  1. Hi all, Just bought a second hand A4 Avant 2016 2.0 TDi Ultra this week. Wondering if anyone has seen this before? Noticed a puddle under left front yesterday. Has gotten bigger overnight. Had a feel and did the old smell test, was a bit greasy but didnt smell of oil. When I wiped the damp area underneath, again it was more wet than greasy. Partner said she'd had the aircon on high so I'm wondering if it's that. The car had been off the road since early-March. Only bought it 4 days ago so can still take it back and I did take out an extended warranty. Any help appreciated though. Thanks, James
  2. Hi All, Has anyone had the following fault code before? 18112/P1704 (Relates to kickdown switch) Any further advise/experience to repair the fault would be appreciated. Car drives great as normal, however engine management light is on. A4 B9 3.0 V6 TDI Quattro (Auto)
  3. Hi All, I'm writing in relation to my 2006 3.0 A6 Allroad. Time has come to change the rear discs and pads. I've done this job countless times on other vehicles and am OK with the release of the EPB (I have VAGCOM) etc. but am hoping that someone can clarify the CORRECT procedure for this job, especially when it comes to pushing the caliper piston back. Now, most mechanics I speak to simply say, take the cap of the brake fluid reservoir and push the piston back, using a screwdriver or appropriate tool. Now ordinarily that's what I'd have expected although when I last referred to a well know car repair manual (all be it for a different make/model) it stated that when pushing the piston back in it was ESSENTIAL that the hose be clamped and the bleed nipple opened. It was stated that this was to ensure no seals were 'flipped' by the back-flow of fluid and so that none of the contaminated fluid from the caliper found it's way back into the system which could cause issues/damage to sensitive ABS components. Can ANYONE clarify what is the correct procedure as it's driving me nuts not being able to find a definitive answer to this one? Thanks, Alex
  4. I noticed a leak from a coolant elbow joint on the driver side towards the rear of the engine, by battery compartment, looking for a part online or any reference from the repair manual that I don't have. Pictures attached so show leak and location. Any help or links would be appreciated Many thanks Tom
  5. Hi Everyone I've just bought a second had Audi A4 (2011) which I love so far. Only problem is with the AUX connection in the center arm rest. The plastic surround has broken away so I'm just left with a loose wire with a jack on the end. Does anyone know what the proper name is for the plastic surround and where i could get a replacemet? Thanks in advance Ross
  6. Afternoon all, I've recently purchased an Audi A6. There are a few cuts/ dents on the large aluminium ring on the steering wheel. I bought it hoping I could repair it later on down the line. Im struggling to find any good methods to do so. Would really appreciate if anyone could lead me in the right or best direction to get these defects repaired. I know there are some gurus out there who may be able to help me out! Please feel free to comment. Cheers, Jason.
  7. Hello everyone. Never posted on this forum myself but here goes. Was slowly pulling out a side road after a bus flashed me to go and got hit by a moped who narrowly overtook the bus and was blind to me and I was blind to him. Rider hit front right wing and flipped onto bonnet. Luckily damage wasn't too bad(could be worse) and the bumper and front right alloy wheel is fine, but the right wing is quite badly crumpled and there are a few fairly large dents on the bonnet. Moped rider said he will cover his own costs and since the damages were not worth making a claim, I am going to get the repairs done myself. I was wondering what kind of cost it will be to repair the bonnet, and whether it can be repaired easily or has to be completely replaced. I was planning on replacing just the wing for now and sorting out the bonnet later in summer but am not sure if it is better to get it all fixed in one go since paint may need to be blended into the panels(was going to buy wing as pre-painted part and fit it). Also I have some slight laquer peel on my rare bumper so maybe buying an unpainted wing, repairing the bonnet, then getting all 3 parts painted as well as blending into the door maybe a better idea, but have no idea what kind of costs it may come to. From what I know: Wing(unpainted)- £35 Wing(Painted)-£140 I can DIY fit it Bonnet(unpainted)-£110 needs to be painted and fitted professionally Bonnet REPAIR: £????? Sorry if I dragged this out but I'm struggling to make this decision. I appreciate any help! Thank you
  8. Hi guys,Just wanted to share my experience with Dr Colourchip paint kits.I recently had a complete idiot ding my A5's door in a supermarket carpark - Although their was no damage to the body work the paint had been chipped and scuffed. I had heard from a friend of mine at Chipsaway that for anything like that he would use Dr colourchip paint restoration kits. Although sceptical I thought I would try out a Standard repair kit as suggested.Wow. Was it good. I have never done any paint work touching up before, but this was so simple to use! You just have to dab it onto the chips the kind of just smear it in and rub it smooth for a clean finish.I would highly recommend it! You just have to go on their website, select your Audi's make and year - then it will show up EVERY colour code! My friend also has given me his discount code, which is CHIPS15 - this will get you 15% off EVERYTHING online! Go take a look - https://www.drcolourchip.co.uk they deliver to the UK and all over europe too.
  9. Hello all, had a very minor prang in the Allroad, yes the one with the horrible plastic front and back! I've managed to pop out one of the rear parking sensors, not in itself a major problem (I am a mechanic, just not on cars) but annoyingly the sensor took the plastic bracket thats heat welded to the back of the bumper with it. Replacing the whole thing is a little (lot) extreme and I can't find any info on material spec for the bumper itself. Does anyone have any info on adhesives that will form a good, long term bond with these components?
  10. Fantastic Audi Allroad Quattro TDI 2.5l 53 plate estate with leather interior. Got lots of mod cons including heated seats. More details on request. In perfect condition inside and out but got issues with turbo boosting. It is slipping gears and currently off road. Would be great to repair it but cannot afford it and have no mechanical skills. Sat on the driveway with a SORN and no insurance so could really do with selling this soon. Would be great for anyone with the skills to repair the turbo boost or for someone wanting spare parts to repair another car. Reasonable offers considered.
