Yes I would like to avoid the diesel but what is the likely economy difference between the petrol and diesel?
-
I’m looking at a 2022 A6 Avant to replace a diesel SUV I have now that’s not ULEZ compliant. I’ll be doing 13-14k miles a year
I’m swaying towards the diesel for the cost saving in fuel now that diesel is pretty much the same price per litre as unleaded
But with diesel and me going into the ULEZ is there a risk even a EURO6 diesel will be charged soon
What are people’s thoughts? Will the 40TSI cost a lot more in fuel over 14k miles?

Mine is in next week for its 114k (38*3) stronic oil service, its independent of the normal service, not sure if is should have coincided with a normal service or not, I guess not if on long life service schedule.
Thanks - I’ll have to call the dealer and ask. Out of interest how much are they quoting to do it?
-
Just looking at the online service booking on Audis website for my 40tdi and it lists the extra items like cambelt etc
However it’s not offering the S-tronic oil change
My car is on 39k and I believe the change interval is 40k
Am i right and it needs booking or do they just change the gearbox oil as part of the normal service?

Thanks. Is there a noticeable amount more width in the A6? I know there’s a good amount more legroom but thought width may be fairly similar

I am considering a 2022 A4 Avant but wondering what people’s thoughts are on rear seat space
We have two children who are in the forward facing group 3 child seats (booster seats with a back). We sometimes have to take one of our parents out with us and for that my wife sits in the back between the two child seatsWhat are people’s experience of the space in the back. Would an adult fit between two child sears? Could anyone measure the size of the middle seat so the distance between the outer seats isofix points? -
Air con refresh has always been an extra. Certainly brake fluid has been covered on other plans I’ve had and I sort of expected the gearbox oil to be covered since it’s a scheduled fluid change
-
So are all these things extra:
- Air filter
- Pollen filter
- Brake fluid
- Spark plugs
- S Tronic oil change

I’m looking at a couple of next car options and an A4 35TFSI Avant is high up my list. I’m just trying to work out service plans though
Most other manufacturers seem to offer a plan that covers everything which has a scheduled interval. However reading the Audi one it seems the plan only covers the service and then other items like brake fluid, S-Tronic oil change etc are all still charged as extras
Is that really true? Given they have a set service schedule I assumed like other manufacturers they’d be included in any service plan

I’m looking at getting an A4 Avant 35 TFSI S-Tronic. How do people find the performance? I know it’s only the bottom end petrol but it still looks like it performs ok
I have an 80 mile commute of motorway and 50mph with about half in traffic. Am I unrealistic thinking I might get 45mpg on that journey?

I couldn’t find that thread

Hi - I’m looking at an ex demonstrator 40TFSI S-Line Avant I’ve seen advertised
I am just wondering what the service intervals are on these? I have seen differing information around it being variable or fixed - I’ll be doing 15k a year
Also I see Audi offer service plans but do these cover everything such as pollen filters, S-Tronic gearbox oil changes etc or do they just cover the basic service and all those things are still charged extra?
-
Sticking with what I have isn’t really an option as it’s having things go wrong plus gets charged for ULEZ.
in terms of what I’m looking for. That’s a good question. A year old car with under 10k miles is what I was thinking but with current used prices often these aren’t much different to buying a new car
-
Agree they can wear and stretch but that’s not expected I don’t think and therefore there is no scheduled change interval for them?
-
I am also looking at servicing costs and it seems the diesel is a cambelt which will need an expensive change at 60k whereas the petrol is a cam chain so won’t need a change?

80 miles daily??
I would say Diesel is a no brainer. My own opinion.
Sorry yes my commute is 80 miles but I only do it twice a week. It also goes into the London ULEZ and while modern diesels are still ok it could be that the Mayor soon starts charging all diesels. They certainly seem to be very much out of favour now

Hi. I am looking to change my current diesel to the petrol 35TFSI Avant S-Tronic and am wondering what sort of economy I should expect
My commute is 80 miles. Half motorway and the other half 50mph with heavy traffic
A6 Avant 40TDI or 40TSI

Thanks. I think I’ll be doing about 13-14k but that could go up to 17k a year so maybe I should just go petrol
