  1. Hi guys, New to this forum. Just wanted to do a quick intro and hopefully get talking/meet other audi enthusiasts. I'm the owner of an A5 3.0tdi in Daytona grey with a few subtle mods. Looking to meet up with like minded audi fans in northern Ireland.
  2. Before I start, I have an A5 Black edition 1.8 TFSI Multi-tronic FWD 2015 and before this I had the same but the S-line version 2012 so my experience comes from both these cars having the same problem. However I have read across different forums of other A5 specs with the same problem. Problem 1 being excessive wheel spin/jump whenever accelerating and I'm not talking Fast & Furious accelerating, I'm talking pulling into a roundabout, leaving a set of lights, exiting a junction and basically most normal driving scenarios that require a little pull to get going. Spoke to the Audi garage about it and they said that the torque for the 1.8 is too much for the type of car or some BS so it's "Normal" Problem 2 is either reversing or going forwards in full lock the car makes a horrible clunking sound as if the wheel is catching on the trim or jerking about the place, not a nice sound on your £40k car though! Dealer again said this is "Normal" for A5's The solution, amazingly was the tyres.... I bought both my cars brand spanking new on order so they came with tyres fitted at the factory "Pirelli's" 255/35 R19 96Y. All four tyres needed replacing so I opted for a good British tyre that was actually cheaper than the big names "Avon ZZ5" with the exact same tyre specs... problem solved! Absolutely no clunking (I've tested it a LOT) and wheel spin...whats that?? I can now actually experience a bit of the power the car has to offer when accelerating without skidding all over the place and looking like a tool! I dont know what kind of deal Audi has with Pirelli and I'm no expert but its as f the tyres are wrong type for the car?? Either that or "Avon" tyres are far superior, hopefully someone with a bit of knowledge will be able to clarify this. So there you go, having this problem... change the tyres!!! Preferably to "Avon"!!
  3. Hi all, I am looking to buy a Audi A5 2.0 tfsi soon. However I am aware of the oil consumption issues with these engines. My question is, what percentage are actually effected? Will I have a good chance of getting one that hasn’t got the oil issues? Or should I just walk away from it? the car has full service history, but has been recently done by a garage for the past few years and not Audi themselves. If it needs a rebuilt engine will Audi not pay out due to the service history? i am just looking peoples experiences with these engines to get an idea and if you had a rebuild can you please tell me what you had to provide them with? if they had the rebuild done will it be covered by Audi?
  4. Hi All, Wondering if anyone has purchased the Audi Music Interface, I want to play videos the monitor but tried on SD card and not had any luck in various formats. A few youtube videos have mentioned the Audi Music Interface cable. Has anyone tried? Or know anyone that's got the cable? Thanks Hass
  5. I'd like to come up with a neat and tidy solution for my MMI (3G HDD, joystick, jukebox etc) to iPhone 7 (lightning). There are three major points: It has to be able to transmit audio - currently, onboard Bluetooth will not so I can't get Spotify/iTunes or Google Maps (Audi Nav isn't up to scratch with current traffic info) I need to be able to see maps, so the phone can't just be plugged into AMI and be kept in the glovebox - separate cradle needed - Ideally around the passenger air vent area, see pic. It needs to be chargeable when mounted. Maybe the simplest solution is AMI>lightening but with some sort of extension to then go into a cradle? I looked into Qi but then that means a permanent charging case and still no mount/audio option. I currently have a Bluetooth to FM transmitter from my old car but signal is patchy, no charging option and still no mounting option. Please help, my head is spinning! I'd love to see what others have done and if there's a solution I can commandeer!
  6. Hello there, I have a lovely A5 cabriolet, 2.0 diesel, special edition, it has sat nav, it has two empty SD card slots, its a 2013 plate, the installed sat nav maps are now showing their age. Without spending the earth how do I up date the maps, does anyone know please? regards Les
  7. Hi, everyone! XEONZ doesn't sell A5 grills with a badge anymore, so I'm looking for a holder of some sort that I could fit onto my grill... I would really love to have my rings back! Maybe someone is going badge less and won't need that holder? Let me know! Thanks
  8. Purchased this 2 years ago, I have been and am still ridiculously happy with this car.
  9. So tonight the airbag warning light came on and checked around and saw this wire has perished I've taped it up now but does anyone know what the wire is for and if it would make the warning light come on?
  10. Hi guys,I have an A5 2.0TDI Quattro 190PS Black Edition Plus, November 2015. I bought it second hand from Audi with 8000 miles on the clock in January 2017. It is killing me on fuel!! I am getting around 200-240 miles per tank (60 litre tank) and no I do not floor it constantly. At it’s first service which was around 3 weeks ago I told Audi about my fuel efficiency. They did a diagnostics check and checked for any leaks and said it was all fine! They put it down to cold weather (even though the mpg has been awful for the whole year!), my driving and stop start traffic driving conditions. I got a remap put on the car last week in an attempt to help the fuel efficiency but it’s literally the same and hasn’t helped. This is not right, has anyone experienced anything like this? If anyone could point me in the right direction I’d be very grateful! Thanks in advance.

