Hi Keith....welcome to the Forum
I suppose you have two choices, if it is running okay then stick to the Weber carb (they were a great conversion at the time) or put it back to what I seem to remember was the Pierburg fitted as standard...which wasn't a good carb...too many vacuum connections to get it through emissions, autochoke, etc.
Let us know how it all progresses....will bring back memories of carburettor woes :-)
Cheers, Trevor
Hi Trevor,
i have located a local automobile mechanic and tuning guru who is going to set the carb up as it should be. We have noticed that a vacuum pipe to the distributor is coming from the wrong place !!! The tune up will take place next Friday so will let you know the final results.
Cheers, Keith.

Hi I have never used a foroum before so please bear with me.
I bought this car just over a month ago with 47,000 miles on the clock. Very good condition for the year.
The slight problem I have is the vacuum pipe lay out after the conversion to Weber 32/34 DMTL Part Number 2267091100.
After discovering that the short vacuum pipe had a hole and obtaining a new genuine replacement which improved things no end and adjusting the idle screw it runs so much better now. There seems to be pipes blanked off and the vacuum reservoir has no pipes connected whatsoever !! Also the manual choke cable has been located in the passenger glove box !! Not an ideal position so I would like to move it to be near the steering column . Any help on these queries would be most grateful.

Hi all , have had carburettor set up with the correct vacuum pipe fitted to the distributor and trimming checked , which was spot on.
Certaiinley runs better now. All I have to do now is locate the choke cable in a sensible place ( not in the glove box ). Looks like I shall locate it next to the Fader Control for radio, there is a grommet in the engine which looks an ideal entry point.
When I take the air filter of the carburettor there is a convoluted wire re-enforced tube which goes to the exhaust manifold ,where can I get some more ( no doubt it might collapse or get damaged ) as local Audi agents not interested as the car is of no interest to them. Would Euro Car Parts be useful or is there a company who specialises in older Audi’s .
Waiting in anticipation,
Keith.
