  1. Hi, Im new in the forum. Happy nee year everyone. Apologies if there is a topic on this already. Could not find a similar case. i purchased a second hand audi approved Q7 in December 2021. The specs of the car at the time of purchase: Model Year: 2019 19 Engine Capacity: 3,000 Mileage: 17,676 Transmission: Automatic Fuel Type: Diesel The car had all the audi approved pre checks and audi warranty for a year. As you can see the vehicle was low mileage with only 17k on the clock. In the November 2022 during the annual service an oil leak was identified. Nothing major, but they could not check during the service because they need more time to remove parts etc. The audi service advisor mentioned I needed to make a separate appointment for the oil leak check. So I didn’t make the appointment right away since it sounded something uncertain and didnt want to drive to the dealer again just for another day, so I waited for the service to do the check. Now last November 2023 during the annual service the technician at the audi dealership checked the oil, but could not find the oil leak so they need the vehicle once more to stay at the audi garage because they need to take out the engine to find the issue. Apparently, taking the engine out will take a number of hours and the cost will be high just for the diagnostic. So here is my question. The oil leak was identified in November 2022 just before the one year warranty expired. However, the work will take place in February 2024. I mentioned the warranty to them and I believe was their duty to mention that this is rather complicated to diagnose and costly so do it straight after the service in November 2022 within the warranty. I am worried this could become a big issue and that audi wont take any responsibility. The car only drove 4k miles since then. I see no reason for a low mileage vehicle to have an internal oil leakage. Any thoughts/advice on how to address this issue with Audi?
  2. Hello all, New member here! I’ve been looking for a while and found a 2010 Audi A5 2.0 TFSI Q in my budget with the exact specifications I want. 1 owner, excellent milage and great condition. Full Audi SH apart from the last service done by the dealer. I paid for an AA inspection which found an oil leak in the front engine (he said maybe it’s the front cam shaft sensor?). The dealer agreed to get this fixed before I buy the car. Looking at the service history, 30,000 miles ago it seems like Audi did a consumption test as a leak was cleaned and the owner was asked to return after 1000 miles. No other related issues or mentions appear in the history after that, it looks like the owner didn’t go back. So one assumes all was ok and there was no consumption problem? I’m just a little torn as to whether to purchase this car. I really don’t want to find that there is a consumption problem or other issues down the line. The only other things are: There’s only one key so I’d need to buy another. A few diagnostic fault codes came up, though I dont know what they mean. I’ve attached photos of them. All else is perfect and the dealer said he’d give me a year warranty rather than 3 months. Sorry for the long message. I’d really appreciate your opinions and advice please. Thanks in advance.
  3. Hi, New here, but thought I'd ask for some much needed advice. I've had an engine oil leak for up to a year. It doesn't lose much. I just add a really small amount about once a fortnight - but it is a little annoying especially when the oil drips on to wet ground and spreads out on a driveway. And it's covering quite a bit of the car's underside. So I looked into getting it fixed... Been quoted by an Audi dealer over £1200. They say it's the rear crank oil seal, sump seal and oil filter housing. But when I rang another car repair place quite a knowledgeable-sounding person said he was surprised all three things had gone at once. So, does a problem with all three sound reasonable? I'd very much appreciate any opinions on this, thanks.
  4. Hi all, My partner has a Q3 2.0lt TDI (2017) with around 70k miles on it, and having paid almost £200 to investigate, the Audi garage is now quoting another £683 to fix a small crank seal oil leak. This sounds a huge cost for changing a seal.... even if it is a crank seal... This is also after a £1000 service last week... Honestly, it just seems madness. Any advice? Does this seem right?
  5. Hi Guys Looking for some help regarding oil leak spray on my 2010 Audi A5 1.8TFSI Engine Type CABD post PCV Valve replacement. The car was originally giving error codes P227900 Intake air system leak and P017100 Fuel Trim System too lean which looking at other forums can be due to PCV valve issues. On replacement I noticed some oil in PCV but as soon as I replaced car was noticeably smoother not hunting at all. On first drive the car had spray of oil near air filter box and line leading to it. When I removed line I noticed some oil in this and suspect it may be coming from this location . The question I have is why replacing PCV valve would cause this and is there any other oil leak points this may have generated. Ive attached Pictures. Any help would be much appreciated. Regards, Jackie
  6. Hi, I'm new here I just did full service to my car (60k miles) and I've noticed a leak at the back of a gearbox. Maybe someone can help me to find out what happened. Gearbox oil changed at 40k miles at Audi Hull UK. Do I have to take out whole gearbox or just the back part? What could be the cost to fix it? Do I have to change gearbox oil again? Thanks
  7. H All, Would value the community opinion. I know what I should do but not what I want too! Bought a 2009 1.8 Audi A3 s line convertible 2 weeks ago. I love it! Cruse control, Leather seats 18inch rims and all for £6k .55,000 miles on the clock (around 2k under parkers guide).FSH Basically love the car until.........Oil light has come on! put 1ltr of oil in and then 600 miles later oil light is on again. Now im speaking to audi as this was on watchdog and they will fix this free of charge as its a known engine fault (Piston rings are to tight) 9 out of 10 times supply a new engine. Thinking I would take the risk as I can still return it with 30 days but then this morning the coolant light has come on too! on checking has low coolant. Could just be not checked by the dealer? Coolant looks clear and there are no drips under the car. Took about 1/2 a pint to bring up to max So my issue do I a.) Keep the car and get dealer/ Audi to pay for all of the repairs needed and hope nothing else goes wrong b.) cut my losses and return the car and get a car not as spec'ed As said I love the car and really want to keep it but I dont want to be stuck with a turkey that will cost me ££££ in the long run. If i get a new engine whats the worst that can happen??
