Is this the same problem you wrote about on 7th September? If so, what did you do about the Mechatronic control?

Hello, yes it is the same problem.

I took it to a garage to diagnose and got the sensor issue.

Since then I took out my mechatronics unit and shipped it off to ECU testing to see if they could fix it. They say there is nothing wrong it and it works as it should. Im starting to think either the magnets in the gearbox may have broken but I have no idea where to get those fork magnets from...

  2. Hi Guys,

I had a new clutch put in about 3 months ago and my gearbox serviced about 7 months ago.

My car is acting like it doesn't know what gears to pick at any point you try to put your foot down?

I took it to a garage and they said its an intermittent error  -

P173A – Position sensor 1 for gear selector, implausible signal

I have shipped it to ECU Testing and they have said there is nothing wrong with the unit and it has passed its tests.

They say It might be a sensor issue to fix, has anybody heard of this before?

    Best wishes,

  3. I recently noticed my car starting flashing PRNDS at me a few weeks ago.

The car drives absolutely fine but sometimes displays this error.

Only today for the first time, did my car have a hissy fit and could not decide what gear to drive in, as if were to jerk back to 3rd when it should be in 4th?

It definitely cant be the clutch as I have had a good quality set put on less than 3000 miles ago?

Is it worth repairing the mechatronics unit or replacing it entirely?

How much does this cost roughly...

    Thank you! 🙂

Found this link that claims the gearbox can take 350bhp/400n/m

Bare in mind I believe this gearbox was fitted to vag cars with stock engines of 250bhp. The fact you're updating the clutch will help this. I'd also recommend a gearbox oil change. Also it might be worth seeing if the gearbox itself can be remapped.

    This link might also help:

I have just had the gearbox oil changed.

A performance clutch will be fitted next week.

Do you reckon I can still handle the map without a dsg remap but with a performance clutch?

  5. I have an Audi A3 2009 – S line.

It is a 1.8T CDAA Engine with 160bhp as standard with a DSG Gearbox code 7 SPEED -0AM DRY CLUTCH. (DQ200)

I am looking to get a performance clutch fitted to my car as I want to take it to stage 1 220BHP.

Can a DQ200 gearbox handle this map?

    Cheers
