  1. Hello Anthea, Welcome and thanks for joining. Failing rear electrics - the car is old enough to potentially suffer from fractured wires within the flexible harness section twixt body and tailgate/boot. Not claiming this is your problem, but always worth a first line eliminator, before moving on to more complex causes. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
  2. Hello Mark, Are these the inset/internal hexagonal plugs? If so, Apologies but I don’t know the size off hand. What I have here is a set of Laser brand multi sized hex ( and square I think) drain plug sockets. These were cheap at the time and probably not the best for continuous work, but has served my DIY needs when put into use. This would be my choice for the way forward. One tip (which you probably know) is always undo the filler plug first. Never undo the drain plug first, Incase ( why does Incase always come up with a capital I with this system!?) you then find you can’t undo the filler. Big problem then! Kind regards, Gareth.
  3. Hello Mike, Surely the only worry you have is the inconvenience of taking the car to the main dealer in 2 weeks time, and there isn’t any need for you to be concerned about the reason for the issue - should all be sorted under the warranty. Kind regards, Gareth.
  4. Welcome Isaac, and thanks for joining. Are the working and non working front and rear brakes diagonally opposite? If so, could be associated with ABS-? ‘…help a brother out….’ Masonic? Kind regards, Gareth.
  5. Hello John, Have you read the more recent thread - ‘Most warning lights on’? Kind regards, Gareth.
  6. Hell Kendal Steve, The two stumbling blocks here, are surface cleanliness of the mating surfaces, and the ‘quality’ of the adhesive to use. The likelihood is that you won’t be able to buy an economical small quality of the necessary professional adhesive, and any attempt to use a sub standard product will result in an almost impossible situation to retrieve. If this were mine, I would be searching for Classic Car Trimmers in the area, and seeking advice there. We all like to DIY things, but I fear this is one job where specialist materials will be required. Kind regards, Gareth.
  7. What did you actually see to confirm the flywheel is the issue here Martyn?
  8. Hello Martyn, I would certainly be getting a second opinion on this, since as you will appreciate, this is going to be an expensive job. If it were mine, I would be taking it to a trusted local independent and seeking advice there. Noises appearing immediately after repair work, might ( in caps) by coincidental, but unusual to be so. How did you actually see this suspect flywheel issue when you returned the car? Kind regards, Gareth.
  9. Hello John, Taking 30 seconds to fully shut down and give ‘tens of milliamps’ discharge seems fine to me. Anything around 50mA after the car has fully shut down should be OK. Kind regards, Gareth.
  10. Hello Asad, Looks to be deposited by some ‘outside influence’. Have you looked at the under- bonnet insulation? Kind regards, Gareth.
  11. Hello Andrew, Welcome, and thanks for joining. Boiling this down:- You aren’t now doing much mileage, yet you are considering putting considerable funds into buying more modern examples - which overall don’t seem to tick the boxes for you. Quite understandable. Advice for what it’s worth:- Stick with what you have - it will probably still be whining this time next year, but still proceeding along. Kind regards, Gareth.
  12. Thanks Joel, Again saying it as it is, your Facebook contact is simply repeating what I have already told you. I think if you want to use Covid as a reason/excuse then that obviously becomes your choice - as does putting your faith in an Audi warranty being the answer to the maiden’s prayer. No one on here sets out to put a damper on anyone’s interest in buying anything, but all I can say is that it’s easy to fall in love with a car - until you own it! We can only give advice in relation to the question asked, and in this case, the evidence points to an incorrect claim of FSH. This is unquestionable - unless other evidence (non existent at this stage) is presented. Whether you buy the car, and a £1500 warranty over 3 years, now really becomes your choice Joel, but whatever decision you make, will be a decision made in relation to the answers to the question you asked. Genuine good luck with whatever you decide to do. Kind regards, Gareth.
  13. Hello Joel, Can I say it as I see it? You are trying to convince yourself that all maybe (in caps) alright, without evidence that it is. In reality, everything you now say are assumptions, and we all know what that word can be broken down to. The car hasn’t really had the best of servicing with the last owner, but only to the bare minimum requirement. Extended warranty?? Yes of course you can pay c£1,500 over 3 years for a warranty - with you paying the first £250 of each and every claim - and locked in to paying Audi servicing charges?? A warranty maybe a handy backstop to have, but every claim comes with hassle and the inevitable ‘it’s wear and take and not covered’. Again, saying it as I see it, I wouldn’t be surprised if you convince yourself to buy it. Please bare in mind that you will hopefully get other opinions on here. Kind regards, Gareth. Gareth.
  14. Any owners of the above models like to help Joel out by posting their ownership experiences?
  15. Thanks Martyn, Pessimistic view - so since clutch wear is inevitable, I doubt that will be covered under warranty. Great if the DMF is. Why failure at a modest mileage? From faulty component, to over enthusiastic driving. Kind regards, Gareth.
