  1. Thanks Mark, If you search - say EBay - you will find sets of variable sizes, one of which should suit your needs, and who knows, some of the others maybe of use at some other time. Repeating - you don’t need to find the size, just buy a multi set. Kind regards, Gareth.
  2. Thanks David, Have I got it wrong, but did you post a similar thread recently? Kind regards, Gareth.
  3. Thanks Les -? Saying it as it is, the only clue you give us is that it’s a stop/start battery, and regrettably you have chosen/can’t be bothered to, either give your name, model of car or your location. As one of the other moderators often says ‘ we are a friendly and helpful group’, and indeed we are, but….. help yourself to gain the help you need! Rant over, except a please or thank you wouldn’t’ go amiss. Answer - almost certainly yes.
  4. Hello Jubel, I would say any such coolant consumption - irrespective of model or engine - is abnormal. Our humble 174K A3 barely needs anything between it now 6K/year use. There is either an external leak, or it is being combusted. Have you carried out:- Inspection for any visible external leakage? Run the car for about 10 miles, park, get an assistant to rev. the engine to a steady 2000 rpm and hold it there for 2mins. while you observe the colour of the exhaust gasses? Kind regards, Gareth.
  5. Hello Anthea, Welcome and thanks for joining. Failing rear electrics - the car is old enough to potentially suffer from fractured wires within the flexible harness section twixt body and tailgate/boot. Not claiming this is your problem, but always worth a first line eliminator, before moving on to more complex causes. Perhaps you could let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
  6. Hello Mark, Are these the inset/internal hexagonal plugs? If so, Apologies but I don’t know the size off hand. What I have here is a set of Laser brand multi sized hex ( and square I think) drain plug sockets. These were cheap at the time and probably not the best for continuous work, but has served my DIY needs when put into use. This would be my choice for the way forward. One tip (which you probably know) is always undo the filler plug first. Never undo the drain plug first, Incase ( why does Incase always come up with a capital I with this system!?) you then find you can’t undo the filler. Big problem then! Kind regards, Gareth.
  7. Hello Mike, Surely the only worry you have is the inconvenience of taking the car to the main dealer in 2 weeks time, and there isn’t any need for you to be concerned about the reason for the issue - should all be sorted under the warranty. Kind regards, Gareth.
  8. Welcome Isaac, and thanks for joining. Are the working and non working front and rear brakes diagonally opposite? If so, could be associated with ABS-? ‘…help a brother out….’ Masonic? Kind regards, Gareth.
  9. Hello John, Have you read the more recent thread - ‘Most warning lights on’? Kind regards, Gareth.
  10. Hell Kendal Steve, The two stumbling blocks here, are surface cleanliness of the mating surfaces, and the ‘quality’ of the adhesive to use. The likelihood is that you won’t be able to buy an economical small quality of the necessary professional adhesive, and any attempt to use a sub standard product will result in an almost impossible situation to retrieve. If this were mine, I would be searching for Classic Car Trimmers in the area, and seeking advice there. We all like to DIY things, but I fear this is one job where specialist materials will be required. Kind regards, Gareth.
  11. What did you actually see to confirm the flywheel is the issue here Martyn?
  12. Hello Martyn, I would certainly be getting a second opinion on this, since as you will appreciate, this is going to be an expensive job. If it were mine, I would be taking it to a trusted local independent and seeking advice there. Noises appearing immediately after repair work, might ( in caps) by coincidental, but unusual to be so. How did you actually see this suspect flywheel issue when you returned the car? Kind regards, Gareth.
  13. Hello John, Taking 30 seconds to fully shut down and give ‘tens of milliamps’ discharge seems fine to me. Anything around 50mA after the car has fully shut down should be OK. Kind regards, Gareth.
  14. Hello Asad, Looks to be deposited by some ‘outside influence’. Have you looked at the under- bonnet insulation? Kind regards, Gareth.
  15. Hello Andrew, Welcome, and thanks for joining. Boiling this down:- You aren’t now doing much mileage, yet you are considering putting considerable funds into buying more modern examples - which overall don’t seem to tick the boxes for you. Quite understandable. Advice for what it’s worth:- Stick with what you have - it will probably still be whining this time next year, but still proceeding along. Kind regards, Gareth.
