  1. I've literally just had a reply from my ticket raised with Audi.

    They are unbelievable...

Thank you for contacting Audi UK regarding your vehicle's DAB. I am sorry for the delay in my response.

Please be advised that DAB is being phased out. This is a decision of the radio stations under Bauer Media Audio UK and not a problem with the vehicle. Bauer Media Audio UK stations such as Absolute Radio, KISS, KISSTORY, and Magic Radio switched to DAB+ on March 31, 2025, meaning their DAB signals were turned off. This has nothing to do with the vehicle and everything to do with Bauer Media Audio UK and their own decision to change how they broadcast.

I can appreciate that this is not the response you had hoped for, and I am sorry for any inconvenience.

I think in order to understand what has been going on, we must accept that this hasn’t been a DAB+ issue. As I had previously thought and now proved by an above member who has contacted Global Radio, Radio X for one, has been DAB+ for years. Also, it would be rather a coincidence for all stations, from different media companies, Global, Bauer etc to have swapped to DAB+ on the same date, this problem has affected ALL stations broadcasting on D1 & SDL. I’ve little understanding of it all further to this but would be very interested if we ever get to the bottom of what has been happening to stop our MMI systems picking up these signals.

So why would it only affect A1, A6 and Q3 that all have H61 of the RMC MMI?

  3. So RMC engineers that engineered the HW61 version of the MMI have installed a chipset that does not have the same capabilities as the older HW54 version. Since that is what my brother has installed in his A6 2013.

Someone has to be held accountable because our vehicles were sold as DAB+ capable.

Audi and whoever made the RMC MMI have to sort this out. Surely?

As far as I know there is no sensible limit to the number of posts per topic.

Realistically, until somebody discovers and posts a solution to the problem all one can do is add "me too" posts to increase the weight of evidence against Audi, and therefore is worthwhile even if there is no response.

It seems to me, as somebody who is unaffected by the problem, that Audi, as the vendor of the affected equipment, has responsibilty for its faults no matter which subcontractor made the radio for them. That is my interpretation of the Sale Of Goods Act 1979, and its successor the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

The solution is, all RMC HW H61 needs to be :-

    1. Firmware updated to enable DAB+ decoding

    2. H61 swapped for a DAB+ working version.

The vehicles affected were sold as DAB+ ready.

It is 100% HW61 of the RMC MMI that is the issue.

  5. Just to remind you all.

All of us have the exact same MMI

    That being RMC HW H61.

That MMI was only installed in A1, A6 and Q3 between 2015 and 2018.

It angers me when I read that Audi are telling us that the vehicle is not the issue and it is Bauer media. Let's not forget that Global also switched, so it isn't just Bauer media.

DAB+ is DAB+. The issue isn't Bauer or global using the wrong DAB+.

The issue is 100% Audi. They have either installed and programmed the chipset incorrectly or they have missed something when it came to adding the mpeg4 audio codec to allow is to listen to the DAB+ frequency.

Audi also have it documented that out RMC MMI is DAB+.

There are earlier models of our vehicles that have RMC MMI installed but that HW version is earlier than HW61.

HW61 should be recalled and corrected to match how it was marketed, that it is DAB+

  6. I've just been on a web chat with Audi UK customer services.

They are being instructed by management to tell customers that the vehicle has no issues and it's all down to Bauer media switching from dab to dab+

I explained that our RMC H61 MMI units are supposed to be DAB+.

She has no idea but has raised a ticket for me for technical to have a look at.

We are being deliberately fobbed off by Audi customer services

  7. So..... Audi have advertised and sold these affected motors as dab+ supported.

Therefore it is either going to be a software fix.

Or.... They have skimped and installed a chip that would never be dab+.

Legally, where do we all stand?

The reputation of Audi could suffer here. I'm already thinking I should have gone BMW...

If they have skimped and lied. What else are they capable of trying to cover up and skimp on?

Let's hope it's just a software oversight and will be sorted.  (Fingers crossed)

  8. If you were to ask Audi directly.  Is my RMC MMI radio DAB+. The answer would be yes.

The issue appears to be head units RMC HW H61.

My brother has an A6 Avant. Same car as mine, but his is 2013. He has no issues with his radio. His unit is RMC HW H50 something.

The Audi representative that has suggested that we buy dab+ compatible radio needs sacking.

Ask this person to suggest a stereo because the ones we all currently have are supposed to be DAB+. Have a look in your booklet in the black folder. It specifically states DAB+.

    We are being fobbed off.

Thanks - this at explains what has happened. How do we get the update or codec ? Can we download?

Unfortunately, there is no fix at present and there is no confirmation that there will be.

It is also likely that we will also lose the remaining DAB station once they switch to DAB+. BBC are eventually going to switch to DAB+.

All we can do for now is manage with FM or BT to your phone and open a dab radio station app or Spotify etc

  10. Hi All,

My 2015 A6 avant and my partner 2016 A1 avant have the same issue.

I have done a bit more research into this and have even updated the firmware on both cars to RMC_EU_P16342 from RMC_EU_14321 on the A6 and RMC_EU_P1432B on the A1.

Both units are also Hard Ware H61

My brother has a 2013 A6 avant and he has no issues at all, this does appear to be Audi vehicles that have the RMC MMI and I suspect it is going to be HW H61 specifically affected.

I haven't checked my brothers yet, but his RMC MMI is definitely an older HW version than H61.

I have been emailing a German company KUFATEC and they have responded back to me that their information held is that all RMC units have DAB+.

I suspect that this is going to be a codec software issue needed to enable our units to encode the MPEG-4 High Efficiency AAC v2 profile (HE-AAC v2)

The A1 and A6 MMI manual both state that DAB+ is supported.
