    Martin (wooks),

I'm afraid that I am very disappointed at the update. I agree that it is smoother from standstill but that low speed acceleration lag is still hugely evident when you floor it  from say 10 to 15 mph upwards. If you slow down to approach a roundabout and see a gap and go for it you will still scare yourself at total lack of response.

Since the update, I can honestly say that I’ve no longer experienced this issue when slowing down at roundabouts. The response has been really good. What mode have you got the engine set to? I’m in Dynamic mode.

The only issue I’ve now got is when trying to accelerate quickly, for example when on a dual carriageway, from around 30-40mph to get past slower moving traffic. This still has the 1-2 second delay.

Will be interesting to know if others are still experiencing the same issue as you?

  2. Had my first real test of how well the car can pull away from stationary the other day. I’d managed to sneak past a guy in a Porsche Cayenne at a roundabout, we then came to red traffic lights and he darted from behind me and pulled up on the inside of me, with the clear intention of getting ahead of me when the lights changed. Thought I’d see if the software update really had worked. The car was already in dynamic mode and I flicked the gears to Sport mode. When the lights changed, we both floored it. About 50 yards past the lights, the 2 lanes merged into one, with the inside lane having to merge into the outside lane, so I knew I had priority. Amazingly, the guy in the Porsche was unable to even get slightly ahead of me. If anything, I pulled away from him, and he had to concede and pull back and slot back in behind me.

To say I feel chuffed is an understatement. It felt so good to, at long last, have the car respond how I hoped it would when I bought it back in March last year.

Now if only they can fix the acceleration delay when the car is traveling around 30 - 40mph.

Just one other, unrelated note. Does anyone else’s cameras fail sometimes? Sometime, when I put the car into reverse, the screen is blank and just shows a camera icon with a line through it. Usually, the next time I use the car, it’s fine again, so it’s only intermittent. I’d hoped that maybe the latest MMI update would have fixed it, but if anything, I’d say it’s happening more now than before the update. And it’s not just the rear camera. If I switch to say the top down view, sometimes a few of the cameras around the car have failed, but maybe the front and a side camera would still be working. But it’s random as to which work and which don’t! And it’s only occasionally. It’s as if the computer has failed to fully initialise the cameras when the car is switched on.

My Audi dealership is saying they are unaware of this problem and/or any fixes.

Unbelievable! It’s almost as if Audi /your dealership are scared of a lawsuit against them for selling a car that’s not fit for purpose, and so don’t want to admit there are any issues. Do write to them as you say you will and hopefully they’ll find the update.

I’m just wondering if there is an organisation who can do independent checks on these cars and put pressure on Audi to get them running as they should do?

Woeful response from Warrington Audi they say they cannot replicate the problem so will not provide a fix they say Audi is not aware of any problem like this I mentioned that the forum was full of people experiencing the same problem there reply was don’t look at the forums it’s full of false claims!!

Fed back to Audi UK and nothing not a murmur

Of course that’s right. We’ve got nothing better to do with our time than make up false claims about our cars!

May I suggest you hit them where it hurts and, next time they service your car and you get an email from Audi asking you to rate it, give them one star ratings across the board. Whenever I’ve had dealings with my garage, they are almost begging me to give them 5 star ratings as Audi apparently come down hard on their garages who have bad ratings.

Or better still, just mention to them that unless they take these complaints seriously, this is what you’re likely to do 😁.

  5. OK.

Have spoken to the lead technician at my dealership. They are going to send a technical enquiry to Audi with regards to the car still not properly responding when at speed (in my case, trying to accelerate from 30mph).

Can I request that if anyone else has noticed this (I think AlexR mentioned something similar) that they inform their dealers? Hopefully the more people who report the issue, the higher chance that Audi will release another update.

Unsurprisingly, there doesn’t seem to be any way of finding out what updates have been released unless we specifically ask our dealers. So I’m just going to have to keep bugging mine every few months 😁.

    Any one else noticed this?

The permanent temperature guage on the left does not match that of the one displayed inside the virtual cockpit?

You'd think both are read using the same thermometer right?

Now that I've noticed it, I've checked it over the space of the week and seems to be always the case.

The left hand temperature is the engine coolant temperature, whereas the virtual cockpit one is the oil temperature. The symbols are different.

The shield is for the privacy settings for connecting to Audi and the myAudi app.

So is there any way to get rid of it, or will it always be there? I’ve pressed it, but it doesn’t seem to take me anywhere sensible 😁.

