Very helpful information Steve Q

LOTUSSEVEN I would probably consider more frequent fluid changes for engine, transmission and associated drivetrain components if towing for substantial periods of time.

If your car was an automatic transmission I would recommend fitting a larger capacity oil cooler to avoid overheating the trans.

Thanks Trevor, It's a manual, but great feedback from yourself....Thx

Hi there, what type of towbar are you thinking of fitting?

    Fixed or detachable?

I believe the b7 can tow:

    unbraked trailer of 750kg

    braked trailer of 1900kg

i also believe the b7 kerb weight is between 1510kg and 1535kg.

i hope iv been some help.

    Cheers

    Steve

Thanks Steve, That's very good information back from you, very much appreciated.

I'm thinking of getting a detachable Tow bar fitted, (because it can be removed, looks nicer etc)

We are thinking of getting a 4 berth carvan, so nothing too big, and once we have driven it to Cornwall, we are leaving the caravan onsite for the year etc, rather than dragging it up and down the M5.

    Thanks Dave

  3. Hi Folks,

Might be thinking of getting a tow bar fitted onto the Audi, Since I've got the 3.0TDI Manual model, does anyone have any advice, upon towing trailers, caravans etc.

Since it's a Quattro is there anything I should be aware of.

The end goal is to tow a caravan, for the odd trip to Cornwall.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Good Folks,

Has anyone got advice upon what options are open to me, for a very small leak on my softtop.

I noticed it a couple of weeks ago, whilst in my local handwash car wash, whilst they was using a jet spray.

And today, whilst is was pouring down, I noticed a very small drip.

Hence the request for clues, or advice.

    Thanks in advance.

The leak comes in where the arrow point to.

    Hi Dave

Are they aftermarket or manufacturer fitted?

have you cleaned all the dirt off them?

    Regards

    Bradley

    Hi Bradley,

They are manufactured fitted, and yes thanks I've cleaned them, They just work when they want to lol...as if a mind of their own.

  6. Hi Folks,

Looking for any possible tips, advice upon the A4 Rear reversing sensors that seem to have a mind of their own.
Sometimes they will work, and sometimes they don’t, I just get a long error bleep from the cars warning system.
Anyone else had this issue ?

  7. Hi all,

With the cold snap of weather we are getting this week in the UK, I thought I'd upgrade my mirrors, can somebody please confirm that it's

just a job of replacing the actual mirrors with  heated mirrors ? I understand that the wiring is installed as standard, and via switching on the rear window demister it would then start to heat up the door mirrors, is this the case?

    I've got a 2009 A4 3.0 tdi convertible

Any heated mirror part numbers would be gratefully received....Thx

I've attached an image of my drivers side mirror,  I spoke to my local Audi Dealer this morning, he confirmed because my car is a 2010 59 plate, that the car is a B8 Model, Could anyone confirm, via looking at the picture if it's a B8 or B7 Mirror ?

I just want to be 100% Sure of getting the right mirror replacements Thanks

Resolved the issue via, Purchasing 2 new Mirrors from www.micksgarage.com  for a grand total of £34.18 including postage ;-)

Part numbers 5442884 = Right hand side, 5447107 = Left hand Side.

I purchased two new heated mirrors, which fit just perfectly, and of course simply plugged the two wire into the terminals on the back of the mirrors.

I honestly can't understand as to why Audi would goto the trouble of installing the wiring for heated mirrors, without actually then fitting the heated mirrors, but anyway issue now resolved, and of course they are heated up via turning on the rear window heater.

First picture is of the old standard mirror, note the blank terminals.!

  8. Many thanks Trevor, After look at all of the stats, I do feel like it may well be a diesel version, It's just a matter of waiting for a low mileage one, with full sat nav, and heated seats in the right color to come along now, but Im not in no mad rush, good things do come to those that wait lol.

The A5 Convertible looks an ok option as well, having driven one, I was most impressed, however my personal choice is the A4 Looks much better.

    Cheers Dave

  9. Hi there,

I'm new to the group, and hoping to get some advice up which models to choose from.

I'm looking towards getting an A4 Convertible, my budget is only £10500, so I'll be look at an 09 or 08 Reg Car.

2.0 Ltr engine wise, Petrol, or Diesel, It must have SAT NAV and Heated seats, I've seen a rare few of the final editions with heated seats, but they are few and far between.

Sorry for asking such a silly question, but what are the paddle versions like ?  for reliability should I look for a manual ?

    Any advice welcome.

    Thanks in advance.
