  1. Hello guys! Got some problems with my 2.0 TDI 170hp, it sometimes has no power, especially after I start it. If I press and depress the accelerator pedal several times, it usually gets to have some power, but far from all of it. The only way which seems to get it to normal is to leave the car idle for 10-15 minutes or drive it at about 1000-1200 rpm for a few miles. Then it's good, it pulls like crazy. I got new fuel filter and new turbo. The car throws no codes, no check engine or other lights, it just stalls. I would like to replace the N75 valve too, just to be sure, but I can't find it. Does anyone know where it's located on this engine? And maybe could someone help with an OEM part code?

  2. Hello guys, I have this problem with my car since I bought it. It doesn't pull like it should (it got a little better by replacing the fuel filter but it's far from 170hp) and in high rpm's (around 3500-3700) with the pedal to the floor it has a stutter, like it's running out of fuel (the fuel is not the problem, tried every petrol station in my area and I the level is always above half). There are two errors that keep appearing:

Injector values seem to be good at idle (all of them between +/- 0.10mg/str), the car starts fine, idles fine, no smoke coming out so I don't know what to think. Did anyone have a similar problem?

  3. Hello, Paul! The oil pressure light may be indicating a bad oil pump (probably the famous shaft if it's a 2.0 TDI). When you see the light you are supposed to stop the engine immediately and not start it again until you see a mechanic. What you have done may have damaged the turbo as it is the first part to go bad from low oil pressure...

  4. Hello guys, I read somewhere that quattro cars have the fuel tank split by the drive shaft and they have some leveling system that keeps the same amount of fuel in both sides. I'm asking this because my car seems to run good only when the fuel level is above half a tank and I think it may have something to do with this leveling thing...is there a pump in the tank doing this job or how does it work more precisely?

  5. Had the time to do some checks in the weekend...I took a friend with me and took the car for a spin with the vag com connected in order to check the turbo pressure. It is very good, there are only a few milibars of difference between how it is and how it should be, checked from idle to 4500 rpm. So I guess that the turbo, pipes, vacuum lines and intercoolers are out, since there is no over or underboost. I will replace the fuel filter tomorrow, hope for the best!

  6. I understand...will take a look to the turbo too when i'll check the car next week as it shouldn't take me too much time. Thank you for your help! 👍

Also, a friend that had a similar problem (it think it's more or less the same from what he described) suggested me to check all the vacuum lines including the vacuum tank. Does anyone know where this tank is located? And maybe how much vacuum hose I would need and what the proper diameter is?

  7. Hello, I didn't have time to order and replace the hoses but noticed a new thing when taking the car for a spin today. When the "power loss" occurs, the accelerator pedal feels more laggish (I press it and for the first 1-2 centimetres nothing happens, I press it deeper and it doesn't accelerate immediately), I think that this might help in diagnosing the problem. What is confusing as hell is the absence of fault codes...

  8.   Hello Steve, thank you for your answer! The car has 260 000 km (not miles :D) on the clock but the turbo was replaced 10 000 km ago with a professionally refurbished one. I know that this doesn't mean that it couldn't be the turbo (mistakes are human), but sometimes (like the last three days) it pulls like a crazy. That's why I excluded it.

My next move is to try and replace all the little vacuum hoses as they don't cost a fortune and are known to cause problems that are similar to mine, so I would be grateful if someone could help me with some dimensions (i can't find them anywhere). Thanks!

  9. Hello guys, I'm seeing that my 2.0 170HP quattro doesn't always "pull" like it should. There are days when it runs sweet and really feels like 170hp and days when it seems to be losing some power with no reason. No check engine or other lights and no errors show up. I don't have any good mechanics in my area so I was hoping that you could help me try to diagnose the problem myself...Thanks in advance!

  10. Hello guys, I have a problem with my 2.0 170hp quattro. I did a couple of hard launches on friday night dumping the clutch (it's my first quattro car and I didn't know that the clutch shouldn't be dumped on these) and on the last it slipped as hell in first and second gear around 4000 rpm. I drove it nicely since then but yesterday I noticed that the clutch was slipping a little bit only if I floored it in first gear, other gears work fine. Should I prepare for a new clutch?

  11. Hello guys, since I bought my a4 I have noticed that the brake pedal is spongy and I have to press it almost on the floor in order for the car to brake. I would like to sort this out in the shortest possible time since there are the brakes we're talking about here...Reading on the internet I found out that it may be the master cylinder on the brake pedal but i would like to know if I should buy the black circular tank where the cylinder is installed also. I'm asking this because I don't want to be ripped off by the mechanics in my area, also I have some experience with brake jobs so I'm considering replacing it myself. Thank you in advance!!
