  1. Welcome to the forum Mark :)

sorry to hear your not happy with your a3. Unfortunately I'm unable to help as iv not driven an a3 with the 1.5 engine. Have you had a diagnostic check run on it at all?

However the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch and I'm sure one of them can help you more :)

    cheers

I had my emissions recall done in April 2017 the car was perfect before I took it. They did whatever they did to it then gave my car back. I drove it about 2 miles when the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree the engine light on constant even still today also the coil light kept blinking. Now we're in September 2017 and car has been in limp mode for 4 weeks now. So far I've had a new maf sensor and a new battery still in limp mode though. Audi have broken my car I still have over 3 years to pay it off and it's out of warranty although the emissions work is still under warranty as they give you 1 years warranty on it. Should audi remove the emissions remap for free as I don't want it and would like it returned to how it was.

Sorry to hear this, but you should definitely take it back to Audi and atleast complain.

Id bet money that they tell you it needs a new dpf or egr/egr cooler.

Also have you had a diagnostic check done on the car?

Oh and I would strongly advise you don't drive the car in limo mode regularly as you can do more damage to it.

    Cheers

  3. Your welcome :)

ah ok, well iv learnt something new today!

The only other thing I can think of is whether a chartered flight was made for important staff to take them to the motor shows. You know like Geneva for example?

    Sorry I can't help more though :/

what I also don't get is how the seller knows nothing about it. Seems abit odd to me. When I buy from eBay (which is a lot) I find it odd if the person doesn't know what they are selling. Let's face it this isn't an item you find at a carboot or in your grandmothers garage if you see what I mean.

    Cheers

  4. A one owner car is always good but certainly check to see if the cambelt has been done :)

As I say a remap should push the 140 to 170. In terms of preference they are both good cars and will drive very similar. It's not always about the engine though. Both cars may have different specs. It's always good to go for a S Line or black edition if you can. On looking at your first post the car your looking at is the black edition which is great! :)

I have to say that's a big tax difference.

    Cheers

Being very proud to be British this kinda gets my back up. Especially as the world together talks BHP, especially on the aftermarket and performance tuning circles!! Even the Americans take BHP. And car dealers still sell in BHP!

I believe the first measurements engine wise was just horse power HP equivalence but this evolved to BHP Brake-horsepower or scientifically as 'mechanical horsepower' (pinch yourself if you are falling to sleep 😴)

PS stands for the German word 'pferdestärke' or 'horse strength' but is a metric scale. BHP is approx 98.6% of this so 1PS = 0.986BHP. (We obviously breed better stronger horses in the 🇬🇧 lol).

The car market widely interchanges these figure. In the world of VAG the 2.0 TDI engine was most commonly designated 140PS and 170PS but referred to as 140 and 170BHP (Are you still awake?!?) The easy way to convert this is to drop 1 BHP for every 70PS, so a 140PS car is basically 138BHP! This is an approximation that is easily used.

Now, Kw or Kilowatt, introduced in the early 90's was an EU thing. It didn't catch on for about 10 years but even today while quoted in all brochures etc BHP is still the figures preferred. Now that we are seeing more hybrid technology etc it's becoming more popular.

Again using the 140PS or 138BHP engine, times the PS value by 0.7457 which gives approx 104.5 Kw.

Though to simplify things (stop yawning!!)

Times the Kw value by 1.32 to give BHP and 1.34 to give PS. And just drop 1BHP for every 70PS.

    E.g. 104.5Kw engine is (104.5 * 1.34)= 140PS (-2)= 138BHP.

My car is a 180ps which basically is 177BHP Or a 134.3Kw engine.

    Clear as mud.:wine: I need a drink!!

Thanks for clearing that up Dan! :)

  6. Welcome to the forum :)

youll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :)

any a3 can be remapped and they all benefit from this and taking a 140bhp car to 170bhp should easily be doable.

In terms of the cambelt of its on 80k and a 2912 model then i would say it certainly needs a new cambelt and waterpump by now.

    Cheers

  7. Welcome to the forum :)

I'm unsure if it's worth anything to be honest. Looking on google didn't flag anything up for me. How does the seller know it's a chartered flight and if it's BA why aren't there BA logos on it?

The only new product Audi launched in 2004 was the a6 c6 which came out in the April of that year.

    Hope iv helped :)

    cheers

That's useful info Piotr :) nice to see they are following other manufacturers :)

again it depends what model you buy as audi will give you 8k if you buy a new Q7.

Also it's only valid for cars made before 2009.
