  1. Hey guys, It's time for a new car! I had an S3 a couple of years back but unfortunately due to a change in circumstance it had to go... But I've landed myself a new job and I'm looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of an Audi again I've decided on the A3 sportback 2.0 TDI 150 Black Edition, with the Tech pack and the Comfort pack. I just can't decide on colour! Brilliant Black or is the Mythos worth the extra £550? Any thoughts or recommendations about my choices are welcomed Any other black editions on the forum?   3. Hi guys, I'm trying to source a starter motor for my A3 Sportback BKD 2.0tdi 140bhp 2006. Having taken my current one off to count its teeth and check its model, I can confirm it has an 11 tooth count and is Valeo branded. Please see attached photos for evidence of current starter. Eurocarparts suggest that there are 4 different brands and two different fitment types for this vehicle. Unfortunately, none of these match what I currently have. The following starters are available on eurocarparts: Fitment 1 RTX: 10 teeth ,1,7 KW Hella: 10 teeth ,1,7 KW Bosch: 10 teeth ,1,7 KW Fitment 2 RTX: 12 teeth, 2 KW Lucas: 12 teeth, 2 KW All models offered have the same flange & lengths in mm. Could anyone shed any light on which to buy? I'm limited to buying a factory refurbished one rather than from a breakers. Cheers.
  4. Hi Guys, New to this forum so please go easy on me :) I have read through posts with similar issues to what I am having and wondered if anyone can throw some light on it please? I have a A4 S - line Convertible 2007 2.0TDI which will not start when the car is hot, I will explain what I have done so far!! So in the morning the car starts fine, it drives perfect all the time and I get a good 50-60mpg no issues at all, about a month ago I parked up and went to move the car after an hour but it wouldn't start, engine turns over fine but no fire, so I had it towed home and in the morning I tried it again with a nearly flat battery and it started. Forward on a month and its now getting worse, I have read tons about this so changed the coolant sensor and fitted a new battery as the old one was a Moll from 2007 but its still doing it, if you start it and turn it off then straight back on it fires instantly but randomly it will not start if I go get fuel, shopping etc. Its been into a Audi specialist who cannot find a fault and it has been scanned many times and no codes are showing, I have no CEL either. Now if I leave the car for approx. 2 hours it will start, sometimes a bit longer than normal to start but it will go. I have seen issues with the starter motor but the garage says its not that as it turns over fine around 400 rpm iirc, they checked the Crank and Cam sensors and they work ok but I have seen on the net that A4's have a issue where the starter motor has some sort of heat sink issue, the Audi place wants it to go to a Derv Fuel specialist to check injectors etc. but I am reluctant as the car is perfect apart from the starting issue and they think its fuel related, they checked the fuel pump too and that purrs away nicely when you turn on the ignition. I have tried starting the car with the coolant sensor disconnected and it still will not start when warm. Any ideas? Sorry for the novel of a post haha
  5. Hello all I have a Audi A6 3.0TDI S Line Le Mans So far I have Upgraded - The exhaust to quad exits like the S6 and it sounds incredible. Had to buy a rear diffuser off a S6 to accommodate them. Proffesional Re Map and that made so much difference in top end acceleration and throttle response. Replaced the grill with a New RS6 grill all in glossy black including the badge. Rear window tints in limo on top of factory tints so it's completely black from the outside, looks superb. Front and back lights slightly tinted but not to much as I don't like them too black as you need them to see and reflect. All the interior lights replaced with white led which really improves the look inside much more modern. 4x Uniroyal Rainsport 3's because in my mind it's mostly raining here in England and they really are good in the wet. Wind deflectors on all windows and now I'm thinking of brakes. It doesn't stop quick enough at the moment because it's got cheap pads on. What pads are people using and if I get ceramic ones will the brake system fry under a lot of hard braking. I am going back to the Nurburgring soon and I don't want them to fade to much as they do now. Do people have vented discs and are they good? Is there much difference? Has anyone done a full upgrade all round or found a big brake kit for the C6? Thanks in advance. I have already been to the Nurburgring in this car and a few others and fried the brakes every time and had to take breaks between laps. I can't wait to go back and do it again though.lkj
