    All sorted, it was indeed two unrelated issues - faulty thermostat responsible for the low engine temperature, and a coil pack causing the engine to misfire and triggering the engine light. The condensation seems to be due to all the short journeys, and probably exacerbated by the thermostat fault, will flush and change the oil soon.
