  1. Gareth No garages I have talked to have experienced this problem, However my engine is an early example of the EA888 design. I was lucky that the seal leaked very close to home and the engine stopped before the cooling system was affected, i.e only the reservoir was emptied indicated by the level light. David
  2. Gareth The engine is a 2.0L petrol turbo (197 bhp) ,with chain driven cams ( current type ). The vehicle is 2009MY and the Water Pump was original it had only done 68,000 miles. The plastic water pump housing had broken along the top edge, allowing the seal between cylinder block and pump to blow out and empty the coolant, Hope this is enough information Kind regards David
  3. Has anyone experienced plastic housing breaking up allowing seal to escape and coolant to leak, and requiring a whole new pump assembly.
