Hi Jordan
That's tough luck...been there before with Land Rover regulators that I rebuilt with cheap rebuild kits (cables, etc) but generally when you fit a complete assembly they are usually pretty reliable.
It looks as though the routing is fine and the tension on the glass generally would make it run a bit slower but shouldn't break the cable. Maybe use Vaseline on the edges of the glass where it contacts the runner...tends to work.
I would probably take it back to the suppliers and demand a new one
Let us know how you get on with it

Hi Trevor,
Thanks for your reply!
Yes - rubbish luck.. all I seem to have haha!
im looking to get a motor and regulator from a breakers yard (or a breakers section on here, although havent found it yet).
I think I am going to spend a bit more time making sure the glass is sliding nicely up and down (will blow an air line through the channels etc and grease as you said) and the clips that secure the window to the regulator are in the correct place.
I will update this post with how I get on, when I eventually get the part.
Thanks again,
Jordan

Hi guys,
Newbie post so please bare with me in case I miss anything.. :)
I have a 2004 (54) A3 2.0 BKD.
The other day I went to put the drivers window UP and I heard a horrible snapping noise, after taking the door apart I could see that one of the cables going into the mechanism driven by the motor had snapped and as a consequence, the cabling around the mechanism (driven by the motor) was twisted etc.
Now, they annoying part...
I got a brand new window regulator from Euro (at the cost of £55 @ trade price) and proceeded to fit the item after taking the door apart AGAIN, making sure the part was fitted exactly how the original was! Put it all back together again, moved the window up and then down and BOOM..Snpapped again, at the exact same point.
Has anyone ever heard of a similar issue?
The motor seems fine as far as I can tell (having plugged the window switches in and tested it; the motor spins freely but does not stop unless you let your finger off the button - I presume the motor hits the resistance and stops when the window is fully down/up)
Just want to get an idea of what I am up against here before shelling out any more money (for it to just do the same thing).
PS: The window does slide up and down in the runners but is a little tough (I have to use both hands either side of the glass).
I have attached a few photos that I have. The yellow coated regulator wires are part of the new regulator, the old one is pictured on the floor)
Thanks in advance :)
