  1. I fitted a Nextbase camera and a Road Angel speed camera detector, each separately hard wired with the Nextbase hardwire kits which I bought separately. Took me half an hour or so to route the wire from the driver's side fusebox to both locations above the windscreen, and hide the cable behind trims etc. Took me more time to find a suitable earth point than identifying suitable fuses to piggyback from. All sorted in record time, but make sure you take the feed from the driver's side, as the passenger side fusebox doesn't seem to have switched supplies. I would say that it was a lot easier on the A6 that it was on my wife's Mini :-)
  2. I've fitted the same S-Line lights to my front doors and I love them. I did also buy the Audi rings version and was going to fit them to the back doors, but found that the back doors do not have puddle lights. There are recesses in the underside of the door card where they would normally fit, but no lights or holes. I'm wondering if there is any way of cutting out the holes and finding some wires inside to connect to, but haven't taken it any further yet. Chris
  3. My June 2017 UK spec A6 Avant does exactly what is shown in the video above. Unlock all doors and mirror folding all available from the menus. Seems that perhaps this wasn't an option on some 2016 cars ?
  4. The technician visited me today - great guy - very helpful. His diagnosis confirmed mine, and it requires a new glowplug / sensor. Problem is my car is very new, and Audi has upgraded this part recently, so they didn't have one available today. However they've confirmed it will be coming in over the weekend and he will re-visit me to fit it on Monday. In the meantime he has cleared the MIL & confirmed the car is fine to drive as it was only an intermittent problem. Had lots of discussion about the car (and my previous Phaeton & Passat W8) and he advised a couple of things. First was to top up the Adblue every 3,000 miles or so. He said there had been issues when the tank runs low, so best keep it above half if possible. Also said my experience of Audi service dealers being booked up for months ahead is fairly typical now, so book well ahead of time. He's not aware of any particular issues with using cheap supermarket fuel, but a tank of the good stuff every few months can only be good for it. Our octane rating here in the U.K. is the lowest in Europe. German cars are designed for better fuel - equivalent to our 'Premium' in octane. There are lobbies to get the government to legislate a minimum octane rating from suppliers (i.e it has to be at this level or above) to enable engines to run more efficiently and cut down emissions. He told me the battery is under the spare wheel in the boot as I didn't know where it was. Also told me of issues with stones getting between the brake calliper / disc high has required a slight redesign of the components. This is a common problem for him to deal with. Just be careful when driving over gravel or loose surfaces - especially the loose chippings from local authority road resurfacing. I feel much better today about my car, and look forward to the new glow plug being fitted on Monday so I can get back to normal trouble free motoring. Chris
  5. Hi Steve, Audi assist is now coming to my work tomorrow to try to solve the problem. Crossing my fingers as I really don't want to lose my car for any length of time. I'm hoping my car won't need an emissions recall as I only bought it brand new in June. I'll keep you posted once Audi have looked at the car. Cheers Chris
  6. Just driving home this evening in my June-registered A6 Avant, and the MIL came on. Tried phoning my local dealer to take it in for a scan to be told the earliest they can do is 10th October !!! I just want them to scan it while I wait, but they don't do this ! Now I'm home my VAG-COM scan shows the following: 1 Fault Found: 8806 - Cylinder 3 Internal Pressure Sensor P13D6 00 [172] - Implausible Signal MIL ON - Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 00000001 Fault Priority: 2 Fault Frequency: 1 Mileage: 5190 km Date: 2017.08.31 Time: 07:29:01 Engine speed: 1875.00 /min Normed load value: 73.7 % Vehicle speed: 24 km/h Coolant temperature: 91 °C Intake air temperature: 67 °C Ambient air pressure: 1010 mbar Voltage terminal 30: 12.740 V Unlearning counter according OBD: 40 Cylinder head: pressure sensor 3 bank 1: raw value: 0.211 bar Cyl. head: press. sens. 3 bank 1: max press. in decelerat.mode: 0.68 ° Cylinder_pressure_offset_cylinder_3: -2.813 bar Cyl. head: press. sen 3 bank 1: error stat. combust. rm. press.-Bit 0: 4 Cylinder head: press. sensor 3 bank 1: grp. run time: -2.5 µs Readiness: 1 1 0 0 0 I now have Audi Assist (AA) coming to look at it...we shall see what they can do. 7. Thanks for your replies Trevor & Steve. After 1000 miles I'm enjoying my new Audi and discovering new things about it on a regular basis. I now have my Phaeton back from the main dealer after some warranty issues were sorted, and it's being prepared for sale - let me know if anyone's interested :-) Will be sad to see her go, but needs must.... (By the way that's not my house it's parked in front of :-) )
  8. Hi all, Just joined up as I took delivery of my brand new A6 Avant 2.0 TDI Ultra S-Line S-Tronic on 8th June. Have immediately taken it on a trip to Brittany in France to test it out, and am enjoying it. I have had a 2010 VW Phaeton for the past 5 years, but this is now getting a bit old at 130,000 miles, and starting to cost a bit both to run and repair so I felt it was time to move on. It's true that I'm missing some creature comforts from the Phaeton (air suspension, better stereo, reversing camera, and the space inside etc) but I'll get used to that. The Audi has technology in advance of the Phaeton in so many other respects, and I look forward to getting something better than the 25mpg I've been used to. Previous to the Phaeton I had. Ford Mondeo 2.5T Titanium X, but the less said about that the better. Will never have another Ford is all I will say. Prior to that I had a VW Passat W8 4.0 4WD, which was a lot of fun....hence my user name - my personal registration which has stayed with me ever since. Fun yes, but at 20mpg average over the 6 years I owned it, certainly not economical. I'm looking forward to learning all about my new A6 and getting the best from it over the next 4 years or so. It seems to be a very well made and solid car, so I believe I've made the right choice to move on from the Phaeton now. All the best, Chris
