Any good 3rd party fully integrated CAN bus tow-bar electronics will deal with all of the advanced features, however when I researched this these were at least twice the cost of a dumb system.
In the end I opted for a genuine Audi tow-bar retrofit for a stupid amount of money but it just works and does lots of smart tweaks to the suspension, gearbox and engine that make towing 1.6 tonnes effortlessly.

Sorry for the delay in updating, front NS suspension unit replaced but the car is still dropping on all four corners, roughly 10mm on both fronts and 6mm on both rears after 6 days of being parked up; is this acceptable?
-
I think it might be something to do with the dealerships and/or how my car is configured but a full MMI reset hasn't fixed the issue. The car has reported the U12D000 "IPv6 address conflict" messages while in the Audi main dealer workshops, 3 different ones so far.
1st dealership - Where I purchased the car from would not come back to me and have now folded.
2nd dealership - Closes one to home wouldn't even acknowledge I'd asked them, very poor service and they tried to get me to change the rear brakes, £480 estimate, stating the wear was in the amber range whereas dealer 3 has twice reported the brakes are barely warn.
3rd dealership - Has acknowledged the request and are looking into it🤞.

Front NSF drop is excessive and the other ride height changes could be attributed to that. NSF is down and OSR has gone up. OSF and NSR slightly down but could be caused by NSF being so low just like a puncture would. You said front right had been changed so front left failing now would be logical
Agreed, cheers

Shouldn't be dropping to the floor. It needs a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up but does sound like a leaking suspension airbag.
Steve, cheers for the feedback.
No messages unless it's on the desk at which point it reports a "Sports differntail Fault" and an "Air suspension: vehicle currently too low" and a C11E2F1 and a couple of U122B00 messages.
If the suspension just drops a bit then nothing so I agree an airbag or possibly an air suspension controller that has a leek??

Before I do battle with the dealership, is it acceptable for the air suspension to drop over, say, a week and if so what's acceptable?
Originally reported the the front air suspension was on the bump stops after 7 days and the rears had dropped as well.
Dealership changed the front right suspension unit (why they can't use nearside and offside I don't know)
Put the car in quarantine for a week and visually it appeared to have dropped so before unlocking and getting in the car I took the following measurements:
Front OS – 704mm
Front NS – 695mm
Rear OS – 732mm
Rear NS – 710mm
After I started the car they changed to:
Front OS – 722mm
Front NS – 729mm
Rear OS – 729mm
Rear NS – 721mm
It's defiantly better than it was but still dropping
What are peoples thoughts on cause and levels (if any) of acceptable drop over time.
Up until Sept 2023 (2 1/2 years old) it hadn't dropped at all when left.

I’m really disappointed as my order has been suspended and now cancelled by Audi. It was due for delivery March 2025. This was due to shortage of engine blocks. They were supposedly meant to have honoured my order given they have suspended production but it appears it won’t be completed.
Gutted!
Im looking at used cars but I wanted white with Vorsprung spec.
My take on the German estates is as follows, though if there is anything to take from this review/comparison I’m very much an iPhone man when it comes to cars with spec and tricks. Keep it simple. If I have to deep dive menus to turn something on or off it becomes too complicated to just get in and drive.
The E class, which came in close 2nd- great engine and transmission, probably the best in terms of overall performance and pick up. it looks very smart and subtle externally. However the interior and cockpit was tacky infotainment was crap and I felt the price tag with the options was overpriced. I think the spec I was looking at was well over £80k.
i looked at the BMW 5 series tourer which came last - again great gearbox and engine,it was a serious drivers car by far the most exciting diesel to drive. i took issue with the fact the suspension was always firm and as a daily driver it was too ‘pure’. Option wise tallying up the extras was annoying the interior wasn’t comfortable or sound proofing wasn’t great compared to the other 2.
i went with the A6 avant 50TDi initially but this was between model changes 2022-2023 and my order before arriving in the UK succumbed to the flooding in Germany in transit. I had to order again but this time it was a MY24 not 22/23 which meant the only model available was the 40TDi.
which hasn’t got any guts in it.
So I looked at the hybrid and it felt heavy and clunky and the electric cut in and out was terrible not to mention the range claimed was fictional at best.
i still stand and say look wise and interior Audi estates/saloons are way better. The only criticism is that they probably could do with a few more customisation options with regards to the colour and fabric/finishes of the interior. It’s fairly limited.
arguably the 50TDi is the better engine for these cars. The S6 initially wasn’t my first choice because I felt the power for the v6 diesel was enough for daily driving the only reason Im in the market for the the S6 was that it probably would hold its value in resale as an estate version in The UK post decline of diesel sales as a desired car there is less of them on the road compared with the RS6. Potentially making it iconic being that they are/were so unpopular of the time being that the previous pedigree had been milder v8 petrol engines.
The pessimist in me says there isn't a shortage of blocks but a shortage of EV and low CO2 emission vehicle sales that means selling a large diesel will attract the EU emissions fine and they haven't factored in the alleged 10,000 Euro fine for exceeding there allowance. I believe Merc have the same issue E450d (EU manufacture) very long lead times, GLE450d (US manufacture) available even though we are supposed to be linked to EU rules. I'm probably reading too much into recent supply issues.

