So I have just bought an A1 1.6tdi 2014 for my daughter. When shutting the engine off sometimes theres a burning smell and the fan runs fir a minute or so. ( temp gauge always says 90 °. I assumed it was the dpf doi g its thing so I've downloaded vag dpf and got the following. Could anyone explain the figures to me and let me know if I'm doomed ?
Oh the car has no fault codes and drives lovely.

I have a 2014 a1 1.6tdi suffering coolant loss. It's also smoking sometimes quite alot ( clouds in rear veiw mirror ) drives fine and starts perfect.
Am I right in thinking this is probably the egr cooler? Do these suffer from head gasket problems ? What tests can I do to rule out one or the other on the 1.6tdi.
I'm hoping it's the cooler leaking coolant into the intake or exhaust.
Car has done about 70k
Thanks

I had a similar problem on our a5 and bought a sump plug valve.
http://www.stahlbus.com/products/en/oil-drain-valve/index.php
we fitted this with threadlock to seal any leak, this cured the problem and the plug will never need to be removed again, also makes for easy oil changes in the future.

Thanks put new struts on but i made a mistake of using Vaseline on the ball/socket it just causes them to pop off they need to be fitted dry
opens slowly and gently but still slams on closing struts are fitted shiny bit on bottom
Watched a later model earlier in a supermarket car park it didn't appear to slam shut ?
Are you sure they are the correct struts?

You may not have the bt module installed in your car, it can be retrofited. If you turn the ignition on and then look for bluetooth devices with your phone. If you cannot see the audi then you dont have bt module
That’s not quite true, a lot of Audi’s have accessories like Bluetooth fitted but not turned on unless it’s paid for. Recently in my wife’s A5 cab I activated Bluetooth hands free and voice control for sat nav etc that was already there.

Armrest is pretty easy. Took me about half an hour. You have to cut a hole in the center to take the bracket.
Its not a great design though as it fowls the handbrake

Have you tried the a8partsforum it seemscto be more active with a8 and s8 owners

I would deffinately say get a new battery first. Newer cars computers like good voltage or they shut certain modules down to save power

Hi there I have an Audi A3 tdi 04 plate and today the ignition cylinder barrel seems to have given up. My key will not turn the car on,
I have taken the car to the garage, however it is now shut so need to wait until Monday to see if they can fix and obtain a quote, however I was hoping that someone might be able to give me some advise, when I change the cylinder barrel will I have to also replace my keys too?
I would really appreciate any advise
thank you
My Dad had an auto locksmith out to his lexus with similar and he stripped the barrel and rebuilt it for about £60

You may well be right Gareth, as I don't know any details of the circuitry to be certain; but logically it would be a pretty poor design of lamp test if it could be negated by a faulty switch. I've looked in my Haynes manual and it says nothing can be done to the instrument panel and the whole thing has to be replaced if faulty. The circuit diagram is equally unhelpful, but then I am no electrician. It does show the cluster connected to the CAN bus, which to my mind suggests computer control rather than hard-wired.
A scan with vcds should show whats wrong if you test outputs. I purchased OBDeleven recently, this does similar to vcds but os only 45 quid.

I wanna know about this also
Mine is now completed. Cruise and dis stalks and also fitted control buttons to the steering wheel then coded with OBDeleven 😊 its nice not having a blank screen in the center now.
Im struggling coding the dash to display outside temperature though.

Today I have fitted a mfsw and new wiper stalk with dis, after many hours coding ( first day with obdeleven ) I have them working 😁
Now i I would like the temperature display on dash, please can you help ? The car has a sensor because I can get it in live readings but can't code to display it. I have tried google with no luck.

So I've done lots of research but I am getting different information. My A3 is a 2009 facelift 2.0tdi dsg. I want to add cruise and dis. I don't have any buttons on steering wheel but have the white computer screen and a washer bottle warning.
Please can can anyone confirm if I need to change the steering ecu or if the one I have will support the cruise with coding obviously.
thanks
