  1. Hi All, I am new to this forum, and i'm writing this to see if anyone can help me diagnose a problem with my car, an Audi A4 B7. The problem i have is that the rear number plate lights are both not working. I previously had LED bulbs in them and randomly they both shut off, which is unusual because if a bulb is bad the one that's bad will turn off. I changed the bulbs for some original halogen ones and still nothing. Only when i start the engine they turn on and the boot must stay closed to keep them on, as soon as i open the boot they both turn off and refuse to come on. Then if close the boot, turn the lights off and on again from the inside switch, absolutely nothing. I then looked for a fuse and couldn't find one, i removed the comfort module fuse (20amp yellow), and reinstalled it to have the bulbs turn on again. If i turn the engine off and return later on they don't come on, and i need to remove the fuse and reinstall the fuse again to turn them back on. Also if i swap the bulbs for different ones they work, but the same problem persists they turn off when the engine turns off and don't come back on. I've had this problem for a couple of weeks, and wondering if anyone is having the same problem or knows a way round this, as the MOT is also coming up soon. Thanks Suhail
  2. Hi Everyone, My name is Simon, I have just joined the forum as a proud Audi owner, nice to meet you all. I own a 2014 Audi A4 B8.5 3.0TDI quattro Avant with sports suspensions (but not air suspensions), I love it, but something bothers me. I have recently noticed that the rear passenger side suspension is 1cm higher than the rear driver side by measuring the distance between the center of the wheel and the wheel arch on many flat surfaces with the same result. The car never had an accident. I brought it in at an Audi dealer, they found out that the left rear damper has been replaced under warranty in 2018 before I bought the car so they said that the problem could be because one damper was new and the other still "old". Replaced the right damper (the "old" one), the issued was not solved, still 1cm higher on the left. Replaced the springs with new ones, issue still there. Verdict: The car is fine, up to 1cm difference between suspensions is tolerated by Audi and considered normal. Has anyone noticed or experienced anything like this? I know it's not a massive issue but should I just accept it and leave with it? I have tried to search for the same issue but I haven't found anything like this, sorry in advance if this was already discussed. Simo
  3. Just had the MOT done and it failed on a Nearside Rear Brake Light and passenger side windscreen wiper failure. The wiper ball joint is worn so it comes off, clipped it back on and changed bulb job done. Had advisories for ball joints not excessive and an advisory for rear sub frame. The car has done 17 thousand miles in the last year I've had the Cam Belts Tension and risers done as well as the water Pump fitted at same time. Alternator Belt and Tensioner replaced HT leads and spark plugs replaced. Front exhaust expansion pipe broke and replaced Rear Sub Frame bolt snapped and repaired (Nearly wrote car off when it happened my heart was in my !Removed!) New Battery 8 Tyres 2 on the front and 6 on the back. The passenger window has failed makes a grinding noise when trying to operate via switch, used to fall down but some lolipop sticks sorted that one Passenger wiper not working The handbrake failed one day and it rolled off and hit a wall small scrape down passenger side Someone drove into it in the car park and left it with a broken front offside indicator Intermittent ABS light Front lamp failure warning lights, rear brake light failure warning light are constantly flashing Stills leaks water on passenger side Still a formidable car in my opinion despite its issues.... Happy Motoring All.