Regarding the performance, I’ve had some good drives now and the car is definitely a lot better. I’ve kept it in Dynamic mode. I did have one scare on the North Circular the other day. It was a 40mph limit and I was in a lane doing 30mph. A gap appeared in the overtaking lane that I knew should be safe for me to get into. I pulled over into it and put my foot down to overtake and nothing happened! It was the usual second or so delay before it accelerated. In the meantime, a car that was coming up behind me beeped me.

So while the stationary pulling away is vastly improved, it’s worrying that accelerating from higher speeds isn’t.

I will report this to my Audi centre and hope that another update comes out which fixes this issue.

  8. OK, so quick question.

As I said, I set the mode to Dynamic last night and when I did this, it put the drive into Sports mode and the display showed S1, S2 etc. Got in the car today. It’s still showing as Dynamic, but the drive mode is now D1, D2 etc. I know I can change it by flicking the gear stick but in Dynamic mode, is there much difference?

  9. Had a drive this afternoon. Definitely more responsive - I even pulled out onto a main road with cars approaching from both ways a lot nearer than I would have tried prior to the update 😂. I’d say there was a slight hesitation, but hardly noticeable compared with before, and the car definitely accelerated away well and a lot smoother than before.
So far I’m very happy 😁.

  10. Hi MartinLHW.

You have to mention the issues you’ve got and that there is an update that fixes it. If you don’t, the only updates they will automatically install are recall updates. This particular update, for some reason, is not considered a recall update, which personally I find ridiculous, as clearly it’s a dangerous issue which could result in us having an accident.

  11. Had a chat with Jenna today. He mentioned that there is a gearbox software update that was released in March.

As one of my issues is that the car sometimes seems very reluctant to change up gears, I’ve mentioned this to my dealer, but they reckon that the May update fixes both my slow acceleration and reluctance to change gears issues.

I’ve asked what, then, does the March update fix but so far they haven’t come back to me.

    Anyone got any more information?

  12. My dealer has found the update and is going to install it next Tuesday. Hooray!

Apparently they will only install it on cars which are displaying the problem and as the message hadn’t filtered down to the service guys, that’s why they didn’t install it (although I suspect they didn’t know anything about it until I gave them the information). So does that suggest that there are owners out there with the version of the software I’ve got who are happy with their performance? Would seem strange that the same engine performs differently in different cars.

Jenna - Have looked at the ODBeleven website. Seems very reasonably priced. However, as someone who only knows where to put the diesel and screen wash in the car, would it really be of much use to me? 😂. And where is the ODBII port? Inside the passenger compartment (around the driver’s area?) or under the bonnet? Is it something that will alert me to potential problems before I know about them? Would Audi start to get stroppy if they know I’ve been using one? Thanks for any info.

  13. Thanks for this information. I don’t have an ODB11 dongle, so will have to rely on my dealer to install the correct update. But I do know for sure that they didn’t apply it as they didn’t seem to know anything about it!

I’ve passed this onto my contact at my Audi dealership and hopefully they’ll be able to do the necessary 🤞🏻

    Hi Martin,

I spoke to Audi today, I was advised that you need to inform your dealer you have a ‘slow to accelerate’ when pulling away concern with the car. I believe this is not a recall, however, if a delay is experienced then there is a software update available - in other words you need to be persistent and demand they drive the car to understand the problem.

I was advised the TPI (Technical Product Information) code is 2053287/11, i was also advised to switch off my stop/start system as this can be over enthusiastic and may need adjusting, I tried this and the car did appear to pull away better, my car is being crossed checked with AlexR’s car to ensure I’ve got the same update as his, once I hear back I will let you know.

    That’s brilliant! Thank you

  15. The fact that every time I mentioned that there was an update which improves the performance and the reply I got back was about a recall update makes me suspect that the update I wanted hasn’t been installed.

I will get in touch with them and try and find out if this is the case. I will not be impressed if it hasn’t been done as I lost count of the number of times I said there was an update which improves performance which is currently dire!

  16. OK, so I’ve got the car back. Only a 10 minute drive down dual carriageway to get home so not really any time to test if there’s any improvement. To be honest, my initial impression is that there’s no change.

Is there any way I can find out on the MMI what version of software/firmware I’ve got? On my invoice, all it said was that the service was carried out and no issues found.

  17. Well, the car has gone in. I kept mentioning the software update, but the girl kept saying yes, it’s down for the recall. Had a quick check online and it does appear there’s a couple of recalls, one to do with the airbags and the other is replacing the starter generator.

Just hope that they will also perform any software/firmware updates as a matter of course.

Was offered a deal on servicing. Today’s oil change service is about £361. The next service will be a major one, costing around £425. But if I paid £475 today (I can’t remember the exact figures) then this will cover today’s and next year’s service. Sounded like a good deal to me.
