  1. Hi Peter, generally I think it will depend on the weight you're towing and the distance.

For example, if you were just towing a small garden trailer then I wouldn't worry about it. With your caravan, it will probably depend on the weight of it.

I assume you don't have any warranty to worry about so it will likely just be down to you as to whether you want to risk it or not.

I will try James but don't think its loud enough to pick up.... Its getting slightly louder by the day I would put it straight into garage but need car for work so catch twenty two... Trying to find a good reputable garage that opens on a Saturday is !Removed! neigh impossible !!!

I'm Pretty sure its a calliper as tonight when pulling into my drive on full lock I heard a grinding noise like the brakes locking on or catching on something plus I'm now getting slight vibration in steering wheel on my commute to work.

Give it a try you never know!

Still waiting for her to be ready :( On Friday I was told Monday, on Monday I was told today and today I have been told tomorrow.

Now I'm starting to worry about t he size of the bill too.

Hopefully they've just been snowed under and it won't affect the size of your bill!

Sorry for long pause have changed my email address and so was not getting msg's

I have not fixed it as yet …. warmer weather means it's not so bad …. But is getting worse.

I am beginning  to think it might be to do with the steering lock solenoid because when parked with the steering out of straight it is very much worse. (The thought being the lock does not retract so well and when cold the lubrication or lack of it )

Turning the ignition on and off does not solve this….. BUT if I take the key out and back in bingo it works

Does anyone know if there a connection made when the steering lock releases ???? i.e. some form of continuity from the solenoid

    Kind regards

    Jez

Sorry to hear you haven't fixed it Jez - must be a paint. At least you have found a bit of a workaround in the mean time though!

  6. Hi Tony,

Does the MMI controller work with any other function or is it just playing up with the map?

FYI, the dealer is legally liable for any fault present at the time of sale for 6 months from purchase.

After a couple of false starts the sat nav is now permanently wired to a key switched circuit. Thanks for the tip James about piggy back fuse taps. An added benefit to the job is having less than a foot of wire on show above the dash, so it looks far tidier.

Glad you managed to sort it - the fuse taps are pretty useful for all sorts of things!