  5. Hello everyone, As a fan of all things audi I thought it's only right to join a forum or club. My local clubs are let's say, financed warranty wannabes. Looking for a forum with a mix of cars and ages of cars, people etc and came across AOC. Had a read through some of the chats and guides and thought yes this is the one for me! Anyway, I am a mechanic, I live in Tamworth staffs, I work on landrovers and jaguars for a living, purely because it pays the bills, but I have always had a passion for VAG, 😂. Only owned 1 Ford in the last 13 year's.. I have owned several vw and audi models, mostly older. A3 a4 golf tt a6 etc I have worked on and fixed a variety of issues and faults from electrical to mechanical on most of the range apart from the really new stuff. So hopefully I have some knowledge that I can share with you guys and gals in return for the knowledge I have taken from here in recent months. Anyway, be nice to chat and maybe even see some faces of likeminded people at a future Audi meet. Chris The Brummie Mechanic
  6. Afternoon, New Audi buyer here, not picked the car up yet, but pick up the keys in a couple of days. I've come over from a Golf R, and got myself a really sweet 2015 A4 2.0 TDI S-line Black Edition +. This will be my 4th VAG car, my first Audi though. Was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of things to keep an eye on with car? Have had a browse through the forum and nothing leaps out and grabs my attention, which I hope is a good sign. Also, Do you have any meets/road trips/Breakfast runs etc.? I live in Suffolk and could not see anything on the forum about meets in the east of the country. Am happy to travel anywhere. Have a good evening everyone.
  7. Hi All, Wondering if anyone has purchased the Audi Music Interface, I want to play videos the monitor but tried on SD card and not had any luck in various formats. A few youtube videos have mentioned the Audi Music Interface cable. Has anyone tried? Or know anyone that's got the cable? Thanks Hass
  8. I thinks that updating the mmi will corrupt the mmi and have knock on effects and not allow me ever to drive the car again. and that there is no way of putting the car back because I dont have the orignal firmware disc. is this true?
  9. Hi,I've had a look through this forum and couldn't come up with any answers. Its a shame but i think my 1995 Audi A4 will have to be scrapped even though it is mechanically sound. It won't start for more than a couple of seconds before stalling. Was led to believe this is in relation to the immobiliser, flashing orange light on the dash that won't go out.I replaced the reader coil and bought a new ignition barrel and keys from Audi as the ignition reader is integrated and believed that would help fix it. Trouble is, Audi sold me that part but don't have the software that goes that far back to code the keys. All auto-electircans i've tried don't have software for a car that old.I'm a bit miffed that Audi Uk still sell a part that they don't have the software to code and hope they will be able to refund me.Does anyone have any hope for me or is it the end of the road for my Audi?
  10. Anyone know why my Audi shreds and strips my back tyres? Top image is my rear tyre bottom is front. I bought 4 part worn Goodyear Vector Eagles with 5mm tread The guy at garage measured them when we got them and they were 5.4mm this was on the 4th of May I have done 1,854 miles and need to replace the rear ones already this has been ongoing since I have had the car I have had them tracked balanced numerous times and no difference any ideas as to why this happens?
  11. Please can I ask for advice and guidance about my A4. It's a 2003 convertible, silver with dark blue hood. Last year the glass in the hood came away from the fabric which meant water was able to get in. Took it to my local garage who made a pigs ear of it, decided to take it off the road for the winter and under a wrap to keep the rain out. We tried again earlier this year to reglue the glass to the fabric of the hood, and it failed again, so made the decision to get a new hood Done some research and found a second hand hood in good condition, in blue. My problem is finding a mechanic who can fit it as it is a specialist skill. I'd like to find an alternative to taking it to the usual hood specialists as they are charging between £750 to £900 to replace the hood. I love my car and it drives beautifully, but the reality is its done 101k miles and that is a lot of money to spend when the car itself is not worth much more. It would be a great help to find a place where they can fit the hood I've sourced. Feeling very sad as I can't drive it with all the rain we've had. Can anyone help please?
  12. Hi all, Has anyone used Ravenol oil in a A4 2009 2.0TDI CVT OAW transmission, if so any info would be appreciated. Regards SJN
  13. Hi Everyone. I have recently purchased a Q7 and I am now looking to buy either a TT or A4 Cabriolet AUTO. Given my budget the age-range of these would be from 2003-2006 I Imagine. By the sounds of it the biggest issue with these cars is the cambelt, just wondering if some Audi experts can give some advice whether these models/age would be worh pursuing given the issues. Thanks
  14. Have acquired an RCD310 radio with Bluetooth from a 2011 Golf. Looking to replace my Audi Symphony factory unit. Has anyone had any success or knowledge in fitting one into an A4 B6?