What's the build up of the 100KG+ for the MHEV as it's not actually propelling the car?
On my 2022 S6 it only appears to be a 48V battery, 48V starter/alternator and a 48V turbo motor??

in dynamic mode it will lower the suspension slightly and also has adaptive ride height. Is this the same for the Vorsprung S6?
Fairly sure it is.
33 minutes ago, Optimus said:Does the car feel like it’s a 2.5t car with this air suspension or more agile?
I'm now bias but it felt more planted and less pitch and roll.
36 minutes ago, Optimus said:I noted in the courtesy car I was given 2020 TDI 50 I drove with the s suspension with damper control it felt like it gripped well but felt heavy and some what unresponsive going over bumps in the road sort of like the older models of range rover sport where the weight shifted and you felt the suspension stiffen up with a little body roll but otherwise you’d have to lift off the throttle to shift the weight back onto the front of the chassis for the feedback when taking a tight corner or bend with a mild gradient spiritedly.
Not to be too blunt about it but these are mile munching exec cars with some added oomph. I regular do 275 mile trips without a stop, get 41+ MPG while still 'making progress', have some fun and I get out ready to do a days work. My wife hates it, too big and too many lights and buttons but this just given me more opportunity to drive it.
42 minutes ago, Optimus said:Wasn’t quite the directness I was hoping for in a saloon/estate Quattro.
The difference between Eco and Dynamic is marked in mine but even in Dynamic the 4-wheel steering maybe making some of the sensation you are expecting, compared to my E350d Merc I had before it took some time to get full attuned.
Interestingly I have a client that took delivery of an RS6 at the same time as I got my S6, he has no idea what's under his right foot as he doesn't use it and his eats tyres, maybe that how they make it feel more direct!
Can you get Matrix headlights on the current S6? I was told mine was one of the last to get them because of component shortages and Audi wouldn't be reintroducing them until the next gen was released.
-
Having driven bot a Vorsprung and a none Vorsprung S6 prior to purchasing mine they are both very component cars and both have a pleasant ride quality with one up, where the Vorsprung wins hands down is when towing and/or fully loaded you just don't know on the air suspension. Other than the MPG I'm not really aware I'm towing 1.4 tonnes and carrying 150Kg in the boot!
My decision was also based on mine being a keeper. I've always been a firm believer they you add as few option as possible because these cost for these is generally written off the day it leaves the showroom (with a few exceptions) so I'm hoping mine will be worth a lot more than an A6 with lots and lots of options as and when it's time to move it on in 9 years time.

Steve, I have no issues with the Brembo product, I trust the brand.
My original post states
QuoteI'm not looking for performance reasons, I'm looking because the car is kept outdoors 50m for the sea. The car is protected to hell and kept clean but I can't do anything about the brake disks and it's torcher listening to the grinding of the pad and disks every time it' rubbing off the surface rust, let alone the reduction is lifespan!
your feedback possibly negates the last six words, thankyou.
I have no wish to spent many thousands on a ceramic solution but so far nobody has come up with an alternate. I might try a set of the Brembo's on the front of my car and feedback to Joe, as requested, before changing to a ceramic solution (if one exists) and if they don't resolve my issue. Finally, and with all due respect, your perspective is wrong and you clearly don't know me.

