Audi A6 High Pressure Fuel Pump Issue

Hi, I own a 2014 Audi A6 3.0 TDI (204Bhp version). Two weeks ago I broke down, and later found that the high pressure fuel pump has broken and spewed swarf into the fuel system, so I was told I face a £6,000 bill to fix it because I needed new pump and 6 new injectors (which isn't cheap, it's with a Bosch fuel injection specialist, but Audi main dealer quoted me £12,000 for the same work). I've saved about £1,600 by sourcing my own parts (all genuine Bosch) rather then getting from the dealer, but my question is this: Is this a rare fault, or is it common on Audis? My gut feeling is that I should sell the car when I get it back because I don't feel as if I trust it any more after getting so heavily stung. Does anyone think this would be the best course of action or is this so rare that its unlikely to ever happen again and unlikely to cause other knock on issues?
