Hello Alfie,
OK - short ownership.
‘....I took it back to the dealer....’ The one you bought it off?
If so, they have to guarantee the vehicle being fit for purpose for 3? ( could be 6) months, so if they say the turbo is the issue (questionable?) then they will have to sort it.
Audi and engine issues and claim?
You will need to consider that the car is now 9 years old and even if it has main dealer service history up to the hilt and complete, I would not be holding my breath on getting any redress there - but yes, worth a go. If it’s that simple, why didn’t the previous owner/s go down that route?
Perhaps you could let us know how you get on Alfie.
Kind regards,
Gareth.
So yeah i took it back to the dealer i bought it from, they've said theyll cover the cost of finding the problem and anything after that i will have to pay for. Im going to go pick it up ASAP and get a friend (mechanic) to take off the turbo/check that is indeed the fault. As said will also give audi a call and see what they say. Will keep you guys posted. Thanks again! Alfie.

Hi guys,
In need of a new turbo for my a3, thinking about getting a slightly improved one rather than a straight swap,. My old turbo was a k03 i believe but ive been told a k03s turbo would also fit without any hardware adjustments. Anyone got any experiences or advice with this kinda thing?
Thanks in advance.

As per previous posts, my advice would be to speak to Audi to see if your car has one of the affected engines.
Cheers
Steve

Hello Alfie,
Sorry to hear of your issue with oil consumption.
Wondered if you had recently bought the car, or if you have owned it for some time, and it’s only now using oil.
Kind regards,
Gareth.
got the car around 3 months ago, noticed the oil consumption problems after having to top it up about 3/4 weeks after buying.

hi Guys,
Got a 2011 a3 1.8 tfsi, having the same oil consumption problems, took it to the local and after being told theres nothing wrong with it, the oil warning light came on 300 miles after filling it up. I took it back to the dealer who thinks the turbo is leaking the oil, but upon reading this I'm not too keen to go splashing a lot of money a new/refurbished turbo if it is not in fact the problem. Any help/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

does anyone know if the turbo in the tfsi engine is cooled by just oil or if it uses coolant as well?
