Ow that's naughty, as I thought software updates are FOC and classed on the system as a recall. Or they used to be when I worked at Volkswagen

On previous cars I never paid a diagnostic fee either it was always waived! However this time they charged 2 fees with the 2nd discounted (I was told 2 issues were looked at so 2 fees). I wasn't impressed. I tried arguing it but to no luck.

I questioned it and was told Audi charge the dealership for software updates so take it or leave it. Even when I said its a known issue and should have been sorted by the previous owner under the Audi Warranty.

£1600 worth of fees and items needing to be fixed (luckily third party warranty is covering most of the items).

I am selling the Audi once its fixed...

    Hello Harry,

I’m not going to pre-guess any possible cause, but my opinion - for what it’s worth - is that any connection with adding Redex is more likely to be coincidental, as would be a restricted fuel filter.
If it were mine, I would be booking the car in for a diagnostic check with a trusted local independent - rather than a main dealer. You can then hopefully talk directly with a technician - and come away without frightening your wallet!
    Kind regards,

    Gareth.

Okay thanks it’s booked in with Audi for another issue which the independent cannnot do as it’s a software update so ill just get them to look at it then.

if it’s something expensive I’ll then go back to the independent for the work

    Hello Harry,

Sorry to hear of your issue:-

    (1) I too would be very surprised if the car doesn’t have a fuel filter.

    (2) I would be equally surprised if a fuel filter on a 19k petrol engined car would need changing, or would be the primary cause of the warning you are having.

    Hello Jason,

I have just re-read your post of the 23rd Feb. in response to Stevey Y’s post:-

In a simple one sentence retort - what the heck are you on about Jason?
    Kind regards,

    Gareth.

    Hi Gareth

I have asked Audi if it does have a fuel filter and awaiting a response

Would you have any ideas of what could be causing this issue as only seems to be so far when adding redex roughly 2 weeks after.

  4. I have a 2020 plate Audi A1 35 TFSI, on 2 occasions since purchasing the car I have put Redex into the fuel tank. Each time roughly 2 weeks after doing this a Drive System error comes up on the dashboard. I plug in the reader and it comes up with PO148 fuel delivery error.

Error only comes up on the first engine start of the day.

It seems to clear after a drive on the Motorway although not 100% sure on this or whether I accidently press to clear the code on the reader. The first time it did it, the error didn't return until roughly 2 weeks after adding redex about a month later.

Anyone had this before and what I need to do? Cars going into Audi in march for another issue so will get them to check then but the drive system error isn't showing up at the moment

Did you ever find a fix for this as I have the same problem from new? (69 plate)
Audi say there is no update listed for my car, but if I did want to bring it in there would be a £195 diagnostic charge with no guarantee of a fix.

The car is booked in with Audi end of March so will see what they say. Which Audi garage did you go to?

I had the battery tested by a national garage and was told there was nothing wrong with it so I am really hoping its software and its an easy fix.

I did find a webpage where Skoda (same group) published a technical product information on 4th July 2019 for a fix to the issue (or atleast a similar issue). https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/454968-mileage-computer-resets/ Not sure if you can go to Audi with this?

Edit - £199 seems alot, I was quoted £99 diagnostic fee

    Hello Harry,

Well it’s always cheapest option first in my book. Although it would be expected that any 4 year old battery would be completely serviceable, but if our daughter’s just out of new warranty, non-Audi, is anything to go by, then you never know.

If it were mine Harry, I would be nipping along to a Halfords store and getting the battery’s efficiency tested. This test would give you a meaningful serviceable/ non serviceable point to progress from.

    Kind regards,

    Gareth.

Thanks I think I will do this on Monday 👍

  7. I purchased an Audi A1 2020 plate back in November and over the last month the clock and the mileage counter has reset to 0:00 and 0 twice. This was mainly after not using the car for a few days although doesn't seem to always do it after its not been used for a few days.

Ive googled online and some say there was a software update in 2021 (on a US site) and some say battery issue and to change the battery.

Anyone had this issue before and able to shed some light please?

If its a replacement battery thats needed I would rather not have to book into Audi and instead use somewhere like Halfords home fitting but if its software id rather not waste money on a new battery...