  12. The parcel shelf clip/peg on my 2012 A5 has unfortunately snapped off. Does anyone know where I can pick another one up? There seem to be some on Ebay but they're kits which seem a bit overpriced, is this the only way of obtaining one? Can I use another model's clip? On Ebay the Q7 clips seem cheaper but probably they're no use to me. Any info is much appreciated.
  13. Hey guys, i just wanted to say that if you ever wanted to get your Car wrapped or customise is in any way then do it at Prestige wrap, those guys are the best, i gave them my Audi A5 couple of weeks ago to do, full wrap, Alloy referb, break calipers and detailing, i have to say the car turned out amazing, they took care of every little detail, their finish is just spot on, i knew the final outcome will be great but this is more than awesome, i couldn't be happier. thanks to Prestige Wrap & Custom.
  14. Hi Has anyone managed to set your indicators to 'sweeping' mode? If so, how?
  15. Hi all, Apologies if this is a silly question but I've just bought a 2011 A5 S-Line 3.0TDi Quattro and was wondering about the rear badge. It just shows TDi above the quattro badge and doesn't show the 3.0. Is this meant to be like this or are all of the 3.0 badges getting stolen? I've looked at a lot of others online and they all seem to be the same. Can anyone shed light on this please. Cheers.

    A5 Newbie

Morning all! Just joined the forum today. I bought my 2016 model A5 S-line Cabrio in November and I must say that so far I am 95% delighted with it. It was an ex-demo model, so I didn't spec it myself. Only ONE gripe - no glovebox light! What is this all about? All my other vehicles have had glovebox lights as standard, but on my A5 its a 'different lighting pack' apparently. Other than that it's fully loaded - unbelievable! My A5 is still in warranty but this is not covered and I have been advised that it would be expensive to get retro-fitted. I am also uneasy about getting any work done outside Audi in case I invalidate my warranty. Does anyone have any advice? (Yes, I have placed a torch in the vehicle!!!)
  17. Evening everyone I'm new to the forum and quite new to Audi ownership. Picked up my ex-demo 2016 A5 2.0 TDCI Black Edition late September and now I've finally (mostly!) figured out how it all works it's really starting to feel like it's mine. Previously I was an Alfa driver but the A5 is up there with my old GT as a proper drivers car i have a quick question you may be able to help me with. Just bought an SD card to load music onto and put a couple of albums on it to check it. Unfortunately the MMI is saying the card is unreadable (the same for slot 1 and 2). As the card is brand new I'm pretty sure the card isn't faulty. Any ideas?
  18. In case someone else is struggling with removing the A5 tail light. It's a pain in the a**
  19. Hi All Just purchased a 2010 A5 Cabriolet Quattro 2.0 TSFI with 57k on the clock and i've noticed if I rock the steering wheel back and forth there is quite a substantial knocking sound coming from the steering. Sounds like there is some play in the steering rack and it's knocking around however this is only 5 years old and done 57k so not what I would expect to hear. There is no play in the steering and the car drives fine. It mostly noticeable while stopped although I can still hear it when moving it's just masked by more engine/road noise. Any advice would be great. Thanks George
  20. Hi all I am interested in changing my current wheels for a set of the Y spokes or Rotors. I was hoping someone may be able to advise me of the value of my current wheels and where I might be best off selling them? They are 19" 20 spoke BBS split rims. I have just had them refurbished (at great expense) so they are in immaculate condition. Many thanks James
  21. Looking for some advice please, I have two questions below about my A5 and oil consumption. I know this is an old and repeated problem for the 2.0T, so I'm not looking to confirm that the engine is an oil guzzler / the old piston ring problem. Background (sorry it's a bit long): it's a 58 plate 2.0T petrol model, (FASH, and 67k miles). I bought privately and it has no warranty. It's burning too much oil, much more than 0.5l per 600 miles (1000km) specified in the handbook. So far an independent specialist garage has changed what they called the oil separator for £150 as he said it was being mixed in and burnt off. Straight after the repair it was showing max oil on the MMI, and held that position for 200 miles. It's now suddenly halfway between min and max on the MMI, which I understand represents not total engine oil (4.7l), but the top most litre in the engine meaning it has burnt 0.5l in 200 miles. I also bought a manual dipstick to check and confirmed. Questions are: 1) Have people experienced such a drop in engine oil after a repair in around 200-300 miles? I saw on another forum that after such a repair it can need a little oil to work into the engine, to compensate for the fact it was previously just being burned off. 2) If my piston rings are knackered (as I fear), what are my chances of pushing audi uk to support with the cost of the £4-5k bill, on the basis this is clearly a manufacturer problem, and not general wear and tear. Thanks

  23. Hi all, Just signed up to the forum having read a few posts for a while, so.. hello :) Anyway, i've done my research into my next car, and my mind is made up, i'm getting an A5. I've got a budget of around 16k or so, and i'm looking at either the 2.7 or 3.0. To now i've only drove the 2.7 and enjoyed the drive, but having read a few posts it seems I should go for the 3.0 quattro instead? Also with my budget, I can get an s-line model with relatively reasonable miles on it, are they really worth putting more into it? As oppose to a fully loaded sport model with sat nav/heated seats etc? Thanks, and look forward to seeing you guys around.
