (think this was discussed further back in the thread) of letting the customers and dealerships deal with the issue at point of failure and simply replace the part under an extended warranty scheme. No doubt they will have some level of contractual coverage with the component supplier themselves. It's plausible as they focus more on their ev range that they don't want to put time and money on a system and component set that may be considered part of vehicle ranges they will ultimately sunset (speculation only, but plausible). Of course the issue with that is that ultimately it is the consumer that suffers the consequences. They may be able to currently defend their position by pointing to an extended warranty and willingness to repair, but if someone gets hurt or worse as a consequence of being put in harms way by this failure then I suspect things will change very quickly. Will be interesting to see how the class action in the US unfolds and what follows that. MikeyW, regarding the question of whether they fix the issue when replacing the component, the burden of evidence kicking around would imply that they don't. Seems they replace it like for like, inadvertently resetting the countdown for when it will re-occur and there are some theories out their on how to extend that time such as disabling the stop-start each journey via engine sport modes etc. Earlier this year I asked for confirmation as to whether they had identified the root cause and identified an appropriate fix (as opposed to like for replacement) to this specific failure in writing as a condition of completing a purchase of a C8 with one of the largest Audi dealerships in the UK and they wouldn't do it as they said Audi UK didn't recognise it as an issue requiring recall or otherwise. Predictably I was fobbed off with the usual " it is rare and we haven't seen many'. Sadly that it is why I cancelled mine. If interested in the new performance version (a beauty!), if it were me, as a condition of sale I would ask the dealer to confirm in writing via Audi UK that they have changed the implementation and or component in a way that fixes the root cause of the failure. I don't think they will do that, but it is worth a go.
  12. Thanks Christian, I’m now at an age where I tend to say what I think, and there is a lot that could be said, but I’m not too fussed on spending the time to do that with you - on here or otherwise. Obviously if there are contra opinions, then the members will be keen to make contact with you - and let’s hope they do- but judging by your responses to date from other contact mediums, I wouldn’t put my (in caps) money on it - but fingers crossed for you. Cutting to the chase, and very much a personal view, I feel if you took this idea to ‘Dragon’s Den’ you would be shot down in flames with a barrage of ‘I’m out’ s. To bring you up to date, I’ve chosen to leave the future of this thread in the hands of the Forum Administrator. Kind regards, Gareth. p.s. Hope you have some luck in finding a replacement A6 at auction.
  13. Perhaps you could update us on the definitive answer from the Parts. Dept. of your local main dealer Bill. Kind regards, Gareth.
  14. Can we start by requesting you to fill in your profile properly?
  15. Thanks for replying. Hmm, that’s an interesting one. At present, do you think this can be ignored? Or would you recommend getting it to a mapping company; and allow them to revert and put a better map on it?
  16. read into what you have told us christian you have had very little response to say the forums you have been on.regards stepehn
  17. Not once have they responded to me to tell me they are aware of the problem and are working to sort it out and this is what they are doing and all owners should expect a fix by a certain date, as you would expect. Instead very sorry what compensation can we pay you to go away.
  18. I do not think the part is the problem, it is the design.in my opinion this Starter/genertor does two things. It kick starts the engine after being static in traffic and then charges the batteries. I think if yiu spend a lot of time in stop start then this will wear out more quickly. If it was a quality issue Audi would be doing a recall. As it is they are burying their heads in the sand and trying to tough it out.
  19. Did you find out how to remove the center console in the end?
  20. Yesterday
  21. Hi mark thanks for the reply. Audi uk will know me I’m sure as I had another known issue on the first rs6 3 days after picking it up which was the fuel tank level float sticking and creating the idea you had half a tank of fuel, so the then alternator fault led to some tense conversations. Current rs6 has Audi warranty and breakdown so I need to ponder about my expectations from them here. I had been looking to change to a new performance version (coz you need more power when you have 600ps don’t you ?!!!) so maybe there’s something I can pursue there. But I’m keen to know are the new ones sorted for this issue and are the parts they now ship (or not) also fixed. It’s a major safety issue so if I don’t get properly looked after starting tomorrow it’s going to get escalated very quickly. I’ll keep you posted. How old is yours ?
  22. Hi Gareth, This is a very interesting experince and im quite shocked to the level of skeptisism. I too have been scammed on a few occasions, so with the video I attempted to mitigate that. Yes, maybe it could be seen as "‘ …. give me your details and I will then reveal my Master Plan!" to that end, I'd offer that you don't need to leave your email if you don't wish to, I can remove the 'required field' from the form, so people can leave feedback anon. Easy. Do you want that? Did you read the reasoning to this process? Im can offer a conversation with me on a call - I can even make that so you don't need to give any personal details. If one is interested in seeing what happens next and being involvd with trying the product once created, then tell me how one should be notified. I cant think how eles I can be open and as genuine as I can with all that I have said above in the above threads etc. The forums appraoch hasn't yeilded anything yet, this one having the worst reponse out of 4. But just booked another call with another enthusiast from Instagram, he'll be the 4th I'll have interviewed off instagram, I've had x3 from Facebook Groups. The others were people I know. So I have 10 right now, and would like to get to atleast 15, ideally 20 more if I can. Going to a car meet soon or two. If you want to learn more about this proces, go look up the book 'Running Lean by Ash Mauyra' and any of his talks on youtube... the mistake Im learning is bypassing 1st degree connections of mine and going to a cold (albeit potentially relevant) market; here. I mean, if I was trying a fast one... would you be able to find me on LinkedIn? Between visiting my loom video (gives a snapshot into some histroy and my full name) and what I have put here there is enough to find me online, on LinkedIn etc. You'd find all you need know know. Obv no point putting a hyperlink here. Cheers, Christian
  23. Advice needed, I'm looking at a Audi A4 3.0 V6 2017 with 2 former keepers. Its has 7 stamp service history and last serviced at 91000 miles. What would be advice from you guys before thinking of buying.
  24. Yes I had a lot of trouble trying to get the service history off them. They kept saying they couldn’t get hold of it as they were not the registered keeper Will follow your advice for future purchases. Thanks again.
  25. Sounds like a longer term good move Fi. Could I reinforce the procedure I go through before viewing:- Check the on-line MOT history. Check the DVLA vehicle check to see when the latest V5 was issued. Can give you some idea of last change of owner. Ask the seller to e-mail copy of the Audi on-line service history and/or any servicing receipts. If you have opposition in any respect - start twitching! At the same time as requesting this off the seller, ask your local dealer if they would outline ( and ideally provide copy) the service record they have on the Audi system. All this can be done from the comfort of your arm chair, and will form the backbone of sound research before you decide to view. Good luck with your quest, and please let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
  26. Well after lots of research and worry, I decided against the purchase of that particular car! I noticed a couple of electrical warnings, and with the wet boot, I think it may have been an ongoing problem. So just waiting for my deposit back. Finding it very difficult to find a good used Q7! Thank you for your help and advice though.