  16. Thanks Joel, Again saying it as it is, your Facebook contact is simply repeating what I have already told you. I think if you want to use Covid as a reason/excuse then that obviously becomes your choice - as does putting your faith in an Audi warranty being the answer to the maiden’s prayer. No one on here sets out to put a damper on anyone’s interest in buying anything, but all I can say is that it’s easy to fall in love with a car - until you own it! We can only give advice in relation to the question asked, and in this case, the evidence points to an incorrect claim of FSH. This is unquestionable - unless other evidence (non existent at this stage) is presented. Whether you buy the car, and a £1500 warranty over 3 years, now really becomes your choice Joel, but whatever decision you make, will be a decision made in relation to the answers to the question you asked. Genuine good luck with whatever you decide to do. Kind regards, Gareth.
  17. Hello Joel, Can I say it as I see it? You are trying to convince yourself that all maybe (in caps) alright, without evidence that it is. In reality, everything you now say are assumptions, and we all know what that word can be broken down to. The car hasn’t really had the best of servicing with the last owner, but only to the bare minimum requirement. Extended warranty?? Yes of course you can pay c£1,500 over 3 years for a warranty - with you paying the first £250 of each and every claim - and locked in to paying Audi servicing charges?? A warranty maybe a handy backstop to have, but every claim comes with hassle and the inevitable ‘it’s wear and take and not covered’. Again, saying it as I see it, I wouldn’t be surprised if you convince yourself to buy it. Please bare in mind that you will hopefully get other opinions on here. Kind regards, Gareth. Gareth.
  18. Any owners of the above models like to help Joel out by posting their ownership experiences?
  19. Thanks Martyn, Pessimistic view - so since clutch wear is inevitable, I doubt that will be covered under warranty. Great if the DMF is. Why failure at a modest mileage? From faulty component, to over enthusiastic driving. Kind regards, Gareth.
  20. You are very welcome Joel, The car may ( in caps) have been serviced prior to 26K by some garage which didn’t have access to the VAG recording system, but this is only a guess, unless substantiated by some receipts, which would have been necessary to satisfy the warranty. Perhaps this is being cynical, but how uncommon is it for PCP owners to ‘get away with’ the least amount of servicing they can, since they are not keeping it-? VAG service options - as I understand it:- Fixed - for vehicles covering around less than 10k a year. These vehicles should have an oil service once a year. Flexible - Vehicles covering >10k a year. These will be serviced depending on the vehicle’s usage as calculated by the ‘computer’ and generally works out at around 18k intervals, or no longer than 18 month intervals - whichever comes first. Hope some of this helps, and good luck with finding what you are looking for. A personal view:- Full service history is desirable when carried out as it should be, but in my book is not king, and can simply prove the car has spent half a day at a dealer every now and then, and might have been thrashed and generally uncared for for the other 364.5 days. Just let us know if we can be of further help. Kind regards, Gareth.
  21. Hello Graham, Welcome, thanks for joining, and sorry to hear of your issue. Straight from Stevey Y’s previous advice ( sorry to pinch Steve), try LLL Audi on line enquiry. If it doesn’t work blame Steve! Please leave us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
  22. Hello Martyn, From what you describe, you seem to be coming up with your own diagnosis, and if so, the answer is a new DMF and clutch assembly. Kind regards, Gareth.
  23. Welcome Philip. Glad you are pleased with it. Kind regards, Gareth.
  24. Hello Joel, Welcome and thanks for joining. Am I reading this incorrectly? To me, it seems it hasn’t had any (recorded) servicing until it was 2.25 years old, and had covered 26k miles, and this was only an Inspection service. It then gets its first oil service when it’s near to 3 years old, and covered just under 30k. All of the above was under the first owner - on PCP for a bet! It’s the ‘I’m not keeping it, so I don’t care’ syndrome. It then moves to its second owner who covers 20k miles on a flexible service plan ( oil changes around every 18k type service) and gets one oil service in that time. Is this car being advertised with Full Service History? If so, then that’s really taking artistic licence! If it isn’t, then to be fair, the seller isn’t making any unreasonable claims about its servicing history. If I was in your situation, then I would be walking away from this. Apologies, if this isn’t what you expected to hear, or if I’ve got it wrong. Kind regards, Gareth.
