I was looking at this the other day as I was working out what the costs were of a new car versus keeping the current A6.

The gearbox oil needs replacing at 40k according to the online service app.

Indeed, I have the App also and noticed this, asked Audi why they were chasing me for a 38k change when it says 40k in their very own app that my car is linked to..... and they said its definitely 38k - hmmm wonder what would happen if it was not charged and failed at 39k for instance

Suppose we cannot expect to pay all this premium money and expect something as basic as this to be correct eh....

Hello ykes ( is that your name?).

In a nutshell - based on a similar service  for other marques, this seems a reasonable (very, even) price.

I guess you are able to check around other localish main dealers and independents and check whether it is indeed a reasonable charge or not. You could also check with gearbox specialists.
The only thing that confuses, is why you want this done at the low mileage of 38k.
No doubt specified in the service schedule-?? Double that mileage has often to taken as  the marker.
    Kind regards,

    Gareth.

    Hi Gareth,

Well no, for some reason when it was set up it picked up part of my email address; it's Yan.

So I checked local Audi dealers all the same price or more, but same Audi group, they used to do price matching against local garages but now don't - so guess thats called go old price fixing...

I've called a specialist and they also queried the miles saying would expect to be twice that; so guess these gearbox's are flakey and thus an early oil change; waiting for them to come back with a price and what work that is; if it's just drain and replace oil thats crazy given car would be in for a main service and thus already being worked on at the same time.

Also in the Audi price they want £9.99 to dispose of the oil, which I've queried as was going in for the standard service at the same time > they can put it in a container and I'll take FOC to the local Council Recycling centre for that !

On similar marques do you happen to know the frequency of change?

    Cheers

  3. Hi - anyone had this completed recently, a few questions please:

    1. How much did you pay?

    2. Where was is it done?

    3. What exactly did it entail (just oil or other items like filter, seal, drain plug etc, etc?

    4. Anyone any information on non Audi garages that comply with the spec?

In a nutshell I know Audi is not cheap, but Jardine Motors Group Audi won't budge on £277.85 and have removed any price match offers; to be frank seems to be overly priced.

Viewpoints also welcomed either way please?

  4. Just so no one else wastes their time; Audi has a server problem so if you get this message give it a few days they say:

    Failed loading mapcare installer.

I have used this to download the latest map file and update my car before and initially did have this problem, fixed by updating Java and then finding there was a check box at the bottom of the page you needed to accept - not the case this time.

Thats using both windows 10 or Mac and every browser you can think of.

I could accept the option to update over the air in the car (if it works) but I would imagine it would take forever for around 20+ gig...

Does anybody have the Comfort and Sound pack with the Bang and Olufsen sound upgrade.

Does it have the pop up tweeters?

I can see from some owner demonstration videos on Youtube that they are not there, and some videos they are.

The attached pictures from the latest UK configurator show them when selected, pictures attached are with and without comfort and sound pack attached.

This video shows them but is from some time ago.  I've ordered a new black edition with C&S and expecting it spring/summer of 2022.

My May 2021 had comfort & sound pack option but did not come with the Pop Up's - pretty sure they were another option you had to add.  The option to add these was not there when I last looked so guess they have removed it - perhaps whilst they change model years....

I went to JCT600 but it was Audi UK that approved it.

And an update on mine, took into Manchester Audi and it has been approved; parts on order.

Strangely they said it comes as a kit with glass that I find hard to believe.....

Mine was just the NSR quarter window, was however the side edge on the OSF door at bottom of the window going but they said not enough of the trim gone to be covered.......   guess will see if it gets worse; could not be bothered to argue it.

Maybe if a few get approved a UK TSB will be issued making it easier for others.

I took my car into the dealers on Thursday and the warranty woman took a look and took photographs to send to Audi. I also gave her a copy of the last Technical Bulletin I posted and told her that it was a US Technical Document. She said she would take a look at it and see if there was a UK version and call me with the outcome in due course.

I got a phone call from the dealer this morning saying that Audi had accepted that the trim is fading and to replace it under warranty. The car is now booked in. Hope with that document and your request that your own dealer speak with Audi and not just dismiss it themselves, that Audi should now accept your claims. Good luck.

    Hi Gregg,

Thanks for the update that is good news; which dealer is that please?

(Will bode well for others that are part of the same dealership group)

    Cheers,

    Lee

I've not been back to the dealers yet and nor have I found a UK version of the Technical Bulletin, but I have found an update on the previous one. The difference is now that they accept the discolouration may be metallic in appearance and so not polished within and inch of its life as one dealer has suggested to a previous member.

Thank you for sharing this Gregg, I will use this when I take my car in for them to look at in middle of November if they try and not cover it under warranty 🙂
