  1. Hi Everyone, I'm a new boy on the block with a 3.2 V6 Audi A3, Manual. I'm confused by the quoted power outputs of my engine: Audi quotes 250PS (247BHP) but my handbook (Manufacturer's) states : chassis, engine, body, trim, Gbox and a PS of 279!!!? Aside from putting it on a rolling road, has anyone heard of a 3.2 279PS Audi A3? it sounds like the Golf variant output but did they put that engine in the A3 and what's the difference mechanically in the engine? Cheers Graham
  2. Hello all, New to this forum and signed up as i have been browsing through quite a bit recently. Basically, i am a Vectra owner and am now looking at buy an Audi.... a very specific one... and wondered if anybody has experience of ownership of one and if they are troublesome or not? The one i want to buy is the 2006 A4 2.0 TFSI SLine Quattro 'Special Edition'. I have read that the special edition has 20bhp increase over the 'regular' one. i.e 217 over 197. So my question is: is the 20bhp increase via a bigger turbo or more? and is the result lots more lag in the special edition over the others? Ultimately i am trying to work our if it is worth spending more on the special edition over the 'standard' edition?!? Does anybody in this forum own this model who is willing to share their ownership experience? Also, i want the Quattro drivetrain purely for the winter days. I will be looking at a second hand car with around 80k miles. I know all the usual checks for cars but not any specific common faults on this model of audi so can anyone else point me to any potential danger areas with these cars? Thanks
  3. Hello everyone, My name is Colin and I have become an Audi owner for the first time. The car, which I have owned for (as I type this) about 22 hours has already been borrowed by my wife and taken to work, leaving me at home still trying to understand the MMI manual (Novel). I know very little about the vehicle and its electronics and it will be like all of my other cars, a steep learning curve. I discovered that there isn't a Haynes manual for it so I went to emanualsonline (dot com) and downloaded one. My German is rusty but it will comeback to me when I start reading it. There should be a picture of the car attached somewhere on here. It is a 2006 A6 Avant 2.7 TDI S Line Quattro and was a dealer demonstrator before going to its first owner for the last 10 years. I do have a selection of questions that I would like to ask about the car but I will reserve them for the correct sections of the forum Kind regards Colin
  4. I have a 2006 TT special edition convertible number 1 of 99 in great condition with 20,000 miles. I am looking for some advice on a price to sell it. Thanks.
  5. Hi folks, Please excuse this as a first-time post but I'm hoping someone with a D2 Audi A8 (ie 1994-2002 model) in 4.2 Quattro form (ideally a Sport) would like to bring it for a day out at Blyton Park circuit in Lincolnshire to have its photo taken for a car magazine. It's for a very big article, a group of six cars in total, and it will also form the cover shoot for that issue. The date is Monday October 17th, just over a month away. We'd need you there from about 9.45am to 4.30pm and we'll cover fuel expenses, provide snacks, coffee and lunch, though it may just be a bag of sandwiches! Please feel free to pass this on to anyone you know who might be able to help: get me by emailing nigel.boothman@btinternet.com. Many thanks! Nigel
  6. Just ordered my 2016 (66 plate) A3 Saloon S Line S Tronic 2.0 TFSI Quattro (190PS) - I've gone for Daytona Grey, added Technology Pack, S Sport Suspension, Nappa Leather (in Rotor Grey), Heated Seats, Advanced Key, Hill Hold Assist, Parking System Plus and Auto-Dimming Rear View Mirror. I'd have liked to go to town on the options list, but the above gets me a better specced car than my current A4 without it costing me the earth. Obviously as my build hasn't reached the "confirmed" state with the factory order yet I'm still able to make adjustments/additions/removals from the spec above. Am I missing anything blindingly obvious that I "should" have?
