  1. With some regret, I'm offering my fantastic B4 COUPE for sale. It's the 2.6 litre V6 engine model. Reasonable miles at 180k, which is an average of just under 8k miles per year over 23 years. The previous owner owned his own independent garage up in Scotland and he has documented the timing belt being changed by him in 2017,, he obviously didn't charge himself so there is no amounts of money on the bill. There is also a HUGE amount of receipts for parts over the years.......... I've had it since early July 2018 , and love it, but I'm not in love with it. It's a great car however and I haven't been disappointed with it in any way. For a big old lump though, she's fairly frugal, returning close to 30mpg in mixed driving and low 40's on a decent run Doesn't use a drop of oil, no leaks anywhere, no rattles / knocks from suspension etc. Had a new "TYPE APPROVED" CAT for the recent MOT, along with new pads in the front and back. 4 Original SPEEDLINE alloys in great condition and will be included in the sale 4 brand new tyres in August Electric Windows Electric Mirrors Alessio aftermarket 17inch alloys fitted Central locking and immobiliser with keyfob x2 Rear fog lights Front fog lights Height adjustable front seats ALL OF THE INTERIOR/GAUGE LIGHTS ILLUMINATE CORRECTLY The period light grey half leather interior is in great condition, and with it not being full leather , you don't get freezing cold seats in the winter , there are zero holes in the seats btw and the fronts are very supportive RECARO "type" MOT till OCTOBER 2019 The exterior is excellent for a 23 year old car , with no rust. The rubbing strips on the doors do have some chips and scratches, after all ...... that is what they are there for, to protect the doors, however a perfectionist would want to sort these with some paint. With the car being 23 years old, there are of course little bits and pieces that still need looking at to make perfect. The bootlid/hatch does not open remotely, only when you use the key, Rear wiper did not work when I got the car ( possibly a fuse ? ) so I removed it as I strongly dislike them, I have treated the rear screen with RAIN-X and that does the job better than any wiper. The ABS light sometimes comes on when driving along, I've had the garage look at it but they said everything seems to be working fine, just a dirty sensor maybe ? I'd say there's nothing there which is too difficult to sort, but I do want to document the things that need a little attention. These lovely solid old coupes are starting to rise in value. They won't be this cheap for long, especially the big V6 models like this one. I apologise in advance for the lack of shiny paintwork on this beauty, but I'm the kind of guy that would rather attend to the running gear and mechanicals than polish the paint, in my opinion there's nothing worse than a great looking car that rattles and squeaks because the owner can't be bothered sorting the problems out, I hate that. I have taken the coupe to a professional detailer for a quote to machine polish the car, he told me it would be a fairly easy job as this era of Audi has very hard paint/top coat and quote " will take a machine polish well " The car is located in REDCAR, about 10 minutes walk from the North Yorkshire coast, by the seaside, half an hour from sunny Whitby , the home of THE best fish and chips. The postcode area is TS10. I'm happy to help out in any way with collecting it's new owner from the airport (Durham/Tees Valley) or railway station. ( Darlington/Middlesbrough or Redcar ) I am looking for around £1550, although welcome any offers from fellow Retro Riders. I might even be open to a part-ex, particularly something Japanese. Inbox me on here, or text on O7914113925 OFFERS WELCOME, MAY CONSIDER A SWAP/PX FOR SOMETHING INTERESTING, JUSTIFIED AND ANCIENT, DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK.
  2. just hoping someone out there ( hopefully in the grim north ) has a spare drivers seat to fit my 1996 coupe, I have grey leather but the drivers frame seem to have collapsed and the seat base leans toward the middle of the car and makes for a very sore back ! I'm happy to take the drivers seat or the fronts as a pair in leather or cloth, makes no difference to me. thanks in advance.
  3. soooooo , just to save me dismantling half the car to find out, does anyone know what bulbs the headlights take please ? I'm assuming they're H4 but not sure, just wanting to upgrade to osram nightbreakers before the dark nights come along again, cheers chaps
  4. Thanks for that Steve, I got the car as the deal with the rover thing didn't work out for my mate, and he swapped the Audi with my probe instead. doubt I'll be spending £500 upwards to get the belt done though, I don't see it putting that much value on the car tbh, I was hoping for around £300 so I'm well out with my estimation lol. looks like I might invest in a decent breakdown recovery policy and continue with the cambelt roulette game ! although I may ring around a few specialists and see what the prices are locally, thanks again for the input though , appreciated.
  5. Hello, thanks for letting me join, I have just got a 2.8 quattro A6 in 1997 flavour. She's an old beast and she likes a drink for sure, but I took it in a swap for a ford probe so I guess I'm winning so far ! I quite like the old girl, but it needs a cambelt change ..... 13 years since it was last done, however the car has only done about 8k miles in that time... so here's the dilemma ......... do I get it done ( any ideas on prices for that appreciated ) and roll around in it for the next couple of years, or continue playing cambelt roulette and see what happens, it could last for years ????? Are they expensive to maintain over a couple of years ? I do about 4k miles a year so not really worried by the mpg, moreso the overall sort of cost, nothing seems to be wrong with it and it has 4 new tyres. sorry for the long intro