  6. Hello all Me Birt Ram and Claire jumped in my Audi A6 3.0TDI S Line Le Mans and headed for Barcelona via Amsterdam. We stayed in Germany for most of the journey rather than France for obvious reasons and we got there in no time. Even when we did have to go through France we averaged 120mph through the night. After a few days in Barcelona me and Birt decided to venture on. We headed for Monaco and both had a go driving through the tunnel so we could say when we watch the F1 that we had done it. It's the small things haha. Then decided we wanted to visit a water park Jesolo which is in Italy. So off we went and through the night again it was superb. We ended up in a race with two identical Abarth 500's which you just couldn't make up, it was amazing, we played with them for a while then !Removed! off using the mighty power from the V6. After visiting the water park we decided that we might as well go to Venice, on the way into Venice you go over a bride covered in speed cameras. Being in a UK registered car I made every single camera flash, that was fun. In Venice we had a wander round got a pizza and then decided it was time so we headed to our favourite place - THE NURBURGRING. On the way there we passed through Austria, we have driven through Austria before and loved it so we were very happy to do it again. It didn't let us down. Superb roads and incredible views. Birt got stopped by the police for speeding and tailgating though. €35 Euro each resulting in a €75 on the spot fine and no points or anything like that. Not to bad. Parked up for the evening in a lay by off a German autobahn I was putting my private reg on as I had just had a phone call to say the new V5 had come in the post at home and a man grabs me. Turns out to be undercover armed police accusing us of stealing the car. After a long time we managed to sort it out even without the V5 and at that point the police had given up. They didn't understand anything about private reg's so by the end they basically just let us drive off and trusted us that we had put the correct reg on. Once at the Nurburgring we did a few laps each with some time in between to let the brakes cool down and had no drama whatsoever so all good. Always worth visiting if you haven't been. After that we decided to stop off in Amsterdam for another night on the way home to relax. Best idea ever. Home safe Month or so later recieve a 100mph speeding ticket from the M25 after doing 155mph legally in Germany. Oh !Removed!
  7. Hi all, My name is Hasan and I have just purchased my first ever Audi. Always been a 'Golf' man but here we are. As the title explains its an Audi A3 1.6 TDI Sport (8P). Its a 3 door 2010 model finished off in Metallic Silver with only 59k on the clock. Full Audi Service History and came complete with a full years MOT - no advisories and 1 year warranty. Happy days! Wanted to introduce myself as I'm sure you will all be seeing me on here a lot over the next few months. Will get some pictures posted once I've finished work. Also if anyone has a 3 door 8P preferably around 2009/10 model, feel free to share any pics.
  8. Hi all, I have a brand new turbo for sale. I bought it initially for my A6 and when I fitted it, I realized that something else was wrong on the car making it not worth fixing it anymore. This turbo ran for litterally 3 minutes. It is a brand new Garett for 1.9l TDI engine (BRE models). Don't hesitate to contact me for more information.
  9. Hi my dads just bought a 2001 a6 estate 1.9tdi and the turbo keeps cutting out . If you switch the ignition off then on again it kicks back in , it seems to do it as you hit a slight incline. Its not putting a engine fault light up so we are abut stuck , anybody had this problem ??? Cheers

I'm after a proper induction kit for the 3.0 TDI quattro, either a full kit by a performance manufacturer or if someone has done a homemade job with some silicone pipe, filter and jubilee clips etc, I'd love to hear from you and how you did it. Or if you found that one for the 3.0, 3.2 or 4.2 petrols worked just as well. A search online has revealed nothing for me sadly, no support for the diesels, only some petrols. I know diesels don't rely on air as much as the petrols, maybe this is why I'm struggling to find one that fits. If nothing comes of this and no one can help, I'm tempted to have a go at making one myself and will post some 'how to' pics below. Thanks in advance! Josh
  11. Hi Guys, First of all, I'm new here and completely blue to audi's, so go easy on me. I just have a few questions before finalising my decision on a purchase of an Audi A3 or A4. Coming from the golf, I knew everything about the cars, which engines to go for, what to look out for when purchasing and how much roughly a clean model is really worth. However being completely new to Audi's, always wanting one and being in a position to purchase one, I am looking to get some questions answered. I have looked through this forum, looked for buyers guides or pointers and couldnt find anything to answer my questions. So, first of all, how much are these cars really worth? I know this is subjective, however lets say a clean example, with fsh and not a crap ton of miles, how much am I looking to pay? I have a budget from 3,5 to 5,5k, and I am looking for a clean example, preferably 06 onward however an 08 would be the perfect spot. I'd like a diesel, fuel economy is important for me. I have already read into this whole 1.9 vs 2.0 tdi's and whats wrong with the 2.0 and how its not as reliable, however after gathering all that information i am still leaning towards the 2.0 tdi 140. What should I be looking for? What big parts need replacing after certain miles? I heard the turbo needs replacing around 150k miles, so I thought to look either for a low mileage example or one that already has the big jobs done. Any problematic parts on these cars that like to go, certain sound I should be looking for? I'd like to finally buy a car that will drive me for the next few years without headaches and constant worry and taking it to the garage all the time. Difference between the 8P and the B7? I like the size of the A4 B7, and i always loved something about an estate, avant in terms of audi talk (still confusing). It might seem like a family car but I love it haha, is there certain engine codes i should avoid or look to buy? I understand that the A4 and A3 is very similar platform running the same engines? I just have all these questions in my mind, hopefully this is in the right place and im not causing chaos. Thanks in Advance, Mac. :)

