  1. Hi, I have an Audi A4 Avant B7 8ED 2.0TDI 16v 140HP Automatic. Engine BRE. Been having an issue with the gearbox which seems like it's slipping, the revs go higher on their own and the car doesn't speed up, so I'm sure from what I've read that it's the torque converter going. It's recently started to shudder slightly in 6th gear. I had the oil changed a few months ago and it seemed fine for a week or so then returned to how it was. Now I've since read you have to be careful what transmission oil is used and I doubt the garage used the exact one that was needed. Things are made more complicated because I'm currently living and working in Sicily and it's hard to get the expertise here unless maybe if I go to Audi dealer but even then that doesn't guarantee you will get the right service. Does it sound like the torque converter? Also I thought about leaving it until it goes, has anyone actually had one fail to the point the gearbox had failed totally? And the next thing is, where can I get one from? I've searched but can't find any for sale for my car, and don't really want to pay dealership prices. The car isn't worth that much although where I am located tends to have high price cars so if I can get the part and replacement done for about 1000-1500 euros it's still worth it to me. Thoughts ? Many thanks Dave
