Brian74656
Hi guys I'm planning on taking a road trip from cherbourg through France into northern Spain next year, plan to drive across the piraneese mountains and spend the last week on the Costa brava before driving back through France, has anyone done this any advice or recommended places to stop or stay overnight on route. All advice is welcome, it will be me and the wife no children. I was planning on a stop over in niece, is this a good idea? Trevor
Hi Brian You should look into the rules and regs (which seem to change regularly) https://www.gov.uk/driving-abroad Doesn't seem to be too many restrictions at the moment regarding documentation after Brexit/Covid but still worth covering all the bases to ensure you stick to the rules. Check also that you do not need a Crit'Air or Vignette to travel any of the roads you intend to drive
Anton8
Hi Driven down to Spain many times. On and off motorways. If you are thinking of stopping on The Costa Brava Hotel Alga in Callela de Parafugell is OK. It's 3 star trying very hard to be four. Nice gardens 5 minute stroll to the beach. C de P is very chic. Return journey must be made on the Autoroute so that you cross the Millau viaduct. It is a cable stay bridge designed by Norman Foster. The motorway deck is 1000ft high. The view is really rather good. Bon Voyage Tony

Not so good on a motorbike as gets a bit blustery up that high and crosswinds are horrific....but adrenaline rush 🙂

Anton8
You will not regret it. Once over the viaduct you can pull off the Autoroute and go to the viewing area where there are toilets ect.
