Hi all, for the past few days when i have started my car in the morning and drive off the car will loose revs then the gearbox will go in any random low gears and rev high then low and then judders (has a mind of its own) when this happens on the dashboard where it shows PRND it flashes red. when i pull over turn the car off and back on its fine again? also does not happen when the car is warm. Any ideas? could this be a simple fix.

Welcome to the forum Dan, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :)

My advice would be to get a diagnostic check carried out to see what fault codes flag up. I'd also be weary about driving your a4 as you could be doing more damage to the gearbox long term.

Out of curiosity do you know when the gearbox oil was last changed?

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve, thanks that's nice to know :) and I am trying to arrange to get it into my local Audi specialist to check over. The problem is I use the car daily 30-40miles, I am not sure when the last oil change was. I am hoping it is the simple fact that it needs more oil in it as I heard this problem can happen when cold to do with the seals or something not warming up due to lack of oil.

It could be, I know on the a6 c7 the auto boxes have been know to stop selecting gears if the oil hasn't been changed.

Cheer