  15. Hi everyone. Just by way of introduction, I have just joined the group as I have just taken delivery of a new A4 S Line Quattro 2.0 TDI Black Edition Saloon in Quantum Grey. This is my very first Audi, and so far I am delighted with it. The car has the following extras: Technology Pack, Adaptive Suspension, LED Matrix Headlights, Extended LED interior lighting, Front and Rear heated seats and Storage Pack. I love the virtual cockpit, and the quality of the interior is in my opinion better than the competition. I bought the car from Bristol Audi, who I can say provided an overall excellent experience. The only issue so far has been that I was getting a knocking noise from the offside rear over some rough roads. I telephoned them and was able to take the car straight in for inspection and it was found that the 'transportation bump stop" on that wheel had not been removed properly. Within 15 minutes the fault was resolved and sorted and what a difference that made to the quality of the ride! Looking forward to some happy motoring.......
  16. The purge valve on my 2002 A4 1.6 (ALZ engine) has broken. I can't find a part number on the valve itself, just on the rubber holder which appears to have two part numbers: O6B 133 459 D and PXO 421 212-10. Are any of those for the purge valve? I have searched the websites of the local car parts stores, but I have been unable to find a purge valve for my car: Either they aren't in stock or they are listed as not compatible with my car despite that they look very much like the old one. What might make them incompatible? Are there any differences between purge valves besides the size of the hoses and type of electrical connector that connect to them? Are there any reputable web shops that have this part at a reasonable price? Are there any low quality manufacturer of these valves that are best avoided?
  17. Hi I am new to this forum so hope I have posted to the correct place. I have a 2004 A4 Avante and the headlight buzzer has stopped working. My wife has now left the lights on 3 times and flattened the battery. After a lot of searching, it seems the buzzer is in the instrument cluster and fixing it seems a bit risky. I have come across a universal kit https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Headlight-On-Buzzer-Alarm-Reminder-Kit-Universal-Save-your-car-Battery-/281041160984 which looks like it will do the trick. I have no real car electrics experience but as far as I can make out, I need to connect the red wire to the live of the headlights (i.e. it is live when the lights are on) and the black one connected to either the door switch (such that it goes to earth when door is opened) or ideally to something that goes to earth when the ignition is turned off. I have found a few YouTube videos which seem to imply that this can be connected into the fuse board somehow but on the A4 I can't fix out where I would connect it to? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks Lee.
  18. Hi, just joined the group and looking forward to getting involved, my first question: I'm looking to buy a 2014/5 A4 Avant 2.0d Black Edition Auto (think I've found the car!) and having ever so slight OCDish I like things symmetrical (I could not buy an Alfa, that number plate!!) So the one (twin) exhaust outlet haunts me!! 😱 I've done some research and have found a conversion to 2 outlets RS4 in style. Wondered if anyone has any knowledge of these conversions I'm sure it will fix my OCD nightmare but will it make a noise difference? are there other benefits or negatives on the conversion? This is the one I'm looking at: https://clptuning.co.uk/product/milltek-dual-exit-exhaust-with-valance-audi-a4-b8-2-0tdi-s-line/ Thanks all appreciate any and all comments!
  19. Good evening, audi enthusiasts! I have audi a4 b5 2000 facelift sedan model and im looking for LED number plate lights but im unable to find them for this specific model because they are different from others who have simple black adapter inside. They are more similar to B6 version but with 2 screws. Even internet shops struggle with this. Does anyone can help with this?
  20. Never a dull moment with this car, new minor I hope issue. Every now and again randomly it makes a short low 2-3 second sound weird errrr noise only on cold start up? Should I be worried or just minor I can ignore? I recall my golf mk4 starter motor for years made a loud horrible sweek on start up but I could not be bothered to spend the money to replace as it did not effect driving the Car.
