I bought this, and am happy with it. It has a small thin metal disc that fits between my phone and case, the magnet is very very strong, and holds my Huawei P9 great with zero vibration or movement.
I'll take a pic of where I positioned the mount, as it ended up living on top of the left central vent.

One of the things I'm thinking of doing to my A3, is vinyl wrapping interior panels.
Been looking online for 'how to' guides on how to remove panels (found a russian video on how to take the front door panel/trim off etc), but I'm wondering if anyone has any links for pages/guides.
Basically what I want to do, is carbon fibre wrap some of the interior panels, and then put tinted film on the rear windows.
Any advice/help would be great, or if this has been asked/answered before, can you point me in the thread direction?
Cheers gang.
Andy.

Ok, can someone confirm that my A3 being a '13' plate is classed as an "8V"?
Also, there are a couple of small scuffs by the boot (will try putting a pic on here). Has anyone used the carbon fibre vinyl sheets you can buy off eBay etc? Are they easy to use? Can I just cover the scuffs, or can I get a touch up / turtle wax repair kit that will work?
Cheers gang.

Hello all, just a quick introduction to say hello.
I took delivery of a 13 plate A3 1.6 Tdi SE, earlier this week. Fair to say, I think I've fallen in love with a car :D
Have always loved the shape and size of the A3 when I've seen them (like a cross between a large hatchback and a small estate), and when I had the chance to own one, I jumped at it.
So far, I am still getting to grips with all the tech in it. I've sorted out blue-tooth, tweaked the interior to how I want it to look (geeky 40yr old man-child at heart), and am in the process of debating on what dash-cam I want to get.
I've a very comprehensive AA cover, and a friend in the Motor Mechanic trade, so I should be ok if the worst case scenario happens.
The only thing that was missing from the car, was the Sat-Nav had never been activated. I think I read that it would cost a decent chunk to get a dealership to sort that... so the trusty google maps on my phone will suffice.
I will upload decent pictures when I take them (love the weather here in Swansea... always ruddy wet), and look forward to being an active member of the forum.

been on for maybe 5 days or so. it's sturdy, doesnt wobble at all.
to make it 'sit' on the curve of the vent, i cut one of the 3m supplied sticky pads (they supply 4 or 5 i think), into 3rds. i put a 3rd on either side of the pad on the base (leaving a gap in the middle), and then when i stuck the base to the vent, it had a decent amount of surface area to contact with, if that makes sense.
i positioned it there, as it is within arms reach to be able to use the touch screen, and doesnt obstruct my eyeline. i suppose you could put it behind the MMI screen, as when that is lowered there is an acre of space there, but, i am happy with where i put it
