  1. No problem, no it didn’t happen after I washed the car I was just about to. They said they water had been creeping in for a while and it reached a point where it caused problems the day after I bought it! I see it as lucky now as it could have happened 6 months down the line! My only suggestions would be to get as much as you can for your money, ask for all the recalls to be done and get the paperwork, get a full diagnostic, inspect the car carefully in the dry and get and dints etc repaired. The laws are now different when buying a used car and the buyer has a lot more protection than before
  2. Hi there is a recall on the coolant pump that wasn’t done on my car. The coolent pump had been leaking on to a connector that had then capillaried up the cable in to the ECU. The ECU is basically a computer that does most of the functions of the car. I’ve had mine fixed under warranty and haven’t had any problems since
  3. I realise this is an old post but if your still waiting then I found this video that may be helpful, I’m yet to try this out so no idea if it works or not
  4. Yea I do agree with you Paul but a little voice in the back of my head is saying get rid! Ha ha I’ve asked for all the warranty etc in writing. I’ve already got the standard 3 month RAC warranty and they say there should be at least 12 months on the ECU
  5. Hi Ive used this forum quite a lot when I owned a A3 recently purchased a Q5 2.0 TFSI S-like plus from a local Audi specialist. I picked up the car last Saturday and drove it around all day and fell in love with it! Went out Sunday morning to give it a wash etc and it wouldn’t start. RAC came out spent 3 hours on it and still couldn’t start it! It got picked up on a low loader on Monday morning buy the dealer. The dealer has been great given us a courtesy car and aren’t trying to dodge paying for the repairs. They say the seal has ruptured on the ECU so the ingress of water has sent the car mad (understandably). My question is should I be retuning he car and ask for my money back as I worried this may be a bit of a “nail” or should I let them return it to me an hope nothing else goes wrong in the long run?
