Experiences: facelift 3.0tdi tiptronic

Looking into replacing the C5 2.7t with a C6 3.0tdi, both Allroads, but not looking forward to timing chain or transmission problems, so I'm a bit worried and hoping for some of you taking away doubts I have (or confirm, but I hope not).

I know the CDYA engine has  improved timing chains and tensioners, and regular oil changes help too, but I've read they can still fail; wondering if anyone here has ever had their facelift engine 'go bad'?

And, for some reason Audi decided to mate a 6HP19 with this engine, I've read the box can handle up to 400Nm, but the engine makes 500Nm... near 600Nm once remapped.
Also read that the 6HP can lock up in any gear, improving mileage but causing faster wear of the clutch packs; also read it's the small 19 casing, but 'with heavier internals', to me that's all a bit conflicting and vague.
Anyone here had problems with their transmission after a remap?

Hey

So cdya is an improved unit and more durable then bmk or asb

The issue is top tensioners that fail first with causes all kind of problems. You can tell by listening for a classic 2-3 second rattle on start up

The tiptronic zf6hp19a is great and probably most relible gearbox that audi made or if you prefer zf made 😉

The challange with the gearbox is oil changes . Audi claims the tranny is "seald for life" and will refuse any oil changes unless its part of the repair.

Lock up only happens around 30mph-70mph

Overall of you dont have any issues with the test drive it wil be fine

Regarding remap they work fine as long as its done by a specialist

Is the all road on air suspension ?

Remap will be done by a specialist, not taking any chances there 😉

Allroads should be on air suspension, my C5 is and it’s replacement will be too.

Gearbox will be flushed and serviced when I buy a car that hasn’t had a gearbox service recently, no such thing as ‘seald for life’, no clue how they got that idea, just silly.

Top tensioners, do the mechanisms fail, or the guides?

Still wondering how the transmission holds up after a remap, not that I’m going to thrash it, but it will be used once in a while (why else would I have it remapped haha).
