  1. Thank you all for the replies. It is louder than what you can hear on the recording but for some reason it doesn't pick up well on my phone.

The garage who told me its the suspension is actually a German specialist garage who I've used a few times. They are pretty good I'd say.

But yeah I think I'm going to get my brother to take it to the Audi specialist. Fingers crossed they are able to figure it out and its not too expensive 😕

Please do. It will save an awful lot of fruitless questions and answers, which could easily send everyone on wild goose chases.

I am reminded of the old joke about the motorist who complained of the whining from the back of the car and was told to cure it by leaving the mother-in-law at home.

haha thankfully I don't have a mother in law

I've attached a recording, the clearest I could get it.

    Hello Zara,

I fear making the correct diagnosis of the cause of your noise - once we have more details - is likely to be a bit of a black art, without examining the car.

I can see that you have had the car inspected by a couple of garages, which is reassuring, this this car is trying to tell you something!

If it were mine, I would be looking up a locality Audi independent and asking them to inspect the car. It’s likely there will be more expertise and experience there.

My stab at it based on your description so far - possibly ( in caps) suspension leg top mounting, but a guess it is obviously.

    Kind regards,

    Gareth.

    Hi Gareth,

    Thanks for the reply.

That seems like a good shout as I googled it and seems like symptoms match.

There's an audi specialist based in Pudsey so will take it there.

If it is the suspension mount, out of curiousity would that be an expensive repair?

  4. HI,

Was wondering if anyone can help please.

I've had this issue for a while, everytime I drive on local roads (cant hear it on motorway) my car makes a very loud noise on the passenger side.

I've had it looked by a few garages, no one really knows the issue. One said my wheels are too big, other said its my suspension drying out.

Seems to get louder the colder it is.