I have a 2003 Audi A3 2.0TDI which has just been diagnosed as having a cracked piston head I have been told that to purchase a brand new part it will cost around £1000 for the part and then there's the labour to add on top. I have also been told from a different mechanic that I might be as well to purchase another engine and get that fitted instead of replacing the part itself. What would you guys suggest I do? Another question I have got is would I have to get the exact same 140bhp engine as the one that is has now? I have seen on eBay a few 2.0TDI A3 engines that are producing around 180bhp standard, obviously my car only has a 140bhp turbo (this is a fairly new turbo, only been fitted around 2 months) so would this not work? I am aware that I can pull this engine out of SEAT's and VW's etc so another option I have would be to purchase a spares and repairs car that has the engine I need which runs fine but has been smashed up at the back and take that engine? I really don't want and don't have the cash to buy another car so would like to be able to get this one back on the road as cheaply as possible whilst at the same time not cutting any corners... Any help and recommendations would be appreciated!
  14. Taking the opportunity to upgrade my 2007 A3 Sportback rear bumper after some idiot drove into it! Looking for the following >> Type: A3 Facelift 09-12 Rear Sportback Bumper Colour: Black (in good used condition which won't require any work or a respray) Diffuser: Twin exhaust S-line mesh style (like the attached picture) The bumpers come up regularly on Ebay but the diffuser is the hard bit to get hold of! If anyone has the diffuser to sell separately I'd also be interested (I've read that the 3dr, 5dr & cabriolet diffusers are the same fitment so will fit a Sportback bumper)
  15. Hi All, Just a quick introduction, my name is Dodge from a small village in West Sussex. I recently purchased a white 2011 A5 TFSI but after a few oil issues I made the decision to trade it for a highly specced out gloss black 2010 A7 3.0 TDI SE - best decision ever! I'll be frequenting this bountiful fountain of knowledge a lot, as I now have a rekindled passion for cars. Out of curiosity are there any other A7 owners from Sussex on here? thanks Dodge
  16. Gutted to be selling my Audi A6 Quattro 2.5 ltd TDI 6 speed. The car has approx 215,000 miles on the clock and the engine was replaced about 70,000 miles ago. This vehicle is a non-runner as the head gasket has gone. As far as can be told there is no engine damage and this would be an easy project for a hobbies / enthusiast. It had a new radiator and water pump in March last year. Chassis is in good condition as is the body work for it's age. Various scuffs (light level scratches) and a couple of tiny dents dotted around. Sold as seen (minus the bike rack). Prior to the head gasket going it was a great car to drive, powerful and well balanced and sadly got my first speeding ticket in so there is considerable sentimental value! Engine cover is available, it just wasn't on the engine when I took the photos. Also please note the bike rack on the back doesn't come with the car :) Vehicle registration is P51 LYA - I've just taken my cherished plate off it hence the lack of plates on the car.   17. Hi Ladies & Gents. I have an Audi A6 for sale. It's a non-runner - Head Gasket. The gasket went on the driveway so no engine use since gasket went. It had just had new radiator and water pump. Chassis is in good condition for it's age. Would be ideal for someone who wants to buy a classic and tinker with it. If you're interested please drop me a message. Hello Guss & Gandas Im Prince from Staffordshire and I just bought me a used A3 2.0 tdi yesterday and I have to admit that the mileage was quiet high at 160000 but the thing drove me home like a charm. I didnt really mind the mileage as my mechanic told me because these tdi diesels are built like tanks including the fact that the service history was so accurate. Im pleased of the purchase but its only early days so im not gonna rush my excitement and chill. what I did today was to buy a full service and few other bits to get the service done even though the computer telling me its not due for another 1400 miles. I will get it done this weekend if not earlier. I use to have a Nissan 350z monster of a car that was but in had a bang with an idiot and had to share responsibilities. anyway I am impressed with the fact that I put a full tank but barely moved from full bar after nearly 120miles i drove from to home. Im hoping I can benefit from this car. and by the way the lil thing is freaking quick and respond so fast to the press of a pedal. All in all I wanted you guys to tell me anything I need to keep this baby going. hopefully you will be my guide in this journey.