Hi Charles,
Instead of ceramic, look at 'coated' rotors/discs.
I know exactly what you are saying about the discs with slight surface rust every morning. So i've been looking at Brembo's UV treated rotors.
https://www.brembo.com/jp/ComunicatiStampa/2012/Brembo_UV_Coated_Discs_EN.pdf
Let us (me) know if you get these, and how you get on 🙂
Thanks, Joe
I might be misreading the Brembo document but surly once the disks have done a few miles the coating will have warn away and we'll be back to surface rust??

I’ve used ‘LLLparts’ before, theyve been very helpful, even when I couldn’t find the parts in the catalogue.
So if you can’t see what you want in there I’m sure if you send them an enquiry, they’ll be able to give you both the part numbers and the ‘exploded’ diagrams.
Cheers, I'll given them a go.

Firstly, is this possible?
Was it ever an option on the C8 S6's? If so how do I get a parts explosion/breakdown for the the current "non-ceramic" and "ceramic" brake options so I can create a shopping list?

Friend/neighbour has a GT3 and an M3 both both ceramic disks and doesn't have an issues even though he has his parked outside as well.
Cheers

Gary / Steve, thank you for your feedback.

Does this generation of car have a traction control type indicator that flashed when the systems have jumped in to stop the wheels loosing traction?
I'm used to driving cars on track without any traction control so my driving style is probably different to someone who's grown up with it but I'm trying to explain why my car is eating rear brake pads. Fronts at 15% warn after 18K miles but the rears are 60% warn.
If there isn't an indicator I'm just going to have to modify my driving style🙃.
-
Every time I get in the car and start it I get the Pre Sense indicator.
It goes away after 5-10s, is this normal?
-
Interesting, I got in the car 17:45 on Sat and no call or destination history. Drove the car for 30 mins, picked up a meal and when I got back in and started the car everything back to normal.
Only thing that was slightly odd was I didn't get the user prompt until after the engine had started.
Has the quick access bar gone back to it's original location?
-
The wording that caught my eye was "turn off the car a message comes up on the top screen saying xxxx is registered", I don't see this when I switch off my car. I get the prompt for the user to login as but not when I turn it off, how do you enable this?
-
So far so good. Just in diagnostics mode researching a possible issue / issues.
Very easy to use and fairly logical app.
-
Purchased an OBDElevel with a Pro Licence.

I've just scanned my car for the first time and one of the Static errors is an IPv6 Address Conflict
Can anyone shed any light on what might be causing this and how to resolve it?
I done the usual internet type search and this code and message doesn't appear. The car is factory spec except for having a very expensive Audi tow bar fitted that was activated by the dealer using a key and now shows up as a factory installed item on the components list.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated
Regards

Hi, don't know the answer to your question but, and don't quote me on the terminology, but are you on a fixed servicing plan where the car will prompt you every 9600 miles for an oil/inspection service? I believe you can have the car reprogrammed for flexible servicing so the oil changes can stretch beyond 9600 miles.
One of my clients had this change applied and some of the cars go 17500 miles between oil changes! Most of there cars are 60K miles per year cars.
S6 Air Suspension Drop
in Audi A6 (C8) Forum

Appears to be sorted but looking for a C8 specialist once the warranty expires as I've lost total confidence with the main dealer customer services management. I found a dealer with decent customer servers but as soon as they had to escalate for clearance I encountered feedback from someone who shouldn't be in this type of roll.
I still have lots CAN bus communications errors but can't get Audi to do anything about them, TADS (they all do that sir) but I work in data communications and don't agree. It's either poor module firmware or a loose fibre/copper connection. If I had access to the schematics and module / connections location I'd go through it myself once out of warranty but I cant find these anywhere.
Cheers for the chase.
