  1. This is what happened to me give or take, I think you did ok for £1200, which was around what I paid. Interesting about the clean EGR valve, I only use BP standard so hopefully, mine won't be too bad.

  2. From what I've seen:

Make sure the gearbox has been serviced at the correct interval, 40k miles. Make sure it drives smooth, no jerkiness. (if it's an S-Tronic gearbox). You might be able to get a BiTDI for that money which has a proper auto box.

Listen out for a stretched timing chain or broken tensioners, especially pre facelift.

I think they're the major ones for the A7.

  3. Mine started doing this before Christmas and eventually lost power and overheated. It turned out to be the coolant pump and the coolant regulator valve. if you look down at the engine tray from the front near the radiator does it look damp? The coolant pump is to the lower right, is it dripping?

  4. I thought I'd post here instead of opening a new thread as I have a similar question. I'm thinking about getting a set of 17" A6 alloys for fairly cheap, for winter/ride quality. The issue I can see is that I would be going from 265/255 (can't remember) width to 225 width. I can imagine grip would be reduced, but could anybody see an issue with this?

  5. I would agree they're not the best MPG figures. It just occurred to me that you might need to check your tyre pressures, I've got mine set at 38F/41R (PSI). The BiTurbo does use a different gearbox too (Torque converter vs DSG) which may slightly reduce mpg.

  6. I've got a the 270HP A7 and on a 200 mile run I've had it up to 47mpg, without cruise control and A/C it might reach 50mpg🤷🏻‍♂️. Long term though after 9500 miles of mixed driving it's 37mpg, which while not amazing isn't that bad for a 3L V6 2000KG car ( These are indicated figures from the cars computer)

  7. Appreciate the thorough advice guys! I'll definitely be shopping around in that case.

With ECP, I'd heard that even if you purchased "Brand Name", you weren't actually getting the "proper" product, maybe under license, whether this is true or not I'm not sure.

Looks like I'll give Brembo a go. One thing I've just noticed is there are differing thicknesses of pads from 16-20mm, is there a specific thickness?

  8. Has anybody powder coated the diamond cut 10 spoke 20" alloys (4G9601025N)? I need to get mine refurbed and the specialist recommended powder coating as it will last much longer. I'm just not sure how they'd look/if they'd look that great without the diamond cut finish.

  9. I was worried about my oil level on the digital gauge too, as mine got to the minimum. Bought 1L of oil, and used 500ml which brought it all the way to MAX! So it seems it's not a huge amount, just a prompt to top up a touch. Just had my oil changed and the digital gauge was 3/4, I'd rather have slightly less than too much oil.

EDIT: I should add I did provide my own oil Castrol EDGE 2x4L, and there was some left over so it definitely, took around 7-7.5L