  21. Hi all I was wondering what you think of me changing my back light the the LED style back light here; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Back-Rear-Tail-Lights-Lamps-Replace-Red-Black-LED-Pair-For-Audi-A4-B5-11-94-9-00-/371058469542?fits=Car+Make%3AAudi|Model%3AA4&hash=item5664ceeaa6:g:RccAAOSw4shYBzl4 And Angel Head lights http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A4-B5-Type-8D-1999-2001-Chrome-Angel-Eyes-Headlights-Pair-Universal-RHD-LHD-/121572934133?fits=Car+Make%3AAudi|Model%3AA4&hash=item1c4e4fc1f5:g:eZUAAOSwPhdU4ylk I'm really wanting these, want to see what you guys think, but I may go ahead with it soon same with having my wheels gloss black. Already have windows black out (second photo is without blacked out windows)
  22. Helllooooo... Wondering if someone can help as i seem to be getting nowhere with my local Audi garage.. We bought the black edition purely as its petrol (seem petrol is rare down our way)and for the banging B&O system as we love our music. In our car however theres a wired AMI connection in the glove box and its driving us crazy.. To cut a long story short we use the iphone cable for the music but we see problems every single day and sometimes it doesnt work at all. The issues vary from not recognising a cable or device at all, to freezing. Over the months we have gone through various genuine audi AMI iphone cables, and settled on an iphone extension lead as to take the pressure of the audi cable as i suspected at first the constant wear and tear was causing the problem. This works but we still have the problems regardless of using this extension to the genuine audi cable directly. Seeing as Audi have had the car for a whole day and not found a fault they are now leaning on the outcome that as the car gets older and the phones get newer, compatibility will drop and there isnt anything they can do grrrr.. So this leads me to my real questions from some audi experts... 1) IF we upgrade to an aftermarket head unit what happens to the high screen in the dash, will we lose this? 2) if we upgrade to an aftermarket head unit with say Apple Car Play functionality, how does this effect the high screen in terms of displaying the vehicle graphics such as parking sensors, heating controls, general menus for adjusting car settings etc? 3) I have considered adding a bluetooth receiver to the USB AMI cable to eliminate the physical connection all together, can anyone confirm this is a good idea bearing in mind the car uses bluetooth for the phone? Really hope someone has some good ideas!
  23. Hello, Im New, but I hope someone will advise me. I need to change a full suspension (front nad rear) In my audi A4 B6 2002 Avant. I would ask for help to find rear suspension kit. for example. i found this for front: https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/For-Audi-A4-B6-B7-2001-2002-2003-2004-2005-2006-Front-suspension-arms-kit-16mm-/251495249048 but i cant find a rear kit like this. maybe somebody know where i can but it. 24. Hello, I have 3.0tdi BKN Manual A4. When its all warmed up fully and i go and stop it, and wait say 10 minutes and start it again it will do half a crank over and then kinda sticks then speeds up again. It goes with a clunk when it does it, almost seems like it hydrolocks itself. Could it be a leaking injector and then fills up the bore? It never does it when its cold tho but it takes a while to build fuel presure if left over night.
  25. Hi guys, This is my first topic in this community and I understand that maybe this isn't best forums to start with saying such a thing ,but I would like to start this thread with beeing sincere and saying that I'm newcomer to United Kingdom and that I'm originally from Latvia ,but still I'm Audi enthusiast and I hope for your help. :) So, the thing is that for a long time my dream was to purchase Audi A4 B5 facelift saloon model. It's quite common car in my country and there's plenty of them for sale ,so there's no problem with repairing if they break. And so now I'm planning in near future to buy this car in U.K. ,but theres things that bothers me - there's not very much exectly this model of Audi for sale here so I'm not sure if it wouldn't cost me a fortune to repair it if it breaks. Would you recommend me to buy this car for daily use in this country? Also what could be the common problems with exectly this model worth checking before buying? Sorry for bad English grammar. Hope for your help! :)
