  1. Hi Guy.

I have just had "words" with the management  at the  garage regarding GB oil change

The AUDI A5 has done 1450 miles since its last full service Circa  £250 they did not do a 50K GB oil

As its one year older it must have a years service to keep the extended warranty.

So £183 to change oils and filters  after 1450 miles.

They will do the gearbox as well in that price.

I must admit i am tempted to take them some of my old Covid masks

  2. Hi Gareth.

Its just like talking to a brick wall.

But if it is 38K there 3 or 4 service places did not do it

And there sheets say full service

One MOT and service report is missing

Not sure how I could check who done that one

I wonder if its in that one

I maybe look at it I over 17k max I will but on is 3/4k.

If I took it in for the YEARs service it will have donr 2 k   GRRRR

    I just mull on it.

I have had cars for circa 60 years the bigger the service centre

And we used the think the "bomb site guys were a set of rogues"

the bigger the company  the bigger the con it seems

    I will report back gents

    Thank you

Well it is keeping my old grey matter exercised

  3. Hi

I am in that situation myself

    Hi Guys

    I purchased a 2015 A5 sportsback petrol 1786cc

It had 49881 on the clock..Immaculate condition I have only added 1500 miles to date

Service records and MOTs  back to 2018 all major places.

But I cant find a GEARBOX oil change in any of the service reports.

I rang AUDI  "get it in NOW 35K miles needed changed"

I contacted the Big dealer I purchased it fron and  a full service

was done at the 49800 point.

I mentioned that there was no sign of 50k gearbox oil change.

OOOPS we must of missed that. Bring it on 4 months before the next service and we will

well do it free with  the new new service.

Now is it 35 or 50k for a change/ At a max i will add maybe 4k (90 years old)

Do I need to bother a change

I am either 2k over or 17k over the correct mileage.

And all services have been on time according to its history

Where did PLUG OUT drain PLUG IN  go ???

  4. Hi Steve,

    I have looked around.

It seems there are lots of H7 Bulbs.

A number of sellers have told me there H7s are not suitable for my A5 ?

I just thought an H7 was an H7 was an H7.

I am just nervious of others needing code changes and the like.

    So am totally confused.

My Camry I just took out the Filament and popped in the Halogen,

In 2000 if course these were the upgrade to go for.

I was hoping for a reply from some other

"I changed to XXX no problems lots of light "

I am getting a bit of an expert using the cars lights in front of me ?

I dare not even ask my Big shiny AUDI centre for advice.

    But thanks as always Steve...

Have a good 24 all you guys

    Johnny M

  5. Hi Guys

    80 try 89 lol

    I ran a Camry 26 years yes 26

Insured  with a major company was in the £500 area full no claims

I got a quote from the same company for my "new 2015 A5 1800 "

    Of £1900 YES,

I ended up with another major company at £880.

    It seemed a bargain LOL

  6. Hi Gareth.

Yes its sorted overheat wise that same week.

Its just the BS I got as to where it was from.

    For BS read lies.

And the day after purchase did not go down vert well.

Yes headlights wise I am set up to see folks next Wednesday,

Its not a difficult job at all but I just want to know why they are

still rubish after they repaired them.

One has to have trust in garages I dont in this one at all.

I understand whats going on lots dont.

    Shame on them.

    Take care

    Johnny M ( that B turbo works )

  7. Hi Gareth

    Thanks for the reply.

Pardon me for sounding off lol

The last MOT was  24 Feb 2023 49371 all clear.

From the outlet I purchased  it from.

    Miles since the MOT 1831 =  51202

    I purchased it 2 June 23 broke down on 3 June 23

Never needed heads till last few weeks.

I noticed on the last MOT they checked the Clutch Cable its a CVT

Cabin filter was changed. I changed that automatically it had not been

Only FAIL was 21/22  Headlights to high. LOL.

    Passed 2 days later,

Its just i am having difficulty's in handing my servicing to them

I am afraid I  am fussy all the way from my 1950 £45.00 805cc Morris minor.

    Thanks again guys.

Her indoors sorted my problem  We dont go out if its near dark

    Simple

  8. Some months ago JUNE  1st.

    I purchased  a  2015  A5 Petrol Fastback   1975 cc 50k

Wonderful condition. I did make comment on this at the time 6 years service info and all the original AUDI books unused/

But now being over 21/90 last week I dont know how to find it. Computer are just getting away from me.

I broke down the day after buying it while in the moors of  Northern UK only sheep around I had 2 litres of water in

my Pick up and Run medial kit please I had transferred that.

It was of course "enjoy sir serviced ready to go " the day before.