  7. https://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/audi-a3-32-sport-quattro-s-line-3dr-black-very-low-mileage/1182194064 55k miles, full service history, 3 owners, immaculate condition
  8. Hey guys, this is my first post here so bear with me! So in a bid to get a bit more mechanical knowledge I've decided to (try to) rebuild an engine. The 1.8T found in the S3/A3 8L to be exact! So my end goal is to clean out, strip and rebuild the engine but I also want it to be improved. I was thinking of the future and I would like to fit it into an A3 Quattro to make a sort of road legal race car! So I was thinking of rebuilding the engine with forged internals, getting a better turbo and generally just making it better from the basics. Money isn't really an object as I want to do it as a project when I get chance which will usually be on weekends. Now for the bad news: My mechanical skills go about as far as servicing the car and fitting aftermarket parts such as exhausts, filters, etc. Although I know how an internal combustion engine works, I have no idea what a lot of people mean when they are on about honed boring and all that stuff. I have no clue if it improves the engine or what. So I guess overall I have three questions: Where could I start? Is there a book someone can recommend. List what tools I'll need and generally how difficult it will be. Is it worth putting it in an A3 since it will be completely rebuilt or is it worth getting an S3 to put it in? I'm not 100% sure of the differences in terms of suspension and brakes between the two! Generally I don't care about that stuff since it will all be more than likely replaced anyway as I build the car up afterwards. Is there another engine you recommend to put into the A3 instead? I was only thinking the 1.8T since it's built for the car and it would be easier for me being a beginner! Any help will be greatly appreciated and I look forward to becoming an active member of the forum and getting to know you all! Josh
  9. PowerFlow Sports Exhaust, Mid/Rear, taken from a Audi A3 3.2 v6 Quattro Sport - 8p. Really good condition. As I understand it, it will also fit a TFSI or Golf. Removed from the car by Powerflow Garage. Free Delivery £250
  10. Hi everyone, first ever post on this site. I bought a 2004 A3 quattro sport 3.2 v6 a month ago. It came with a powerflow exaust which sounds awesome on hard acceleration but between 2 and 3k revs produces god awful droning in the cabin which ive decided I cant live with. The local powerflow garage has said there isnt enough space underneath for anti-resonance pipe-work and suggested that I replace the mid box with an original. Anyone got any experience of this? Can anyone recomend who where to get an original mid section exhaiust for athe v6? Thanks in advance
  11. Hello all, I currently own an A6 Avant, 3.0 TFSI engine, Quattro drivetrain with S-Tronic auto gearbox, S-Line trim with Technology Pack and Comfort Pack. Full S/H - just serviced and MOT'd two weeks ago @ 36,000 miles. The full advert is on autotrader at present…http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201603011527490 I won’t bore you with all the intricate details as you guys know more about Audi’s than most, but this car is the top of range A6 avant model, the 3.0 V6 supercharged engine delivers 300PS, and 0-62mph in 5.3 seconds, it has sport mode and launch control which create truly astonishing acceleration for a car of this size. Paddle gear shift on steering wheel for semi-auto mode, making this car seriously fun and exciting to drive. Sports suspension. Full valcona leather trim inside, heated seats, heated multi-function 3 spoke steering wheel with voice activation for sat nav and phone etc. Tech pack – MMI High, with MMI Touch - touch sensitive pad beside gear selector, letters/numbers can be 'drawn' with finger. Larger sized full colour LED monitor with DVD player in the front, Audi Connect to access internet searches for news, weather, parking searches etc, and google maps overlay for the sat nav. Full colour dash display behind steering wheel for sat nav, speedo, and all the usual. DAB Radio. HDD for Audi ‘Jukebox’, music can be saved directly to hard drive in car. Advanced parking system - Front forward and both front corner cameras, and rear backward and both rear corner cameras, automatically activated when parking system is engaged (when car is in reverse or button pressed on dash) and shown on LED display. Comfort pack – full electronically adjustable front seats, heated. Drivers seat has memory function, can be set with preset buttons on drivers door, or programmed to the two individual Advance Keys, wing mirror positions can also be saved. Sports seats, very comfortable. Tailgate electrically operated, opened and closed from inside car, or with button on Advance Key, or button on tailgate. Audi first aid kit in rear armrest, with ‘ski hatch’. Full Xenon Plus headlight system. Rear LED lights. It is a beautiful car, and very hard to get hold of with the TFSI petrol engine, but it blows the socks off any other engines on offer, apart from the V8 S and RS models of course. Engine can be tuned by Revo or other reputable company – Revo worked extensively with this very engine model and have built their software around it – only reason I didn’t get it done is that when I took it to VAS in Guildford last year it turned out that Audi had upgraded the onboard software before I picked it up, and Revo hadn’t had a chance to map the upgrade yet, so missed out. Only selling as getting an Audi company car through work, and can’t justify keeping hold of it, plus there isn’t room on the drive! Had some interest through Autotrader, but wanted to open it up to serious Audi lovers who will actually appreciate the car for what it is. Priced to sell - £25,000. Thanks! Andy
  12. Hi All I'm selling the family car, which will be available from 4th March. The car has been amazing, the best I've had, but other projects mean it has got to go. I've been amazed how cheap it is to run for the size, broadly similar to a Saab 9-3 TTid I had before, and 5 years after they came out it still gets attention for its looks. See below for details, I will add more photos when I get back to the UK next week, but thought I would put up what I have now to gauge interest. Audi A7 S Line Quattro, metallic silver, 3.0 lt diesel with 204 hp with the S Tronic gearbox. 5 seat version, 61 plate (Jan 2012) 57443 miles and full Audi service history (including 40k gearbox il change) , 2 owners and will have a full MOT with full price. I have a transferable Audi warranty until June, and the car is on a service plan so the next is free. Two new tyres fitted, there others are still good, and a set of 4 snow tyres on steel rims is included also (see photo), only a few k on them, lots of tread left. Lots of time spent bombing around the Alps in 6" of snow, never got stuck, snow chains never been used! PM for more info or any questions, happy viewing!
