Hi all, I did a search but couldn't find anything conclusive on this.
Quick background for posting this: I got a text saying my personal fuel card from Fuelpecker has now changed to WEX ESSO and there was a link to sign up. Naturally sceptical, I contacted Fuelpecker and Googled to see if there was something to confirm this was legit. I've been filling up at ESSO for years, partly because of the discount, I pass four ESSO services daily and I was under the impression that cheaper supermarket fuels are of a lower quality. While looking for something to back up the text, I found these posts:

It got me thinking and my questions are: what do you guys fill up your cars with, so-called quality fuels from BP, Shell, ESSO, supermarket fuel, or the premium stuff? And do you notice any difference between them?
In my own experience, my previous A4 B8 diesel didn't run well on fuel from Tesco, so I switched to ESSO all the time with the discount card, and after some years started using Millers diesel treatment and now Archoil. I've never tried the fuel additives with Tesco fuel.
I can also add to this I've tried all the premium fuels, and BP was by far the best in terms of getting more MPG and performance, without the addition of a fuel additive.

My wife has a VW Golf 1.4 TSI 2016 and has been loosing coolant similar to your experience, which was the water pump. It was easy to identify the pooling on top of gearbox. Cost at VAG specialist using OEM part was £466
My A5 B9 looses a small amount of coolant (max to min in a few K miles) and has been pressure tested, but I can now see dried water/coolant at the outlet pipe underneath the reservoir.
If I were you I'd get a second opinion before spending £950

It looks like the YARA is discontinued at Halfords now. I used Redex this time. It's almost double the price of other brands like Greenchem and MANNOL

Thanks Steve. I noticed when looking for wheels some of the tyres are AO Hankook.
They're one of the few I haven't tried, and the reviews are positive for the Evo 3, so I've nothing to lose currently.
Riken UHP have come up a few times too, but with more mixed reviews being a love / hate trend.

Great news you've got this sorted. What is the part number for the sensor? Do you have a photo of it's location? It would be really helpful should anyone else have the same issue.

This is the sensor I was referring to, but I can't remember which one it is. If I recall, it's very conveniently located on the top of the engine. There's a thread on the topic (possibly on here or VWAudi forum) that has the info needed.

I very much doubt it's the DPF.
That code is for the EGR cooler. I documented my progress on this in the A5 section.

I have been running Goodyear Eagle F1 AS3s for years on both my old A4 and current A5 getting what I consider to be a respectable 16-18k miles on the front.
Now these tyres have been superseded by the AS5 and AS6 but with all the reviews saying the tyres wear significantly faster, from people like myself who ran the AS3, I'm considering an alternative before I part with the cash and find out for myself.
Having gone through Pirelli P Zeros, Michelin Primacy and Continental Sport Contact in around 10-12k I won't be repeating that experience.
Nexen has had a mention on here a few times but I have no idea which type to try.
I mainly do motorway miles; if anyone can make a suggestion for alternative brands, it would be much appreciated 🙂

What's the engine code?
There's a pressure sensor that's part of the EGR system which will give the same error code if faulty at ~£90
I'd enquire with the dealer to find a way forward with a local repair.

I wonder how this played out....on my A5 I went from 245/40 R18 to 255/35 R19 both OEM wheels
The ride isn't noticeably different constantly rolling on A roads, however they definitely feel bumpier for some of the lanes I occasionally drive on.

Advice given to me from a VAG specialist on this topic:
A tuning box is easy to spot; it's a physical unit and if you crash your car and haven't told insurance it'll void your policy. And they're s#!t.
Remaps can only be discovered if someone is looking for it specifically, and knows exactly what they are doing. Insurance companies don't do this. Audi may however inadvertently reset it 😆

It's funny really. I try to keep the cars as long as possible, and these extra little preventative maintenance things do pay back over and over.
And for what, an extra 15 minutes work when the brakes are dismantled; it's hardly any effort.
I was boring though and opted for black which by his standards must make the car go slower 🙄