Loss of water it took 6 more litre's to get me home 17 miles or so. .Thank you Starbucks,

I just got lies from the main Dealer where I purchased it from regarding the problem

I am a time served plumber (years ago) water I do know about.

I was told the small pipe comming out of the expansion container to the rear of the unit had come detached.

Its next to the FILLER hole to top up the Coolant.

I used that hole to top the system up a many times to keep going.

No water NO steam where I am sure I would of had ( Would I or steam to my windscreen )

Non was noticed. I am sure It would of been uncomfortable me topping up with it detached. ?

But the MASTER Mechanic confirmed in front of his Superior that it was detached.

(I was after all just a customer)

And that the Expansion container had not been removed.  I made my comments but was unable to do more.

Now I am getting BS again about the HEADLIGHTS Manual control on the dash I have not needed headlights

till these last few weeks .I can reset myself but as its an MOT item now i dont think thats wise.

Dealer has "Fixed it" but I am still getting flashed my the aircraft comming in to Newcastle Airport.

And the Dips are someplace I cant see the Kerb.

I cant get any confirmation on what was repaired. Even manager I will get back to you and Not

I have collected the names handling the car and the Owners.

    Comment pleased

After all i am just the OLD GUY that gave is a good amount of £.   Oh no I am not

    Any expert Near Gosforth Newcastle

    S*d it   Stoneacre Gateshead

Johnny M old still got marbles.

  9. Hi Guys.

Following on from my "new"  2015 A5 Sportsback hatch back being  very heave to lift.

    Manual not powered.

I have this week  after a firm discussion with her indoors who cant lift it at all.

    Changed the Dampers this week.

1 Of the originals Ii could depress say near 3 inches.

    Other ok.

Replace them has made no difference to the heavy starting lift at all

Other than a little faster swing more like half way up

I could not depress the new ones at all.

    Am I missing some thing

    Johnny M

  10. Hi Steve

Yes Auto I thought it was about that time

I am just trying to get things levelled off from a service point of view.

    Ok on the water

Well I like to cure the problem rather that treat it to be honest has no one  done that.

All years seem to mention it. My 8 year old must be rusty as hell inside the sills. GREAT

So do new ones have the same problem.

I don't understand holes and plug so it must be built in then. ?

I have had some bangers in my years but never one where you drained the sills.

I am sure this has been discussed to death Pardon the nebie bringing it up again.

Oh my dipstick came earlier lol

    Johnny M

  11. Yea I have got more questions, I

I am trying to get my A5 Sportsback 1800T servicing up to date

    New to me   2015 50k

Checked 4 years service records Engine oil changed March 23

No sign of Gearbox oil being changed.

Its now 50K and 8 years old this seems to be in the required range for a change ?

Also water out of the sill ok its discussed but where does it get in ?

I am shown how to drain it, But should any be in there to start with ?

Where is the hole or is this hole designed in.

Is there a memo from Audi to prevent it ?

Water in metal sills is this a good idea or am i missing something in my old age. ( seems likely)

    Johnny M

  12. Hi Steve,

    Thanks for the come back

Well I have been doing a bit more reading on my latest purchase A5.

Its seems you just top up with what amount it tells you to.

So i think the dip stick High/Low marks seem as out of date as myself.

I have taken the windscreen Plastic cover off

LOTs of leaves  lots of just black rotten slimy old leaves.

The drain of rubber was part blocked off all clean now.

But I could only find ONE drain off rubber ?

I thank you for your time.

    Us youngsters  need it

  13. Hi.

Old fashioned guy here I admit.

    New to  Audi

I would just like to use a dipstick to check oil level

I am not into just a  sigh on my screen.

I have used one for 50+ years I am quite lonely without one

Is there a source ? One known to be accurate

    Johnny M

  14. Hi Steve.

    Yes I understand .

I did have to replace a pair on a Camry I had I just traded it in

    last week for the A5.

I had it from new in 1996 till last week lol  127k on it.

They seemed to be ok .

The A5 is still very new to me.

I wish it had a handbrake lol,

I think its best I take a damper off and see it its tired.

Nice to have this place to help me out.

I am for sure a Newbie with the A5

Take care thanks for the assistance

    Johnny M

  15. Hi Steve.

    Thanks for the reply.

The existing ones seem to hold the long boot up once its

    part lifted manually.

I just got this A5 on friday. its a 15 plate with 50k on the clock.

    mint condition.

Reading all the problems quoted on here I am getting nervous. lol.

If I replace them I may go for the spring loaded in any case .

I will keep the forum up to date as I go
