I’ve now received confirmation that my vehicle rejection has been accepted, and I’m currently awaiting further details on the next steps.
As we purchased the car outright, it’ll be interesting to see how this progresses and what the final resolution looks like.
For context, the car is a Q5 Edition 1 TDI in Daytona Grey, with panoramic roof, air suspension, and a 5-year Audi warranty. We secured it with a very strong discount at the time of purchase.
Depending on how things are valued during the process, it may make more sense to sell it privately.
It’s also worth noting the car has had:
-
Stage 1 paint correction
-
Ceramic coating
-
Front and rear dash cams professionally installed
-
Private registration plate
I’ll update the thread once I know more.

Hi all, I have joined you all as I am really not sure what to do about my totally faulty 2025 SQ5
It has had drive train faults
Air suspension fault, not fixed by software update but needed replacing
Cameras not working so front collision detection off, high beam assist off etc
Now it's back in Audi with Hold brake fault. This was a red stop the car and don't drive message.
The dealership can't match the fault codes that the VW breakdown guy logged and said it needed new brake servo unit. They are testing now but are happy to let me have it back with this safety fault. Any ideas what to do? The bar is set so low by Audi they don't feel these faults are worrying.
I promise I will reply to anyone who answers me.
Template letter if required
I am writing to formally reject my vehicle under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Vehicle details
• Make/Model: Audi
• Registration:
• Purchase date:
• Purchase method:
• Current mileage: approximatelySince delivery, the vehicle has suffered from an engine management fault, evidenced by warning lights illuminating on the dashboard. This fault has caused serious concern regarding the vehicle’s reliability, safety, and the risk of consequential engine damage.
I first reported this issue to ……………and the vehicle attended the workshop on ………list all………..for investigation and repair. Despite this attempted repair, the fault has not been resolved.
I have since been informed that the vehicle is now booked in again for further investigation on …………date……….. Given that this fault was first reported in …………date ………… and remains unresolved several months later, I do not consider this to be a reasonable or acceptable timeframe for resolution.
I am also aware that this same fault is widely reported by other 2025 Audi Q5 owners across multiple independent automotive forums and owner groups, indicating that this is likely an inherent or systemic defect, rather than an isolated issue affecting my vehicle alone.
As this fault has arisen well within the first six months of ownership, it is legally presumed to have been present at the time of supply. In light of the failed repair attempt, the prolonged delay, and the ongoing nature of the defect, the vehicle is not of satisfactory quality and does not meet the requirements of Sections 9, 19, and 24 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
I am therefore exercising my final right to reject the vehicle and request a full refund, including any associated fees, in accordance with my statutory rights.
Please also note that while displaying engine management warning lights, the vehicle would fail an MOT inspection, and I am unwilling to continue using a vehicle in this condition or consent to further repair attempts.
Please provide written confirmation within 14 days of:
-
Acceptance of this rejection
-
Arrangements for the return of the vehicle
-
Timescales for full reimbursement
Please ensure that all future correspondence is conducted in writing.

Collected my 2025 Audi Q5 TDI from Leeds Audi at 16:00 today after they’d had the car for three days.
Unfortunately, by the time I got home the Engine Management Light had returned. I’ve also now lost voice activation and the head-up display navigation.
So for anyone wondering, KD2 has not resolved the engine management light issue on my car.
It’s going straight back to the dealer again tomorrow morning. Pretty disappointing after three days in the workshop.

Previously owned an A4 TDI 177 Quattro Black Edition for over 12 years — hands down the best car we’ve ever had. Economical, quick enough, and this was a brand-new model at the time.
It needed a couple of updates over the years but was never an inconvenience. Our local garage/MOT station actually bought the car from us, and the only fault code present at the time of sale was something related to the radio.
He still has the car and uses it regularly, which says a lot. That’s exactly why we chose to buy another Audi.

I completely agree. These vehicles should be categorised in a similar manner to accident-damaged vehicles. Such a classification would help ensure that new models entering the market are genuinely fit for purpose, or that manufacturers bear the financial consequences of shortcomings rather than transferring that risk to consumers.
In our case, this purchase was intended as a retirement gift. We deliberately chose to buy new and paid a premium for a so-called premium brand on the assumption that reliability and quality would be assured. Unfortunately, that expectation has not been met.
Given that my wife is undergoing cancer treatment, reliability was not a luxury but a necessity. At present, we are relying on alternatives such as Uber, which is far from what we anticipated when making a significant investment of £68,000.

Q5 went to start earlier today. Dash lit up with numerous error messages, then the car shut down completely. All doors and the tailgate locked themselves; only the rear passenger door would open.
Audi Assist was called. On arrival they tested several possibilities. As a last resort, they carried out a 12-volt battery reset by disconnecting both the positive and negative terminals and leaving them off for 10 minutes. After reconnecting, a jump pack wasn’t suitable, so booster cables were used to start the car.
Once running, diagnostics were attempted, but the vehicle requires an Audi access code to allow the diagnostic tablet to connect to the car. When access was finally gained, the system showed 124 error codes.
Worth flagging to anyone considering buying these vehicles later in life: access to diagnostics can be restricted without Audi authorisation.

Car purchased May 2025, numerous faults illuminated on dash Engine management ligh, hill hold assist. Car would only run on battery the other day until it cut out. 10 minutes standing turning off - on engine fired. Alarm goes off at random. Vehicle speeds up when in adaptive cruise when traffic is slowing. Burns excessive oil. Asked uk Audi to respond to Engine management light but they refused. Many owners with similar problems are using consumer act 2015 to return vehicles. I’ve given my formal rejection notice to reject the car.
New shape SQ5 beset with many problems..anyone else had any?

Audi uk are a waste of time, I ended dealing with the ceo department and they could not even answer simple questions. Just fob you off. Good luck