  13. Gutted to be selling my Audi A6 Quattro 2.5 ltd TDI 6 speed. The car has approx 215,000 miles on the clock and the engine was replaced about 70,000 miles ago. This vehicle is a non-runner as the head gasket has gone. As far as can be told there is no engine damage and this would be an easy project for a hobbies / enthusiast. It had a new radiator and water pump in March last year. Chassis is in good condition as is the body work for it's age. Various scuffs (light level scratches) and a couple of tiny dents dotted around. Sold as seen (minus the bike rack). Prior to the head gasket going it was a great car to drive, powerful and well balanced and sadly got my first speeding ticket in so there is considerable sentimental value! Engine cover is available, it just wasn't on the engine when I took the photos. Also please note the bike rack on the back doesn't come with the car :) Vehicle registration is P51 LYA - I've just taken my cherished plate off it hence the lack of plates on the car. If you're interested give me a shout with questions / offers. Many Thanks Andy 07827 434343
  14. Any body tell me if there is a pre-heater on board the A3 (2015) model that heats the cabin, aids the demist of front screen? Outside air temp is below freezing and window is already demisting / de icing after a min or two (cabin is feeling warm) Cheers
  15. Just bought a well loaded pre-registered 2015 A4 Allroad 2 litre TDI Quattro with the manual gearbox and well impressed. Looking forward to reading relevant threads and seeking help and advice about the car in due course. I will be looking to fit a detachable tower and electrics in due course.
  16. Hi Ladies & Gents. I have an Audi A6 for sale. It's a non-runner - Head Gasket. The gasket went on the driveway so no engine use since gasket went. It had just had new radiator and water pump. Chassis is in good condition for it's age. Would be ideal for someone who wants to buy a classic and tinker with it. If you're interested please drop me a message. I have one photo uploaded which is just there until I get some more over the next few days.
  17. Fantastic Audi Allroad Quattro TDI 2.5l 53 plate estate with leather interior. Got lots of mod cons including heated seats. More details on request. In perfect condition inside and out but got issues with turbo boosting. It is slipping gears and currently off road. Would be great to repair it but cannot afford it and have no mechanical skills. Sat on the driveway with a SORN and no insurance so could really do with selling this soon. Would be great for anyone with the skills to repair the turbo boost or for someone wanting spare parts to repair another car. Reasonable offers considered.
  18. Hi Im new here. I have a very nice A4 DTM quattro, BUT - the engine is missing (long story) Im looking for reliable info- on what to do , where to get a new engine (gearbox is still there) preferably someone who is local to Basingstoke area who can source and engine and fit. any info , recommendations welcome . Many thanks Matt
  19. I just wanted to say hi to everyone here :) . I’ve just upgraded my “commute car” which was this: With it’s 1.34l engine and mahooosive 99bhp, I felt like an old man pottering to and from work. The biggest problem with it, though, was the torsion beam rear axle which provide the single most uninspired drive I have ever had the pleasure of falling asleep to (and I should know, being an anaesthetist). So in the search for a slightly more ...erm... spirited drive combined with wanting AWD for when it snows or rains, I went looking for a suitable upgrade. As my sister owns A4's and I am impressed with them, I was looking at S3's, Quattro's, Golf R's and similar, all of which are quick but not too fast coupled with solid build quality and a premium feel. So in the end I settled on this: It's a Audi 2.0 TFSI Quattro Black Edition. Additions over my old Jazz are full leather interior, satnav, (opening) sunroof, Xenons, 4WD. On the downside, it's DSG so I'm not sure how i'll cope without a good ol' manual gearshift, but the flappy paddles might be a good middle ground. It also has the Bose speaker upgrade in which apparently (correct me if I'm wrong) only the sub is a bit crap (so I will take the active Alpine 8" DVC out of the Jazz and put it into this one). Apart from that, I don't think the spec requires any additions from me. Being Used Approved means I get the 1 year Warranty and they’ll fix all the minor niggles prior to me collecting it (hopefully next weekend) which include: Bonnet slightly misaligned (no previous accidents but it needs to be adjusted by them as the panel gap on the drivers side is twice as big as the passenger side) Both rear tyres bald - they'll be replaced BIG paint chip passenger lower sill to be made good drivers fog grill enclosure loose/broken - will be replaced rear window scratched where is looks like the rear wiper was used without a blade being in it - doh! The scratch is where the metal mount point on the wiper arm is. If they can't polish it out they said they'll replace the rear window. apparently an ipod cable is included (I couldn't find it in the cabin) They'll give me 1 years tax disc as well :) I think I also get Audi insurance for 7 days for free (gives to time to arrange Direct Line to switch my policy from my old Jazz). Any downsides to this? (hopefully there won't be any hidden charges). Also be prepared to answer other weird and wonderful questions in the upcoming months as I get used to owning my first ( ;)) Audi.....
