jamescmartin13
I have an Audi A4 - 2007 plate, with a 2l Turbo TFSI petrol engine, 100k miles, and my oil level goes down from the maximum mark on the dipstick down to the minimum mark after about 2,500 miles - then it needs topping up with about 1 litre of oil.Is this normal consumption or the beginning of a problem?James
James
Sounds reasonably normal to me. A lot of Audi models use long life oil which is designed to burn off slightly and be topped up every now and again. What oil are you putting in? Amac
I wouldnt worry too much about that much consumption. As engines get older the cylinder bores tend to wear and allow small amounts of lubricant to escape past the oil control rings into the cylinder were it is burnt along with the fuel and air mix. As long as your motor continues to burn that amount and does not start drinking oil at a much higher rate it should be alright. A positive outcome is that your engine will appreciate all of that fresh lube you feed it with! Andy
