A6 c7 15 PLATE 150hp

Hello guys,

Need quick suggestion guys.
I am just after viewing two 15 plates. One Black Ultra 190hp

But we didn't like it because the owner had no history over on it just his own service stuff, it's a s tronic auto. with 200k kms.

Had few scratches and dents the interior is white leather but well worn out. He didn't want to drop the price further so he stayed in his 18K euro mark

 

Then we went over to have a look witch i Believe metallic dark blue. And we literaly fell in love. There was minimum wear it's half leather we loved it.

it's S-Line Ultra S-Tronic Tech Pack with 160k Kilometers, and the price on this was 17k euro.

the difference between those 2 is that the first one had 20inch s line alloys and tow bar. The other one had on dash Navi and on front screen speed showing up. No scraches whatsoever. Reversing camera also all Bose surround kit. etc. Attaching two of the vehicle links.

Issue here is that this Dark Blue audi has a motor producing 150hp?? I don't know about these motors and can't find much of information about them.

Anyone can tell me if it's worth getting 150hp, it's also well serviced than above. But just this freaks me out the 150hp motor..

Hi I looked at a lot of these before I bought my 190 ultra and having driven both types the 150/190  and can honestly say the 150 is under powered if you want to go play on occasions, not saying that they are a bad car but if you like a brisk drive they don't quite cut it I had a Mondeo titanium x sport before and with 200 hp and 420nm of torque it was a real beast when pressed but not as well built or reliable as the Audi hence the change.

With regard to the two vehicles described I would definitely walk away from the first one with all thats wrong cosmetically and no service history you could be buying a burial plot for your bank account.

What if i remap the 150hp one it would give me 190hp and bit more torque than a standard 190hp?

Are the engines on them 2 are same or they quite different. 

Also price wise it's also cheap and well equiped Vehicle. The full audi service on it including replacement of glow plugs t/b waterpump and other stuff.

Hi from experience I have observed that aftermarket remaps can lead down a dark and dangerous path if you consider the fact that as you quite rightly put it both engines are the same and the only difference is in the mapping, consider this Audi as a producer employ the world supply of software writers during development  these guys are tasked to write mapping software that employs subtle changes within torque curves to eliminate extra thermal stress on the engine and protect the integrity of the built in reliability factor, this process costs millions and believe me the motor manufacturer would not be leaving power gains on the table that could be bought for a few hundred pounds, indeed not if they thought they could develop their own reliable remaps they would be selling them.

If you work into the equation the extra insurance and the fact at some point you may develop a problem caused by the mapping it then beggars the question is it worth it, these remap engineers have little or no knowledge of the platforms used by Audi software writers to achieve the results required. It all comes down to the old saying, if you want fast buy fast.

Well I cannot see where on the ad it says 150 BHP. 

The thing to do is to look in the spare wheel well and read the engine power from the build code label stuck there or look in the owners manual.. Hopefully it will show the power in PS and KW.  150PS would have been an Ireland special as I believe the lowest power diesel engine in the UK was 177HP.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if under the bonnet there was a 150KW 3 litre V6.

I checked it and he confirmed it, it is Irish car. I got it just now off him.. haha happy!!

Hi Eduard, 

I was browsing through some old Audi road tests the other day. 

The average fell consumption of the A4 TDi 150 tested in May 2016 was 57.8 mpg and that of an 190 equivalent was about 10 mpg less. 

So there is some compensation.

+1 ^ Remaps are cheap, but when it causes other components to fail and the extra cost of insurance you really have to question it. My previous car was a 2016 MK7 Golf R which I got mapped and a few other bits and pieces, dyno'd at 382bhp - very very quick, but the clutch lasted less than 2 days, yes, 2 days, and I consider myself a reasonably mechanically sympathetic driver - cue an £1,100 Sachs upgrade on top of the extra £400 insurance hike.

(still lots of fun though 🙂 Just expensive fun...)

Well I suppose if you don't drink, smoke or run a high maintenance woman why not, I find Stuarts honesty refreshing as most people would just blush and keep quite about it all as it didn't quite work and its embarrassing.

Case in point a guy I know had bought a brand new Vauxhall Corsa for his beloved son to drive back and forth from university, Jnr was definitley not impressed by 70mph on the motorway and got one of his mates to help him find a remap specialist who apparently did a first class job until it started running like a bag of nails, he mentioned this to dad who had paid for the car, dad considers that the next weekend Jnr is home he will book the car in on the Saturday morning at the dealer he bought it from, this will do Jnr a favour as when he crawls out of his pit the car will be fixed, good old dad.

This all went horribly wrong the second they fired up the diagnostics live data, as this was a warranty claim the dealer went into hyperdrive trying to find out what was wrong, dad was rudely awoken by the service engineer and manager telling him his six month old car was no longer under warranty as someone had been fiddling with the ECU and he owed them for the diagnostic and inspection, furthermore if he wanted it back to normal this would involve a new ECU and about two grand to put it right, that was when he rang me to ask for a second opinion, I spoke to the engineer at some length who explained that they get this all the time with youngsters cars to the point where Vauxhall had a special program to trace the original mapping and any map track ghosts left by a plug in the OBD port remap like Blufin.

The guy paid for the repair and told me Jnr when questioned had said he didn't think it would matter and thats why he had not mentioned the remap, most cars that have had remap if you admit its been altered the main dealers and some specialist won't entertain woking on engine problems because of the diversity of mapping profiles used by these expert remappers who would claim to know more than the people who make the cars.