  20. checked re gassing, put pressure Guage on started engine ect put on low temp but guage is reading 55psi so no gas required according to chart so there is another fault can anyone help,
  21. hey all. i've owned the car for about a year and do enjoy it immensely, although i am sometimes frustrated by a lack of power, but this should change with a remap coming soon (see below). I love the build quality of the audi, my ex had a bmw and i thought that was a well made car until i bought this! despite my gripes at the lack of power (mainly brought on by owning faster cars and my mates having scoobies) the car is quick, i always like to remind my mates that from A to B, especially around where I live in the Scottish Borders it's just as quick as their jap beasts, and immensely more comfortable! The main reason I went 2 grand over my budget and bought this car was that it was a quattro and I love how planted the car feels in both the dry and wet! that being said the body roll at speed can be too much sometimes. The only negative I can say with the quattro is the real-life MPG figures aren't impressive. I do have a heavy right foot from time to time but on a 6 month average of everyday driving (social and domestic use only Mr Insurance) i returned 33.3 MPG. The car currently is running on Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tyres, and is completely standard with no notable factory optional extras fitted. Anyway that's enough of boring things like fuel economy. I have attached all the photos I've managed to take in a year of ownership (pretty pathetic amount tbh). I don't have the private plate on the car anymore that is my exes. What I want to do: This is where you guys come in. I have a pretty good idea of what I want to do to the car, but the application of the idea is where I ain't so great! Below is a list of "mods" (hate that word I feel like 17yr old boyracer even typing it!) I want to do to the car - any additions, subtractions or general comments would be much appreciated on them!! Alloy refurb and colour change to either graphite or shadow chrome Lowered on coilovers [not sure as to 40 or 60 drop and reputable brands, any ideas????] I've read about RS4 anti roll bars being a good upgrade - any ideas? Uprated brakes - i've done no research on this any ideas? R8 style LED headlights LED rear lights LED fog light cluster Exhaust system [again any ideas here guys and gals????] Performance Air filter [brands etc???] Remap (hoping for 205-215bhp) Button Start (this is mainly cos i have a blank button missing next to the TCS button and thought it would be more interesting that putting a blank in) Blue tint interior light replacement Auto-folding wing mirrors Cruise Control Double din head unit with reversing camera [brands?] I don't for one minute think I am going to get all of these done as my time isn't always free and my pockets aren't bottomless, but in an ideal world this is what I would have.
  22. Hi guys! I have a 54 plate A3 Quattro 2.0T and I've had it for a few months now. At crawling speeds it makes a clearly audible thud when moving off, and feels the same as when your handbrake might stick (Its not the brakes as i've checked those .This wasnt much of a problem until it began to get worse (more knocking noises). I suspect that its a loose driveshaft connection and is just taking up the torque. A month or so after i bought it it developed a misfire so took it back to the dealer who fixed it under warranty. the procedure for removing the head somehow involved removing most of the 4WD system and gearbox etc and a week after i got it back it developed the above noise, and so naturally i suspec that that may have been the cause. My question to you lot is whether any of you have experienced such a noise, and what did you do to fix it? Many thanks!

  24. Hi all I am new to the Audi forum, I own a 2001 A3 and am looking to upgrade to a newer A4 and was just after some buying tips such as models/specs etc. I have a budget of about £5k and would prefer diesel and the 170bhp models other than that I am open to advice?!
  25. Wondering if anyone can help. I have a 2003 A4 1.9 TDI SPORT QUATTRO (GMBH) and the instrument cluster is not working.
