in dynamic mode it will lower the suspension slightly and also has adaptive ride height. Is this the same for the Vorsprung S6?

    Fairly sure it is.

Does the car feel like it’s a 2.5t car with this air suspension or more agile?

I'm now bias but it felt more planted and less pitch and roll.

I noted in the courtesy car I was given 2020 TDI 50 I drove with the s suspension with damper control it felt like it gripped well but felt heavy and some what unresponsive going over bumps in the road sort of like the older models of range rover sport where the weight shifted and you felt the suspension stiffen up with a little body roll but otherwise you’d have to lift off the throttle to shift the weight back onto the front of the chassis for the feedback when taking a tight corner or bend with a mild gradient spiritedly.

Not to be too blunt about it but these are mile munching exec cars with some added oomph. I regular do 275 mile trips without a stop, get 41+ MPG while still 'making progress', have some fun and I get out ready to do a days work.  My wife hates it, too big and too many lights and buttons but this just given me more opportunity to drive it.

Wasn’t quite the directness I was hoping for in a saloon/estate Quattro.

The difference between Eco and Dynamic is marked in mine but even in Dynamic the 4-wheel steering maybe making some of the sensation you are expecting, compared to my E350d Merc I had before it took some time to get full attuned.

Interestingly I have a client that took delivery of an RS6 at the same time as I got my S6, he has no idea what's under his right foot as he doesn't use it and his eats tyres, maybe that how they make it feel more direct!

Can you get Matrix headlights on the current S6?  I was told mine was one of the last to get them because of component shortages and Audi wouldn't be reintroducing them until the next gen was released.

  2. Having driven bot a Vorsprung and a none Vorsprung S6 prior to purchasing mine they are both very component cars and both have a pleasant ride quality with one up, where the Vorsprung wins hands down is when towing and/or fully loaded you just don't know on the air suspension.  Other than the MPG I'm not really aware I'm towing 1.4 tonnes and carrying 150Kg in the boot!

My decision was also based on mine being a keeper. I've always been a firm believer they you add as few option as possible because these cost for these is generally written off the day it leaves the showroom (with a few exceptions) so I'm hoping mine will be worth a lot more than an A6 with lots and lots of options as and when it's time to move it on in 9 years time.

  3. Steve,  I have no issues with the Brembo product, I trust the brand.

I'm not looking for performance reasons, I'm looking because the car is kept outdoors 50m for the sea.  The car is protected to hell and kept clean but I can't do anything about the brake disks and it's torcher listening to the grinding of the pad and disks every time it' rubbing off the surface rust, let alone the reduction is lifespan!

your feedback possibly negates the last six words, thankyou.

I have no wish to spent many thousands on a ceramic solution but so far nobody has come up with an alternate.  I might try a set of the Brembo's on the front of my car and feedback to Joe, as requested, before changing to a ceramic solution (if one exists) and if they don't resolve my issue. Finally, and with all due respect, your perspective is wrong and you clearly don't know me.

    Hi Charles,

Instead of ceramic, look at 'coated' rotors/discs.

I know exactly what you are saying about the discs with slight surface rust every morning.  So i've been looking at Brembo's UV treated rotors.

    https://www.brembo.com/jp/ComunicatiStampa/2012/Brembo_UV_Coated_Discs_EN.pdf

Let us (me) know if you get these, and how you get on 🙂

    Thanks, Joe

I might be misreading the Brembo document but surly once the disks have done a few miles the coating will have warn away and we'll be back to surface rust??

I’ve used ‘LLLparts’ before, theyve been very helpful, even when I couldn’t find the parts in the catalogue.

So if you can’t see what you want in there I’m sure if you send them an enquiry, they’ll be able to give you both the part numbers and the ‘exploded’ diagrams.

Cheers, I'll given them a go.

  6. Firstly, is this possible?

Was it ever an option on the C8 S6's?  If so how do I get a parts explosion/breakdown for the the current "non-ceramic" and "ceramic" brake options so I can create a shopping list?

Friend/neighbour has a GT3 and an M3 both both ceramic disks and doesn't have an issues even though he has his parked outside as well.

    Cheers

  7. Does this generation of car have a traction control type indicator that flashed when the systems have jumped in to stop the wheels loosing traction?

I'm used to driving cars on track without any traction control so my driving style is probably different to someone who's grown up with it but I'm trying to explain why my car is eating rear brake pads.  Fronts at 15% warn after 18K miles but the rears are 60% warn.

If there isn't an indicator I'm just going to have to modify my driving style🙃.

  8. Interesting, I got in the car 17:45 on Sat and no call or destination history.  Drove the car for 30 mins, picked up a meal and when I got back in and started the car everything back to normal.

Only thing that was slightly odd was I didn't get the user prompt until after the engine had started.

Has the quick access bar gone back to it's original location?

  9. I've just scanned my car for the first time and one of the Static errors is an IPv6 Address Conflict
Can anyone shed any light on what might be causing this and how to resolve it?
I done the usual internet type search and this code and message doesn't appear.

The car is factory spec except for having a very expensive Audi tow bar fitted that was activated by the dealer using a key and now shows up as a factory installed item on the components list.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

    Regards
    Chares

  10. Hi, don't know the answer to your question but, and don't quote me on the terminology, but are you on a fixed servicing plan where the car will prompt you every 9600 miles for an oil/inspection service?  I believe you can have the car reprogrammed for flexible servicing so the oil changes can stretch beyond 9600 miles.

One of my clients had this change applied and some of the cars go 17500 miles between oil changes!  Most of there cars are 60K miles per year cars.

  11. I've been using a iCarSoft CR V2.0 for a few years but I've just tried to update for the S6 C8 and it doesn't appear to be supported so I'm looking for a replacement that works with VAG and others.

Mainly for fault code checking, battery replacement and general servicing type resets.

Ideally I'd like to pay for it and not have an annual subscription to pay but this is not a hard and fast requirement.

    Suggestions appreciated.

  12. I'm under the impression that the green pedal symbol comes on when the car thinks you can come off the gas and it will coast up to a junction without issue.

I get a squiggly parallel line symbol when the cruise is backing off to keep the car stable round the twisty bits.  Very clever and don't know if it uses the cameras, the GPS maps or both to make the decisions.

It's easy for the car to make driving numb but it is safe.

My other car doesn't have traction control, ABS or power steering so I use this to have fun and let the S6 oil burner eat miles in comfort, albeit with the ability to deal with the majority of the people that think there car is an F1 car and think they can drive🙃

  13. My  55TDi has it.  Does it irrespective of the Start/Stop setting and the Aircon can be on, however I generally have my Aircon on Eco mode not full mode and most of the time I drive in Economy mode.

Little battery symbol on the end of the MPG display needs to be green.

I've noticed it mostly on the motorway when cruise control is on and the RPM drops to zero and the car speed can drop by up to 2MPH before it restarts the engine.  It will also kick in  if going down a hill on the m-way.

If not on cruise then you need to be off the throttle for a few seconds for it to kick in, again normally happens going down hill.

    Maybe it's a 4pot / 6pot difference??
