Only two problems with the 2.5.  Fuel pumps if poor quality diesel is used and camshaft lobes on some of the earlier engines wore prematurely due to a case hardening issue.  The camshafts were modified on later engines but I can not remember the change over production date.  Generally its a good engine

From what I know the V6 diesel is a pretty solid unit. Having said that I've not owned one.

hi, I'd like to buy a used a6 (c5). i heard  that the 2.5 tdi engine of the a6(c4) is durable. My question is  how the 2.5 v6 tdi engine. How durable, how tends to failure? Thanks in advance for your answers.
