Morning Everyone

I've been searching for the past week for a part to get for my 2019 B9 S-line Coupe but I don't exactly know what it is called so I am having no luck so far.

I've searched body side mouldings RS5, side skirts and so on but I can't find what it is that I want, assuming that it is possible to buy these parts.

On the attached picture below it's the gloss black section that runs along the bottom of the door. Any help or direction would be more than welcome as I've run out of ideas on what to search for. I've tried ETKA and I've gone direct to Maxton Design but can't find it anywhere

Hello Derek,

I guess you don’t want to walk into your nearest dealer and pay an Audi price the part, otherwise it would be simple.

If you don’t, then I think you may be in difficulty (as you are finding) since breakers are unlikely to remove such door trim pieces - although, of course, they do tend to strip doors as much as practically possible and sell those separately.

Possible avenue incase they would remove this trim from a door, would be to list your ‘want’ on car breaker link systems such as Partsfinder (there are more). These websites inform all breakers linked to their system, and they respond directly to you if they have the part.

It wouldn’t surprise me if their site (or other such sites) may include a facility to add a photo.

Kind regards,

Gareth

Thanks for that Gareth, I hadn't actually considered going directly to Audi oddly enough but I decided to email them. Parts 24 & 27 are what I need at the princely sum of £600 plus prepping, painting and fitting.

I imagine that they are stuck on so there's going to be a slim chance of removal without damaging them if I went to an auto breaker.

I won't give up though. If such a thing exists then I will find it. xenonx.xo.uk do these bits along with side skirts but only for the sportback so I'm going to try them next

Hello Derek,

Pardon my ignorance, but are you looking at this part to replace a damaged one on your car, or is it that your car isn’t actually fitted with them, and you have taken a fancy to having them on your car?

If the latter, then pessimistically? - it’s quite possible you are going to struggle to to find secondhand ones, if they weren’t fitted to all the vehicles at point of build.

Kind regards,

Gareth.

This is my car below. I've never been one for go faster stripes or big spoilers. In fact the first thing I normally do is remove the tailgate badges, dealer stickers etc but there's something about that black trim on a white RS5 that I like but I think you're right, I don't think that I'm going to find it anywhere.

Thanks Derek, I can better understand now. They do look good.

Don’t give up! Still worth registering with Partsfinder etc? Percy Verance often comes to your aid!

Just had another thought:- We hear a fair amount about 3D printers and making plastic components. You have a drawing from Audi, so worth looking into this and seeing how much more detail you would need?

Kind regards,

Gareth.

Sorry Derek, at my age, thoughts come in dribs and drabs!

You might not fancy this, but a practical alternative to add some contrast, might be to consider adding the same outline in stick on ‘decals’. As I understand it these can easily be printed off on a computer, by sign writing specialists.

Kind regards,

Gareth.

All ideas are more than welcome. Even if I don't go with any of your ideas it may give me other ideas on how to get the desired effect.

A decal may be the way to go but an off the shelf one so that if I decide I don't want it further on down the road I can always remove it.

Thanks

Derek