  22. I've recently been having an issue when starting my car. It turns over fine but then drops from 1000 revs to cutting out. It can take more than half a dozen attempts to get the car running and white smoke comes out when it does. The engine won't rev either when you press the accelerator. The car has 109000 miles on but has been fully serviced and has also had egr/dpf mod and remap in the last year. Any suggestions?

  24. Hi everyone, I've bought a 2002 Audi A4 not that long ago. Been tidying it up here and there but the thing bothers me the most is the terrible rubber/soft plastic coating that you find on the door/handle trim. I now this stuff is notorious for peeling and at the moment its seen better days. Is there a good way of removing it from the plastic handles, trim sides etc. without damaging the plastic underneath. Its possible that I might find replacement parts for the scratched ones but the same thing is just going to happen again & again. If you know what I'm on about, Please give suggestions. Cheers James
  25. hey all. i've owned the car for about a year and do enjoy it immensely, although i am sometimes frustrated by a lack of power, but this should change with a remap coming soon (see below). I love the build quality of the audi, my ex had a bmw and i thought that was a well made car until i bought this! despite my gripes at the lack of power (mainly brought on by owning faster cars and my mates having scoobies) the car is quick, i always like to remind my mates that from A to B, especially around where I live in the Scottish Borders it's just as quick as their jap beasts, and immensely more comfortable! The main reason I went 2 grand over my budget and bought this car was that it was a quattro and I love how planted the car feels in both the dry and wet! that being said the body roll at speed can be too much sometimes. The only negative I can say with the quattro is the real-life MPG figures aren't impressive. I do have a heavy right foot from time to time but on a 6 month average of everyday driving (social and domestic use only Mr Insurance) i returned 33.3 MPG. The car currently is running on Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tyres, and is completely standard with no notable factory optional extras fitted. Anyway that's enough of boring things like fuel economy. I have attached all the photos I've managed to take in a year of ownership (pretty pathetic amount tbh). I don't have the private plate on the car anymore that is my exes. What I want to do: This is where you guys come in. I have a pretty good idea of what I want to do to the car, but the application of the idea is where I ain't so great! Below is a list of "mods" (hate that word I feel like 17yr old boyracer even typing it!) I want to do to the car - any additions, subtractions or general comments would be much appreciated on them!! Alloy refurb and colour change to either graphite or shadow chrome Lowered on coilovers [not sure as to 40 or 60 drop and reputable brands, any ideas????] I've read about RS4 anti roll bars being a good upgrade - any ideas? Uprated brakes - i've done no research on this any ideas? R8 style LED headlights LED rear lights LED fog light cluster Exhaust system [again any ideas here guys and gals????] Performance Air filter [brands etc???] Remap (hoping for 205-215bhp) Button Start (this is mainly cos i have a blank button missing next to the TCS button and thought it would be more interesting that putting a blank in) Blue tint interior light replacement Auto-folding wing mirrors Cruise Control Double din head unit with reversing camera [brands?] I don't for one minute think I am going to get all of these done as my time isn't always free and my pockets aren't bottomless, but in an ideal world this is what I would have.
