Main seal oil leak

Hi all, i have just bought an audi q7 3 weeks ago and absolutely love the car. But i have noticed a minor leak at the bottom which isnt dripping but i can see it gather up a little bit. I took it to audi specialist and they said it is the main seal that is leaking and directed me to take it to main audi dealer. Can you guys please share your thoughts on this matter? Is this a common issue? Ive read somewhere that it normally happens around 100k. I have a 2013 q7 with 89k on the clock.

Thanks in advance for your helpful responses.

Hi is it where the gearbox connects to the engine if so thats the crank rear seal which would probably mean a new clutch while they were in there, but I definitely would not be going to Audi for that job, find a good independent garage with some minerals to do the job, or if its just weeping slightly leave it until the clutch packs up.

Hi having had a word with those that do these things my informant says its most likely the seal behind the torque convertor if its a DSG set up. either way its one hell of a strip down.

Hi Stevey,

Yes it is where the engine connects with the gearbox. I have a 6 months gold warranty with warrantywise so hoping they will cover this work if it is the crank seal. If anything i will get a full report after the check from audi to confirm where the cause is. Then make a decision after speaking to warranty bods. Also do you have any contacts that have done this sort of work at a reasonable price incase i end up getting fobbed off?
